Definitely Rhu and certainly a brilliant candidate to watch instead of all the others!! I would not be saying "oh no" not him again

Rhubarb01 · 09/06/2017 19:52

If I recall rightly Yorks someone wrote a FF where CJ became Prime Minister. I think it might have been Lolagirl? I think it was a little bit saucy in places (that makes me sound a bit Two Ronnies doesn't it). I'm sure, however, that we could rely on CJ to give a commanding performance at all times and in all situations. Grin

Nickel45 · 09/06/2017 21:27

Was it this one rhu, think I need to reread!

pixieg1rl · 10/06/2017 17:44

I'd vote for that policy Rhu.

Unless we have another election in the next few months I think that's going to be the last one count in there. Off to the municipal sports hall for us in the future.

Ilovelblue · 10/06/2017 19:47

Evening everyone. It's been quiet on here this week until the flurry of activity yesterday.

Heartily sick and fed up of the election stuff now. It's fascinating in one way and who knows what will happen and if Theresa May will stay in No 10, but on the other hand, the press are having a field day and it will go on for weeks yet!

Yes, CJ as PM would do very nicely, wouldn't it?

Been a strange week. Was at the funeral of the father of one of my closest friends on Wednesday which was very sad, as they all are, but my role for the day seemed to be to look after a retired RAF Air Marshal. Very sociable and outgoing chap, beautiful manners but not on the same planet as the rest of us I think. Probably comes of having staff to do virtually everything for him.

On a happier note, I did the second part of my colour and style analysis yesterday. Fortunately for me, most of my clothes seemed to be in the right shapes, colours and fabrics! No way would I have paid for this but it came from the retirement fund at work.

Rhubarb01 · 10/06/2017 22:48

Evening. I was interested to hear of your colour and style analysis yesterday ilove. I'm sure it was nothing like it but do you remember that scene in Bridget Jones Diary when her mum insists she gets her colours done? I expect it's moved on a little more from those days.

I was watching the Canadian drama 'Cardinal' on BBC4 earlier having watched the first two parts last week but was forced to turn off because of the gratuitous violence. A warning was given but it really was too prolonged and nasty. That's another drama I won't be bothering with which is a pity because the earlier episodes were quite good. I have turned over for Foyle's War now - somewhat safer territory.

After my binge watching of 'The Keepers' the other week (fascinating, absorbing, harrowing in places but some amazing, strong and inspirational women) I moved onto "Under the Same Sky" . It's a German drama a bit like Deutschland 83 but set in 1974. Once again a Stasi operative goes undercover in West Berlin and it focuses on two families either side of the Berlin wall as well. Just in case anyone likes that sort of thing and might be interested. I know a few watched Deutschland 83 when it was on.

2 minutes into Poldark and he's galloping Darkie over the cliffs. Oh how I miss woof and orphan 🐎

Rhubarb01 · 11/06/2017 23:16

I'm going to be a bit controversial here but as much as I enjoyed Poldark I do wish Ross would sort his hair out (cut it or tie it up with one of those fetching velvet bows that Robin Ellis used to wear) and have a decent shave. Sorry, but I feel he is letting himself go a bit. Take a look at Dr Enys...there's a nice clean-cut role model for him.

As for Woof it looks as though she and Ross literally galloped off into the sunset together.

Checking back in for the first time in a few very busy weeks and what an awful few weeks it's been with the terrorist atrocities and disastrous election.

I received a Spotify notification today about London Grammar's new album, and managed to listen to about half of it. Very beautiful haunting music, and I think our favourite tv show's production team could do worse than look there for some soundtrack inspiration- if they can be bothered this time Wink

Just finished watching Line of Duty series 1 to 3 on DVD and have really enjoyed it. I've even found myself become strangely attracted to Steve Arnott - not a patch on CJ so it must be the hormones! Now got series 4 recorded to look forward to over the next week or so. We were a bit late to the party on this but it's been fantastic tv and highly recommended if you've not seen it.

Ilovelblue · 13/06/2017 09:24

Always London Grammar's latest single has just been olayed by Chris Evans. I think it would be good as background music to a particularly angsty sort of scene.

Waiting for a man to come and give me a price to remove a 30 year old small tree from the back garden.

