Anyone watching along? Starts tonight, 9pm, C4. Runs for five nights. I loved Broadchurch, and have been on a Jury, and love anything like this.

Hope its good!

They haven't mentioned a majority verdict yet.Used to be the case that after 3 hours and 10 mins, the jury are brought back into court and told that if they haven't reached a unanimous verdict, the judge will accept a majority. Not sure if it's the same with a murder trial tho.

Destinysdaughter · 25/05/2017 21:11

I hate that army guy!

qazxc · 25/05/2017 21:17

I don't think there's any chance of them all agreeing. A few of them seem very entrenched and unwilling to view this with an open mind.
I'd say if it is a case of majority voting, they will convict.
Personally i'd be voting not guilty.

Destinysdaughter · 25/05/2017 21:28

Surprised they are showing flashbacks before the verdict. I want to see more of the discussion!

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/05/2017 21:38

I wonder if the flashbacks are to throw us off the scent?

Destinysdaughter · 25/05/2017 21:45

What a cop out!

Destinysdaughter · 25/05/2017 21:46

But understandable. The evidence simply wasn't there

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/05/2017 21:50

Seriously??

Bananajam · 25/05/2017 21:51

Very clever, frustrating, annoying and almost exactly the experience I went through (although we did finally agree on a verdict). I wondered how they would show what actually happened!

Vagndidit · 25/05/2017 21:51

Well then... The question is why Simon was on trial in the first place Vs Dodgy Boyfriend.

MacarenaFerreiro · 25/05/2017 21:58

Can someone summarise the last episode - missed it!! And going away tomorrow so won't see it on catch up

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/05/2017 22:00

OMFG

Destinysdaughter · 25/05/2017 22:01

I thought the ending was done v realistically. Won't say what happened if pp haven't seen it yet

Vagndidit · 25/05/2017 22:01

Jesus, that was grim. I'm horrified now to think I would have voted him not guilty. I suppose that's the point of the programme.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/05/2017 22:02

I don't know whether to post a spoiler on the thread, do you want me to PM you Macarena?

Xmasbaby11 · 25/05/2017 22:03

That was a really good ending and a convincing story. Martha's words were very wise. She had him sussed early on.

MacarenaFerreiro · 25/05/2017 22:03

yes please if you wouldn't mind :-)

Bananajam · 25/05/2017 22:04

The last episode was mostly flashbacks showing what actually happened, interspersed with interviews with the jurors and the discussions they had before deciding that they couldn't reach a verdict. The jury was dismissed and he will go on trial again with another jury. 4 women thought he was guilty but the rest said not guilty.

Spoiler:

it ended showing that he did kill her after she said she was leaving with the children.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/05/2017 22:08

Well I did PM you but I see we've got a spoiler here Hmm

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 25/05/2017 22:08

v strange
i was correct and never waivered for one moment

BurnTheBlackSuit · 25/05/2017 22:10

I would have found him not guilty and I stand by that. The evidence just wasn't presented. That is the fault of the police, cps and prosecution. Not the jurors.

sassymuffin · 25/05/2017 22:12

YY I still would have found him not guilty too as the burden of proof is on the prosecution and I though they did not present their case beyond reasonable doubt.

PossomInAPearTree · 25/05/2017 22:13

I agree the evidence. Wasn't there.

I'd have found him not guilty.

One of the jurors who found him guilty said she had a gut feeling and that was that. Which is rather horrifying to be honest.

LadyGagarden · 25/05/2017 22:14

Me too sheepskin, I just couldn't understand why people thought there was a lack of evidence. The neighbour saw him outside even though he said he stayed with her the whole time, he made and terminated a 999 call then waited 8 mins to ring again (might've believed he was too shocked had he not made the first call) and his DNA was all over her including the back of her neck. Plus of course, the pattern of violence against his partners and that she was legging it to Scotland without him! The witness' description of Lewis' clothing was wrong and his evidence was the only thing really putting any doubt on to the situation!

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 25/05/2017 22:18

i thought the lewis thing was a bit dodgy.............maybe bought out some racist tendancies in the jury

also no comment to me just screams guilty
and yy to the phone call and bruises

i think the whole programme was really making a good point re domestic violence
