Time for a new thread.

I am hoping by the end of this thread Phelan will have disappeared, Anna and family will have moved away and someone will have remembered to book a babysitter for baby Jack.

Cathy said she had tenants in her house and would have to wait for them to leave - but surely she would be getting rent! Bet Rana loves her living at Yasmeen's.

eddiemairswife · 24/01/2017 17:56

It would have been more sensible for Cathy to have got a job at the Bistro seeing as Steph and Andy have left. And I thought Mary still worked at the shop, though she hasn't been seen since not going to South Africa.

Eastie77 · 24/01/2017 19:49

So what did Cathy live on before she met Roy and lived in that big house on her own. Presumably her dead husband left her some kind of income and yes there is the rental income. Her financial state is obviously a plot device for some kind of storyline but it's ludicrous. Meanwhile Rana's MIL (Yasmine?) was left destitute, selling jewellery a few weeks back but now seems fine and can house & feed waifs and strays.

Akire · 24/01/2017 20:25

Cathy was broke when she met Roy was some sort of storyline to that effect. He house was paid off when he husband died but probable no other income. In theory she could afford to rent her own small place easily with income on 3/4 bed house. Can understand her needing to work part time but she would still be getting good income from house. Especially given she's been living rent free at Roy's for last year?

shiplessocean · 24/01/2017 21:59

I think Andy might still be alive. Reckon Phelan will open van door and he's not there. Agree with you all that it needs to end soon.... I now find there are so few scenes/storylines I look forward to, so few characters I like to see.

Akire · 24/01/2017 23:08

I'm not sure, if he had stayed he would have been far more useful as Pheoln has loads on in for assault and starting fire, stealing things. Not sure how anyone will find out since he has no family or other friends. Unless he's buried "in the canal" and therefore found in a week by the police.

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/01/2017 11:59

ScruffyTheJanitor Thank you!! glad i'm not the only one that thinks it is a load of old tripe, most unrealistic crap!! it actually makes me feel rather annoyed I might have to stop watching.

SoTheySentMeA · 26/01/2017 09:07

Haven't watched as I can't bear any more of the Phelan nonsense, so just catching up on here. When he's gone I'll tune back in. I hope the writers realise soon how badly they're alienating viewers.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 26/01/2017 09:14

Last night was all about the baby's funeral and Phelan free! Still nonsense though.

eddiemairswife · 26/01/2017 10:46

There was no need for Nick to turn up with an identical Moses basket; that was just silly. He would have been just as unpleasant when he found out where the first one came from.

I'm getting tired of Brian wandering around with his two bags and the bike like some sort of nomad. This is a man who has had a professional career and has a reasonable council job. He must have had acquired possessions over the years (furniture, books). He is acting as if he is an impoverished student, not a man in his 50s.

Optimist1 · 26/01/2017 11:44

I did think Liz was very insensitive offering the moses basket to Lianne, but later on when it became apparent that she was suffering too I forgave her.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 26/01/2017 13:21

Nick is awful!!! Poor Liz was obviously distressed and didn't know what to do with the moses basket, just needed to get rid. And it's understandable that she's still interested in Leanne's baby even if they've decided she can't have anything to do with him/her - that wasn't her decision. Poor Liz.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/01/2017 19:06

The most ridiculous part of the Moses basket story was Liz saying she ordered it ages ago and forgot about it. No one orders things ages ago nowadays. The writers are living in the past, this is the age of Amazon Prime.

MadHattersWineParty · 26/01/2017 19:08

Maybe Amazon Prime can't deliver to Wetherfield, it seems to be its own force-field Grin

JustDanceAddict · 27/01/2017 07:39

I'm avoiding it more cos of Phelan too. Can't bear watching him or the crap storyline which has just gone on for faaaar too long. They obv think he's great, but no viewers do!

EachandEveryone · 27/01/2017 12:26

They just said on this morning that nick is leaving i hope he takes afewwith him.

SoTheySentMeA · 27/01/2017 12:34

Each that is a spoiler my dear. I'm not bothered myself but some on here really hate them.

Powergower · 27/01/2017 15:24

Sorry I'm a few weeks behind. Just watched the baby loss episodes. I really think michelle spoiled them with her screeching. There were no nuances with her acting at all. It was just noise. She did better in the quiet scenes. I'm still surprised they both agreed to film this plot. Given how rubbish corrie has been in tree last few years I can't help thinking the writers were opportunist filming this plot.

Steve acted really well and his treats seemed really real. Liz was also nuanced and effective. I thought it very bad taste to film the horrendous phelan/andy/truck scenes alongside the baby death episode. Anything but that. The reason I dip in and out of corrie is awful plots such as phelan/anna/sinead/Andy.....

eddiemairswife · 27/01/2017 16:48

After Robert had let Steve know he'd found Michelle, and Steve went to see her I didn't realise at first they were at the Chapel of Rest. I thought it was Robert's flat and that Michelle was asleep on his sofa.....until I saw the coffin.

EachandEveryone · 27/01/2017 18:39

Omg im sorry i should know after all these years. They just said that he was a special guest next week!

SoTheySentMeA · 27/01/2017 21:08

Tracey Barlows 30th birthday.... someone remind me?

SoTheySentMeA · 27/01/2017 21:10

Ahhhh

SoTheySentMeA · 27/01/2017 21:11

Caught up now. Nevermind Grin

woodhill · 28/01/2017 10:01

Love the way people can move instantly in Corrie, i.e. Nick thinking of relocating to Edinburgh (sp?) at the drop of a hat

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 28/01/2017 11:23

But yet can never visit Weatherfield again once they've moved even if it's just to Liverpool.
