Prime Suspect is not cosy Smile

Think it's on at 9pm

cloudchasing · 02/03/2017 17:21

Weirdly I binged on Prime Suspect from the beginning a few weeks ago. But there's not going to be any Helen Mirren is there, so I'm not keen, since that was the reason I liked it!

KittyOShea · 02/03/2017 17:21

Thanks I do like the non cosy options too Smile Will give it a go.

absolutelynotfabulous · 02/03/2017 18:05

The original Prime Suspect was good. I'm not so sure about the prequel-did I read on here that LaPlante didn't want to be involved?

Tennysson looks too "pretty" to me....

HemanOrSheRa · 02/03/2017 18:14

God. I loved the original Prime Suspect. I used to watch it with my Mum. I think Zoe Wannamaker was in it too if I remember correctly.

diddl · 02/03/2017 19:00

Ooh, loved Prime Suspect.

Tom Bell-fabulous!

"Why was she born so beautiful, why was she born at all she's not bloody use to anyone, she's no bloody use at all!"

absolutelynotfabulous · 02/03/2017 19:02

Yes, she was! In the first one, I think. She was the villain's partner. John Bowe was the villain.

The actor who plays the factory owner-Jenny's squeeze-is in it too.

Helen Mirren was great in this. Rough as hell. I miss those kind of female characters. Everyone's so bloody clean and sanitary now.

diddl · 02/03/2017 19:04

Zoe Wanamaker & John Bowe-fabulous!

Summerof85 · 02/03/2017 21:30

sundaymorningbringsthedawnin · 02/03/2017 21:40

Akire · 02/03/2017 21:44

Watching it is Slowwwwwww I was born in 70s so good see how much better things are from dull and grey.

AnyFucker · 02/03/2017 21:51

I am old enough to remember the 70's Smile

KittyOShea · 02/03/2017 21:59

Very slow. Don't know how well I can stick with it

cloudchasing · 02/03/2017 22:06

Oh I quite liked it!

AnyFucker · 02/03/2017 22:06

There are always prostitutes

Always a naked dead girl on the slab getting scrutinised

Annoying

Summerof85 · 02/03/2017 22:21

I was born very early 1970s Grin. I enjoyed it, the ending there makes me think there may be a few twists...

user1487175389 · 02/03/2017 22:22

Yep, it's like 'women, know your place' (on the slab, if you dare to venture out alone or enjoy a night on the town or simply marry the wrong man).

AnyFucker · 02/03/2017 22:35

Yup

KittyOShea · 02/03/2017 22:43

That's why this series of Broadchurch (and the first) stand out imo. The victims are people and the effects of the crime on the victims are explored. That's why I don't mind the Latimers still being in it. The effects on victims don't disappear after a few years so it's good to see they've kept that focus both in the new case and the old (as well as the interesting relationship between OC and DT)

NapQueen · 03/03/2017 07:13

Just rewatched ep2 of season one and properly laughed out loud at OCs response to DTs unreasomable request "move away from me now or I swear I will piss in a cup and throw it at you"

Grin
CoolCarrie · 03/03/2017 10:53

Tbh this is going to be a bit predictable, but hope I am wrong. she will have a fling with her boss, get beaten up and/ or threatened by Ruth Sheen's son, go undercover as a street walker, in up in peril and get out of it by the skin of her teeth.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2017 11:28

Absolutely loved this. Tho Obv not the rape :(

Glad they showed the caring side of what happens and hope more woman would come forward if been raped

50/20. Def something suss - maybe swingers party

I missed Lenny henry .... how

Agree not husband of friend. Too suss

And yes I thought I saw a figure in her garden tho window

SapphireStrange · 03/03/2017 11:29

Quite liked Broadchurch Ep 1. Love 'It's not Trumpton!' and 'How's your dad?' 'Infuriating.' Grin Alec and Ellie's bickering is the heart of the show.

The birthday couple are implicated but neither of them attacked Trish and he isn't her rapist.

The Latimers' daughter may be involved –I also thought they spent an oddly long time talking about her retaking a school year etc.

I love the vicar! I'd like him to be in it a lot but not to be involved.

And can I just say: it's Olivia COLMAN. COLMAN. Not Coleman. COLMAN.

AnyFucker · 03/03/2017 11:59

Ahem. I spent Colman correctly at the beginning of this thread
