Did you know you might not have any Sky channels after midnight tonight? Sky and Virgin are arguing over money and Sky are going to pull the channels if no agreement today!

So no Lost or 24..........

Yeh were discussing it yesterday - any idea when we might know the outcome of the scrap?

I assume that Virgin will take all the Living channels off Sky if they carry on being stingy?

Lucycat · 28/02/2007 14:11

afaik isn't it just Sky One/two/three and Sky News/sports news that we'll lose?

purplefraggle · 28/02/2007 15:02

this whole thing sucks - not a happy bunny at all

Bomper · 28/02/2007 16:15

I am so cross about this, thinking of moving over to Sky, but as I have TV, phone and broadband through Virgin, it is going to be a mega hassle!! Whole thing sucks!!

tenbygirl · 28/02/2007 16:18

I'm just praying they sort it out at the last minute. I also have everything with Virgin. I can imagine it will take Sky weeks to get all new customers connected when everyone leaves Virgin.

BoolieTC · 28/02/2007 16:22

be cross with Sky Bomper not Virgin, they are the ones using their power to force Virgin to pay more cash.
At least Virgin have the balls to stand up to the evil Murdoch. If everyone moves to sky like they want they will just whack up the prices.

Rodeo · 28/02/2007 17:37

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed things get sorted alst minute, but it doesn't look good I love Lost & 24, I'll be gutted if I don't get to see it. Bloody money grabbing gits, I;ll never switch to Sky after this stunt they've pulled

Rodeo · 28/02/2007 17:37

There's always the DVD boxsets!

Bomper · 28/02/2007 17:37

Oh I am cross with Sky, bullying everyone out of the market, and also buying up all the good series and taking them off terrestrial tv (ie Lost and 24). I am really happy with Virgin and would like to stay, but I don't want to miss out on either of the above programmes - as I am a bit of a saddo!!!

southeastastra · 28/02/2007 17:38

think i'd only miss the 4400, skyone seems full of dross anyway

BoolieTC · 28/02/2007 17:38

They screwed Virgin over Living tv as well so they are paying Virgin less for their channels whilst expecting them to pay more for sky! I bloomin hate Murdoch.

Frizbe · 28/02/2007 17:38

Similar to this matter we have sky freeview (cause only 20 full stop and cheaper than us getting an ariel for bog std telly put up) but they've pulled chanel 4 and chanel 5, plus all the free sky chanels that they can from our viewing list, in an effort to get us to switch to sky, I am sooooo not swapping over to them ever again.

willow2 · 28/02/2007 17:41

I am really pissed off about this. We changed back in November and I made a point of asking whether they had Sky One and said that I wouldn't change if they didn't. The rest of the service has been better than Sky - better picture for starters - but now I'm stuck in a 12 month contract and about to lose three of my favourite programmes that I've been following for yonks. Aside from 24 and the Simpsons, I am really pissed off about losing Lost. No Sawyer? FFS.

willow2 · 28/02/2007 17:42

Oh, and notice that this has happened just after Virgin took over.

Does Virgin still have a stake in Virgin radio? I only ask because the morning show is sponsored by Sky at the moment. Ironic, huh?

emsiewill · 28/02/2007 17:45

Looks likely I will be having to deal with a completely distraught dd2 tomorrow then according to this .

She is addicted to the Simpsons - 1 episode on Ch4 just won't do

[bad mother emoticon]

Rodeo · 28/02/2007 17:57

Bomper, all is not 'Lost' (hehe get it)

'Elsewhere, website Satellitetvtalk.info has published a transcript of it says is an extract of an interview with Richard Branson by BBC's Andrew Neil. Due to be broadcast this weekend, Branson says he will buy the rights for programmes currently on Sky and set up it own channels to rival Sky One.

Branson said: "Sky One has a couple of wallpaper bits of programming which, which our viewers could do without briefly whilst we put it on to - whilst we then go and buy the rights for where they can just press a button and get it at any time. I mean for instance Lost, which is one of the programmes we?ve just picked up and we can offer, you know, all our viewers from September and we?re negotiating for 24 and I?m sure we?ll get some rights."'

Rodeo · 28/02/2007 17:59

PSML at 'No Sawyer, FFS'

But then if I didn't laugh I'd cry

Bomper · 28/02/2007 18:14

Fingers crossed for that then Rodeo . I will be in desperate need of a 'Sawyer' fix by September!!

BoolieTC · 28/02/2007 18:18

Its happened now because Murdoch is threatened that someone with power and influence is standing up to him! Good for Branson I say.
I don't have sky 'cos I refuse to pay the man my cash, can't get cable here either so jsut have freeview. But i work in travel and admire 100% what Branson has done to stand up against BA and trust him to do the same with sky.

Budababe · 28/02/2007 18:18

CAn't see Branson taking it lying down. Hopefully he'll sort it out.

We are stuck with Sky (illegally too although we do pay full whack).

I can live without the Simpsons.
Virgin central is good. Virgin channl 119 it has a few parts of major seriess and will change frequently.
I'm watching the 4th series of Spooks on it at the mo.

NuttyMuffins · 28/02/2007 18:57

I have virgin, only just bloody signed up to it too, well a month or so ago anyway.

Will we get a reduction if they pull Sky 1 ??? It is a main channel afterall.

carlsberg · 28/02/2007 19:26

My dss are gutted as they won't have Simpsons, Futurama. I totally agree about Sawyer in Lost, he is gorgeous. Dh loves Sky news but I am still not going to swap on principle.
Ds is currently on the new 119 virgin channel where you can fast forward your tv and so on and they also like that you can watch anything on it whenever you like. They are well impressed with that.

emsiewill · 28/02/2007 19:27

I haven't managed to make my channel 119 work yet - I press the red button and nothing happens...anyone throw any light on this?
