Will anyone here be watching?!

OP posts:

And think she mentioned the relationship to the vicar this time, saying that her DP was away on a long case?

2014newme · 10/03/2017 12:40

lenny is obviously going to come to the fore they wouldn't hire him to say 2 lines in the background. Ditto Cath.

2014newme · 10/03/2017 12:41

Ditto Trish's husband

2014newme · 10/03/2017 12:44

@Loopytiles correct.
And the young handsome journalist played by Jonathan Bailey has gone to a London tabloid.

Vicar is still a boring character
Beth and mark still irritating

SapphireStrange · 10/03/2017 12:57

I don't remember the newspaper editor relationship story. Confused

It seems like quite a boring subplot if it's not going to be meaningfully connected to the main story. That scene in the head office was dullsville.

I like the vicar. I think he's hot.

2014newme · 10/03/2017 12:59

The newspaper editor's partner was Charlotte Ramplings character, the lawyer who was going blind.
Agree the office scene was pointless. I was only interested because the office is the KPMG building in Bristol 😂

IAmNotAUserNumber · 10/03/2017 13:57

I thought the vicar looked bored when Mark was pouring out his hear to him; and later angry that he hasn't got the congregation he would like because the locals aren't grieving/scared anymore. Definitely has an air of dodginess about him.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/03/2017 15:25

That's right 2014. In series 2 wasn't the young journo a bit dodgy and was using the newspaper to get up to no good? Wasn't there a risk that his expose was going to jeopardise the case? My memory is so patchy but I remember scenes with the editor and him being quite heated/ angsty.

I'm sure that the head office scene will have an impact somewhere in the series 3 because as pp have said, otherwise what was the point??

user1487175389 · 10/03/2017 20:13

I'm betting they'll need the head office's consent for a public appeal for information or something, but head office will decide it's just not interesting enough (middle aged, average looking single parent - not someone people will sympathise with enough to buy the paper) or something else equally infuriating.

BookABooSue · 10/03/2017 23:38

I think the editor will get an exclusive about the rapist and this will either save the paper from having to move or result in her getting head hunted by a bigger title to be a correspondent or in her deciding to fundraise to set up her own paper.

BertrandRussell · 11/03/2017 12:10

Why do people keep having confidential conversations in public?????
And why does someone always stand looking meaningfully out of a window as Alec and Ellie walk away?

Akire · 11/03/2017 13:04

Oh yes User can see young editor refusing like you say boring middle aged woman then maybe she get attacked herself?

Optimist1 · 11/03/2017 13:35

I agree the young editor is likely to want to downplay the attack in Broadchurch as it's not relevant to their wider readership and this could result in Something Bad happening.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 11/03/2017 14:38

But the editor won't know who has been attacked

Cagliostro · 11/03/2017 14:45

I don't want to wait 2 more days for a new episode 😰

Shall I watch prime suspect 73? Presumably it doesn't matter if I've never watched PS before?

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 11/03/2017 17:03

the guy who spent a lot of time banging in fence posts
oh yes!

CoolCarrie · 11/03/2017 18:53

This storyline is weak compared to the first series, and I honestly will only watch the last episode. The fact that a child murderer got away with it in series 2 was just mind boggling . Can't wait for Line of Duty 3, much better, clever series, each storyline as strong as the first.

Cagliostro · 11/03/2017 21:24

Where could I watch line of duty from the beginning? I've heard good things about it but I don't have Netflix and all that stuff.

The one thing that really annoyed me about this episode was the text at the end - "OR ELSE!" just seems a bit... juvenile I guess? Otherwise awesome.

Mind you I see I'm very much in the minority with actually really liking series 2. I do love the Welsh actress who was hiding at Alec's, she was in torchwood.

KittyOShea · 11/03/2017 21:52

The first 2 series of In the Line of Duty are on Netflix. I don't know if anywhere else but they are well worth watching! I want to see series 3 so am considering buying the downloads on there so I can watch series 4 when it starts on tv later this month.

Optimist1 · 11/03/2017 22:02

@KittyOShea - Series 3 starts on BBC1 tonight at midnight! It's on every day this week as far as I can tell!

KittyOShea · 11/03/2017 23:32

Brilliant! Thank you so much. Setting record now!

BringMeTea · 13/03/2017 16:35

Someone has probably said already but I reckon Trish has been having an affair with Cath's dh. He sent the text.

NapQueen · 13/03/2017 21:08

Anyone in tonight?

Akire · 13/03/2017 21:09

Me! So do we believe the ex??

NapQueen · 13/03/2017 21:10

I do. I still think these are all red herrings.
