He is pretty fucked up. I feel really sorry for Zilpha. He is totally manipulating and using her. It's all about his own wants and needs. There is zero affection from him towards her. He doesn't care about her. He just wants her.

My theory...that dunking JDs mum gave him as a baby has made his resistant to drowning in some way and this is why he survived the ship incident (assuming he was on it!)
