Thanks for the recommendation "upyourdaisy"

BeyondUser24601 · 05/04/2017 14:45

"Heapsters" 😂

Upyourdaisy · 05/04/2017 16:16

DixieNormas yes! It's bloody brilliant, I know possession/exorcism stories have been done to done but this has got an amazing twist to it. Definitely watch the first season and the 1st episode of season 2 then be ready for episode 2 on Monday.

No problem stormy

Upyourdaisy · 05/04/2017 16:16

*done to death!

I might check out outcast this eve too Dixie. Am a little bit scared though! I thought maybe they were saving sherry's story for next season, her character seems quite likeable.

Can't believe Eric made it, they did a really pointed close up of him with his gun as if to say Ha still here!

I do also think it might be good if they make it all a bit more straightforward story telling next season. It was a bit ... hmmm artsy in parts then cheesy in other places.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/04/2017 21:52

I got a bit annoyed with the 80s tension music. Felt they were only doing that because of the success of stranger things and using the "heapsters" for it.

I think I'm too scared to watch outcast!

The first 5 minutes of Outcast were scary! That's one thing about TWD they kept children out of it. I wonder if the children possession thing relates to tantrums, childhood illnesses etc? Luckily it's not like a horror movie where the scariness is relentless though - give it a try with a pillow nearby to hide behind.

I didn't notice 80s music on last episode of TWD, but I defo thought Stranger Things at the end of Outcast - the music had a distinctly 80s feel. At the moment it is also reminding me of Penny Dreadful but I think it's going to go in a different direction.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/04/2017 23:30

Going back to TWD, I think part of why viewing figures might have dropped was the switching between stories in the first half - it makes it less imperative to watch the next episode if you know that whatever cliffhanger you have been left with probably isn't going to be dealt with?

I couldn't get on with Outcast at all, watched the first episode and just found it gratuitously nasty (and with uncomfortable parallels to the real-life cases of "exorcisms" gone badly wrong in some extreme religious communities).

I thought this was a pretty decent season of TWD overall...I do wish they'd stop doing that thing where they devote entire episodes to one or two characters, though. It can feel frustrating when you don't see the characters you care about for 2-3 weeks. And there was just not nearly enough Carol at all this season Angry

I am in the pro-Negan camp, though! I find him very watchable and charismatic. Can't get on board with those who want him to STFU Grin

He is certainly mixed up! I like the episodes with Negan in as he is unpredictable and sometimes funny, I guess the actor is probably quite charismatic, but his 'wives' want to kill him and he doesn't reaaaly seem to have any adoring groupies like the governor did - only people who are scared of him. Maybe I am wrong as everyone 'is Negan'.

Willow2017 · 06/04/2017 18:31

I love the character of negan. Love his supreme confidence, his arrogance, his sense of humour ( even though it's very dark at times he does have a comic turn of phrase) love the way he just sort of 'flows' in a fluid dance in front of people. There might be less of that now which is a shame only because I love it- Smile
But of course all that is ofset by his violence and domineering personality and everything that goes with it. He is a narcissist but he also recognises strong quirky people who he admires and would like on his side but he would use and abuse them in a heartbeat if it suited him.

He is very smart and has amassed a huge army of people to work just for him. He is a supreme dictator but has flashes of niceness which puts people on the back foot as they know they are either tricks or to get him some leverage. Even if he believes he is genuine at that moment in time nobody else does! Nobody is ever comfortable with him being nice Smile

I think it must be very lonely once he goes back to his room at night. He has wives and right hand men lots of people to boss around and terrorise but not one friend.

Willow2017 · 06/04/2017 18:34

Damm phone pressed wrong button again.

I think he is incredibly jealous of Rick as everyone does what they do because they are family and love each other, no other reason. Negan doesn't have that and never will.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/04/2017 18:35

Lucille is his only friend. Wonder what his pre walker job was...frustrated banker maybe?

nigelforgotthepassword · 06/04/2017 18:36

PE teacher in the comics someone told me?

yumyumpoppycat · 06/04/2017 18:47

PE teacher, he is a bit like aa male Sue Sylvester Grin

HurricaneHalle · 08/04/2017 07:59

I found the finale a touch meh!

I expected more.

Completely surprised by The Heapsters switching sides.

We know Gregory left The Hilltop but I dint recall seeing him meet Simon or did I miss that bit?

JDelanysCleanHorse · 08/04/2017 10:27

I enjoyed the finale but expected a few more deaths of popular characters.knew Negan would not be killed off though.

October is too far away. It might take a good first episode back to hook me in!

yumyumpoppycat · 08/04/2017 10:48

Actually that seems to be a signature of TWD - the first episode of the season/series is often like a last series episode. That episode was more like a skirmish - the war is still to come and that will probably take up a few episodes, especially if Negan is popular with audience?
