Has anybody noticed there were 2 times when they did shots of Daniel talking and Kelly's nose sticking into the left hand side of the frame. Almost as thought they were trying to point out that it was rather large?
I love Daniella's confidence. That 'artwork' was horrible, but she was quite happy with it. I would love to have that much confidence.

iklboo · 10/01/2017 21:14

Not a lot of cats in that part of Worsley. Too near the roads & canal.

I preferred James' rooms. Danielle's was too narcissistic 'her' painting, 'her' photos (painting was awful IMHO) & unfinished. That curtain wall will attract dust like nobody's business.

SwedishEdith · 10/01/2017 21:53

I quite liked the "painting" Blush - or the idea of it, anyway. But, it wasn't "expressive", it was "copyist".

The cupboard under the sink looked like it'd always have a corner or two that stuck too far out or in. And the curtains made it look like a 70s Holiday Inn.

felixthecar · 10/01/2017 22:09

surely it would have looked better to have painted the mahogany cabinet?

TheSilveryPussycat · 10/01/2017 23:13

And surely the tradesmen would have looked at the unit before just going at it like they did? I am an relative ignoramus, but having looked at plenty of similar units on line (but failed to choose one, or indeed do anything much to improve my bathroom), even I was not surprised that the basin was supported by the unit.

Sad there were no cats, but happy to see those tunnels to the old coal mines.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/01/2017 23:31

Underwhelmed again. Boring, boring, boring. I'm just going to say it....BRING BACK CHANGING ROOMS. We need wild, wanton tomfoolery. This thread depends on it, although fanjo wallpaper is pretty original. I think Kelly seemed better this week, she had a bit more to say. I thought the bedroom Daniella had was nice before the makeover.

DesolateWaist · 10/01/2017 23:33

I do get bloody annoyed by woman who don't put a cardi on properly.

trollspoopglitter · 10/01/2017 23:35

James' room was a complete copy-cat attempt to do Joanna Gaines' signature bits off their to show Fixer Upper. They're a Texan couple who renovate properties. She styles them and they sell the furniture online at Magnolia Market. She puts those bloody sliding doors into every single show Grin but hers look like his mood board, not the plastic track he actually did.

Oh and I believe cats were replaced by ducklings this evening. How many were there?

Lois, I believe the BBC already tried and they called it Your house in their hands. It was horrific

I think the worst was the kitchen (because they couldn't just rip it up) when the designer spent £7800 and ripped up the kitchen their dad has built. about 33 minutes in here. It didn't look that bad until they zoomed out and you saw how horrid the clash actually was all together. I still think about those homeowners to this day Sad

seven201 · 11/01/2017 02:45

Ooh didn't know this thread existed.

Daniella'a were much more creative but my god those fabric walls will get dusty and grimy quickly. Basin unit would have been better off painted rather than the huge monstrosity it ended up being. I cringed when she said she was going to make some art but I thought it looked ok, wouldn't want it in my house though! I think both her rooms looked great despite Fanjo wall but not practical and I would be pissed off if I was handed back a room with no skirting side to cover the messy dust attracting fabric stuff.
.
James' decoupage wallpaper - no no no. His rooms were both very none designery and just normal, anyone could have done. His home owner loved it though. Loved her, she was so enthusiastic and wanted to help james win. He seems like such a sweet man though. I think they regretted taking him through.

What is with the editing? End of day one they do that awkward sit on the steps chat with both contestants and clearly Daniela is covered in paint from making her art piece. Then supposedly the next day they show her making it from the beginning?!

NormaSmuff · 11/01/2017 05:23

The editing has always been false imo, and the chat stilted.
I knew once they showed Daniella being sad and upset on the second morning, that she was going to get through. even though I preferred James rooms and they did criticize Daniella

MistressMaisie · 11/01/2017 05:52

Not so good this series, I feel Kelly is too serious and humourless - the other female presenter was better.

The rooms have been tiny so a bit impossible to do much with. And the blue and white living room was better before the make over. I don't know why they have chosen these properties.