Anyone doing anything interesting?

user1471547055 · 14/06/2017 09:42

YorksOAP
Oh no not another disaster.

Everything seems to be happening at the moment what a dreadful thing to happen and especially in view of all the tower blocks in our cities.

Hopefully there will be some good news for the country sometime soon

icemist · 14/06/2017 22:31

Truly awful yorks Sad

Been a terrible few weeks for the country.

Ilovelblue · 17/06/2017 23:39

Horrible, horrible week. It's hard to imagine how those poor people from Grenfell Towers in London must be feeling about their families. The images on television have been truly shocking. It's so difficult to visualise losing absolutely everything you have.

It's been so quiet on here of late. What is everyone up to? Hope we're all making the most of the lovely weather at the moment.

Nickel45 · 18/06/2017 00:59

Hectic time coming to the last term.

Completely tragic week. A friend was one of the firefighters who attended. What compete and utter heroes they are. Absolutely in awe of them, and how they deal with such a harrowing and mind blowing (not in a good way) experience. Words aren't enough.

When are you on your Southern tour ilove? Will miss seeing you this year x

Ilovelblue · 18/06/2017 09:37

Nickel not until the end of July. My friend fancies a separate trip to Bicester in the autumn so we may yet be able to meet up?? We'll have to stay overnight so we'd have more time to chat.

Alwaysfrank · 19/06/2017 08:49

Hello all. Indeed what a terrible week. No words really. My son's school sports ground is a mile or so away. I took him for his match on Saturday and saw the block with my own eyes. Seeing it in pictures is one thing but seeing the scale of devastation in real life is something else. People in neighbouring blocks who have to see it out of their own high rise windows must be living in total fear.

His school, from today, has taken in a whole year group plus teachers from the academy next to the tower which has had to close. Luckily there is room at this time of year because of all the exam takers not being in most of the time.

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine- too hot really but I don't want to complain after so many rubbish summers!

Ilovelblue · 19/06/2017 14:24

That's the sort of thing you will never be able to erase from you memory Always. Another mindless terror attack too we hear about today. What a world we live in.

It might seem crass after all the bad news, but the sweet peas in my garden did cheer me up this morning.

Alwaysfrank · 19/06/2017 23:07

Sweet peas are one of my favourite flowers, ilove. Sadly our garden is too small really to bother with trying to grow too much. I have had some success with sweet peas over the years but not bothered recently. I saw they were selling them in Waitrose last week - not sure how much but it was the grand total of 6 stems (only noticed as it was 6 for the price of 5!). You could make a fortune!

Ilovelblue · 19/06/2017 23:18

These are perennial ones Always and as such, don't actually smell. They last a bit longer though when you cut them and bring them indoors and have quite a "waxy" appearance. These grow really tall. The frame is 7 feet tall and I think they are at least 8 feet now. I've had to tie them all in in case we get any more high winds or they get battered when we have the inevitable thunderstorm once this heatwave comes to an end.

kazzaD66 · 21/06/2017 15:29

Had a stand in teacher for my Pilates class today and for the whole hour, we had London Grammar as the background music. Found it very hard to concentrate on the exercises at times, as I was far too busy singing along (in my head, obviously Wink) or picturing various scenes from S1BlushGrin!!!!

Just checking to see if I'm still logged into you all!! Or if there is something wrong with my 'equipment' technical of course.

Wouldn't dare question my own!
Hope everyone is ok and just busy. All waiting out for news of OG 3.

Ilovelblue · 25/06/2017 14:40

I'm here Yorks. Think everyone has fallen out with us!

Been so hot that it's a relief now it's gone cooler. I'm having a day of cleaning out cupboards and chucking out some work clothes.

user1471547055 · 25/06/2017 14:57

YorksOAP
Hi ilove I now know I'm still with you all
Yes at last it is cool enough to feel like doing something. Unfortunately it goes from one extreme to another pity we can't have a happy medium

Nickel45 · 25/06/2017 17:41

I'm still here, just manic coming to the end of term, and prepping for holiday club I help at (only 500 kids, what am I worrying about ?!?!???!!!). Really pleased that the storylines for OG3 aren't being leaked, but would be nice to have some more pics, wouldn't it!

user1471547055 · 25/06/2017 18:54

YorksOAP
Absolutely nickel as many pictures as possible please but I agree no leaks
