FYI I have been using the same Sainsbury's brolly for years. It cost a fiver. Halo

Heatherbell1978 · 23/02/2017 20:56

Think she was using Clarins originally. Had a huge number of Clarins products around the sink.

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 23/02/2017 20:57

Clarins I think.

Lovelybangers · 23/02/2017 20:57

Ah right.

Pricey stuff. She looks to have good skin though.

Char22thom · 23/02/2017 21:00

The reason they cant help worse off folk (like myself!) because there is no/little spare cash so none os wasted or spent badly, those with money are the ones who waste it because they can afford it. When I earnt twice what I earn currently I was never any better of financially as I lived within my means (ie I wasted it on expensive stuff I didn't need 😊) x

lampfromikea · 23/02/2017 21:04

What Char said. It is very difficult to show how someone with very little to cut back on can cut back further.
This programme does show how you don't have to pay out for the most expensive of everything though, as the cheaper/cheapest is often just as good, if not better than the branded items.

I can't believe how much they could save a year. That's fucking insane. I always wonder if the families actually stick with it though, it's a lot of changes to make!

Wondermoomin · 23/02/2017 21:29

What is that little device that they swapped to instead of the satellite TV package? I want one!

Justmuddlingalong · 23/02/2017 21:31

Now TV maybe?

Wondermoomin · 23/02/2017 21:39

Maybe - just trying to google to see if I can see the same thing. Very interested because Alex said it included all the sport etc. We have a Fire stick already but would be interested in something where you can access sports (well, not me personally but my husband). Actually - what am I thinking - why would I be voluntarily enabling his sport watching? 😂

Kelsar · 23/02/2017 21:42

I don't understand how you can spend 45 minutes in shower and she says she didn't realise how much extra that would all cost over time - really !?

Kelsar · 23/02/2017 21:44

It would have been now TV with the entertainment package, there are lots of different sky channels available through Now TV without the mega expensive monthly charges

Wondermoomin · 23/02/2017 21:46

Ah thank you, will have a look.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 23/02/2017 21:47

A 45 min long shower is fucking obscene.

Wondermoomin · 23/02/2017 22:00

...not to mention boring surely?

jollyjester · 23/02/2017 22:03

If you get now tv always check ebay for the different passes. I got 4 months of sky movies for about 20 quid!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 23/02/2017 22:04

And tiring.
Imagine standing in a cubicle for 45 minutes. I'll get cramps in my legs.

Justmuddlingalong · 23/02/2017 22:06

If she had quicker showers, she'd have time to peg her bloody washing out!

EssentialHummus · 23/02/2017 22:07

I'm Shock at three sets of twins! But, yeah, their spending was obscene to begin with. The shoes, the tech... how can you not identify those as areas to cut back on?

PuppyMonkey · 23/02/2017 22:12

I thought I misheard about the 45 minute showers. Shock

Where do they find these silly people?

woodhill · 23/02/2017 22:14

Exactly my thoughts just

Justmuddlingalong · 23/02/2017 22:19

And as for not liking the cheaper dishwasher tablets. They've got 4 strapping lads there. Why aren't they washing, drying and putting away the dishes. Earning pocket money, like I did back in the day? Then they could buy there own advertising branded trainers?

charlestrenet · 23/02/2017 22:20

Meh. If I had loads of money I'd spend it as well. Surely that's the point of money? I mean it's not like you can do anything else with it.

I don't get the point of this programme. As others have said, the people they feature are never on the breadline so they don't need to cut back on spending. And people who are on the breadline don't live in a way that means they can negotiate better direct debit deals (because they don't have direct debit) or drive around seventeen different supermarkets to make sure that everything they buy is on offer (because they don't have a car and don't do big shops anyway because they never have that much money at once).

I think its entire purpose is just to provide a parade of people that everyone else can say "ooh they spend a lot and I don't aren't I great" while totally disregarding the fact that as we live in a country where shopping is seen as a leisure activity they themselves very likely spend money on all sorts of pointless shite. Which seems like a weird way to spend your time but I guess whatever floats your boat.

Kelsar · 23/02/2017 22:20

eBay for passes is an excellent idea thanks !!

ihatethecold · 23/02/2017 22:20

That must be a record, having 3 sets of twins.
I can't imagine having 1 set never mind 3.

AgainstTheOddsNo2 · 23/02/2017 22:27

Over 50 quid on toddler wellies Shock