ElspethFlashman · 11/01/2017 08:14

I noticed the paint splatter too.

Incidentally don't they stink having to wear the same sweaty clothes for about 3 days? Blush

I thought James dressing table thing was shite. And you can't just bung a hook on a door and call the room "rustic". The homeowner would have loved anything though, she was so happy to be on Telly, bless her.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 11/01/2017 09:08

trolls I remember that show, it was awful Sad I agree with pp that the time limit is ridiculous, as is the small budget especially when its expensive properties. If I had a period property I would want quality finishes and material not mdf and diy artGrin

SapphireStrange · 11/01/2017 11:45

Has anybody noticed there were 2 times when they did shots of Daniel talking and Kelly's nose sticking into the left hand side of the frame. Almost as thought they were trying to point out that it was rather large?

Yes. Grin Bit cruel of the camera crew/editors.

James was robbed! A travesty. Daniella's 'painting' was shite.

ZaZathecat · 11/01/2017 13:00

Not only was the painting shite Sapphire, but looked like it was in the way, propped up there to cover the offending radiator, with a bit of cloth hung on the side like a used towel. Why do radiators have to be hidden anyway? And as for all the marvellous ways of sticking TVs in cupboards to hide them, I assume the owners just live with the MDF doors swung open all the time.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/01/2017 13:00

@seven201 is right - those fabric walls are going to be a nightmare to maintain - especially behind the basin, where they may get damp from steam, and end up mildewed.

Daniella's picture was pretty dire - it looked awful just propped against the wall - and surely it is going to block most of the heat from the radiator from getting to the room??

There really was nothing rustic or farmhouse about that room - real country people don't bung a couple of crooks on the wall, and @ElspethFlashman is right - bunging a hook on a door does not make anything rustic!

SapphireStrange · 11/01/2017 13:23

It didn't even cover the radiator properly; it was poking out from both sides. Confused

That curtain on the wall, in that dingy green/yellow, was vile. Made the place look morbid. Like when the curtain goes across in a crematorium.

Cosmicglitterpug · 11/01/2017 13:47

I'm amazed the couple were disappointed by the monochrome given they'd seen the mood board...

All a bit boring tbh.

ZaZathecat · 11/01/2017 16:27

Let's hope tonight's lot do better!

hollyisalovelyname · 11/01/2017 16:30

I thought James's dressing table was awful.
I actually loved the 'marble' style wallpaper behind the bed. I didn't notice what a lot of you noticedBlush
I think the judges should get Oscars. Some of what has been presented has been ghastly and the judges were so positive.

trollspoopglitter · 11/01/2017 16:53

DH and were chuckling at the pretty homeowner James had - she so obviously studied acting and was hamming it up for the camera... The enunciation, hand gestures, hello wanna-be-your-next-presenter.

And, I actually did think she was better than Kelly. That shows needs effervescence from someone and Little Beardy Lad only gets excited about the history bit. I wish they had Sarah, the winner from the first series as a judge. I had watched her on catchup (didn't know about her show) and she's just so lovely and likeable!

dailymaillazyjournos · 11/01/2017 17:17

Just caught up on iplayer. Underwhelmed with both of tonight's end results. James' cut out wallpaper was just bleugh. Like something you'd see on pinterest or a window decal website. Really naff. And the dressing table was grim with the shepherd's crooks and two tables joined together.

Didn't like the big drapey curtains that Danielle did in the living room. Looked like a massive version of one of those old-fashioned changing screens you got in NHS examining rooms. And YY the dust.

I think Danielle was the best of the two. James's looked boring. Hope tonight's is better.

ElspethFlashman · 11/01/2017 17:24

True that effervescence is badly needed.

Kelly and Daniel appear to have only one facial expression between them: concerned

I mean, the judges on Landscape Artist of the Year have more personality!

ElspethFlashman · 11/01/2017 17:26

And YY to whoever said that there'd be streaks of paste all over James walls. Bleuugghh.

Bet that Wannabe Emmerdale cast member homeowner was spitting bullets when Kelly pointed out how grubby her sofas were, lol.
