Anyone watching along? Starts tonight, 9pm, C4. Runs for five nights. I loved Broadchurch, and have been on a Jury, and love anything like this.

Hope its good!

Mind you my mil was on a jury. They found him not guilty as they couldn't be 100% sure he'd done the crime Hmm. It was later revealed he'd got privious convictions for exactly the same thing.

When I explained you dont have to be 100% sure she was aghast!

Yoda I think there's one on this week about Natalie Hemings' murder.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/05/2017 15:14

I loved this,I was absolutely hooked!

There's no way I could've convicted either if them if I'd been a juror, I was very undecided.

I could watch the defense barrister all day Blush

NotYoda You obviously have an agenda and set that out clearly.

Now I think this is an excellent programme in that it indicates clearly the prejudices of the jury, not even starting with race.

It was an interesting exercise in that it did highlight that two women a week are killed by their partner. That's a shocking statistic. No one can explain it away, but most can choose to ignore it and give each trail on it's merit.

What really struck me was that those children were going back to a murderer, someone they trust and believe who murdered their mother. Also, he is youngish for a man and can easily meet another woman and have children with her. I know several men who have become fathers again in their 50s.

Elendon

I'd call it an opinion, not an agenda

I agree that it highlighted the fact that two women a week are killed by their partners. An outrage.

And I agree that it really showed up several of the men, in their attitudes to the case, and to the older female juror

But I don't think it served as an education about male-female violence. I think that could have been achieved better by other means.

I really am going now. Just wanted to answer you on the agenda thing. I don't like that word because I think it implies (I am not sure if you meant it to or not) that I don't care about the issue of male-female violence

This made me sick, this must happen all the time that's the problem with murders by someone known to the victim. I would have said guilty, the only thing that made me change my mind a bit was the boyfriends phone being put on airplane mode but then again I don't think you would plan to strangle someone.

O know it is a zombie thread but I just watched this and found it fascinating and so, so sad.

RevolvingPivot · 17/02/2022 07:43

I started to watch. 2 minute in I thought I'm sure I've seen something like this before. Just noticed the date on the thread. Is it worth watching again?
