They're framing it slightly differently now.. 😧 interesting from the bbc...

That's behind a paywall Portia.

NameyMcNamechangechange · 11/05/2017 18:20

Re suing its Amaral who has all the money now isn't it so maybe we'd better be careful how we all refer to him.

MissShittyBennet · 11/05/2017 19:22

True! He's done well enough out of all this. Plenty of money been made here, it's turned into quite the cottage industry. I'm sure Amaral could lawyer up nicely if desired.

LillianGish · 11/05/2017 20:35

Yes he has done rather well out of it hasn't he? I still can't for the life of me understand why the Portuguese refused to investigate the burglary theory at the time. It wasn't investigated until seven years later by the British police by which time presumably no one could be expected to remember anything about phone calls at significant times and it was too late to inspect any vehicles anyone had been using or search anyone's home. The fact that none of those men were charged with anything was hardly surprising. It would have been much more convincing if they'd been ruled out at the time - or even traced and considered. How could the Portuguese be so sure without even investigating? How could they not even consider it? I don't have a problem with the Mcanns coming under suspicion, but it is very odd that that was the only line of inquiry and that a much more obvious one was ignored. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence in anything that followed.

susanboozan · 11/05/2017 20:45

Regarding Amaral making a mint out of this, I have a recollection that when he was first sued by Mcs his income and assets were frozen or something like that. So I think he suffered a bit alright.

The Mcs on the other hand have lost the case now, and will have to pay him compo I think.

Horses for courses.

I agree that Amaral winning his latest case has opened up comment much more than before.

HatHen · 11/05/2017 21:43

My child had colic. If I heard a child crying for a lengthy period of time it wouldn't raise alarm bells, as it would never cross my mind that a parent would leave their young child alone in a flat/hotel room.

Dol, did you actually watch it?

ShoesHaveSouls · 11/05/2017 21:54

Did you watch the same BBC programme as me, DoIGivesAfuck?

You should educate yourself on the actual reliability of lie detector tests, and the reasons they are not admissible in UK courts. They are not 99.9% accurate as often touted on daytime TV shows.

TheFirstMrsDV · 11/05/2017 21:55

A lie detector on Jeremy Kyle?
I have heard some utter bollocks on this subject but that must be in the top ten of total fuckwittedness.

Your post is pretty much what is wrong with our society wrapped up in one inane paragraph.

So leaving your children in a strange hotel room whilst you go and eat and get pissed is ok? ???? I know as a mam I'd NEVER EVER EVER EVER DO THIS

DoIGivesAfuck · 11/05/2017 22:02

Why is it stupid ???? If you have nowt to hide then why is it a problem ????

TheFirstMrsDV · 11/05/2017 22:03

is by far something that should be investigated at the very least?
What are you on about?
Are you saying that they haven't been investigated?
Where the hell did all those 'files' come from then?

Jeremy fucking Kyle.
On line petitions.

And you want to be taken seriously.

SouthWestmom · 11/05/2017 22:05

PortiaCastis · 11/05/2017 22:05

I didn't think anyone watched that Jeremy Kyle made up shite

DoIGivesAfuck · 11/05/2017 22:05

No they were not investigated for leaving the children. Thefiles are readily available on line for anyone to read

DoIGivesAfuck · 11/05/2017 22:06

HMMMM daily fail

DoIGivesAfuck · 11/05/2017 22:07

Haha true to form deleted by mn .

TheFirstMrsDV · 11/05/2017 22:07

I think its very unlikely that the files of the UK social services are online.

They were visited by SS when they came back to the uk.

And please don't trot out that bollocks about 'if they were from a council estate they would have their kids taken off them' because that isn't true as I have explained way back in the thread.

SouthWestmom · 11/05/2017 22:07

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1562712/McCann-twins-may-go-into-care.html

Is your Google broken ?

DoIGivesAfuck · 11/05/2017 22:09

Erm I never mentioned council estate kids ?? Night night my bed calls

TheFirstMrsDV · 11/05/2017 22:11

Oh Sad
You going to bed before you can explain why you think SS were never involved with this family?
Despite 'files' being online. e.g. news reports from multiple sources.

DoIGivesAfuck · 11/05/2017 22:12

Nobody has answered whether leaving kids is ok and the done thing ??? Maybe I'm too British and would not dream of leaving my kids when on a "family " holiday
