Trailer of lots of people with angst and not Phil Collins here. There's another trailer on the Homeland FB page but I can't find a non-FB page to link to. 15th January in US so I reckon 22nd for us - it's usually a week later.

So - Salieri/Dar Adul features prominently and Carrie has some issues with him. Someone's having a torch shone on their pupils - does that mean Quinn's alive but non-responsive? Baby Brodie is now school-aged. Could I be more excited?

Genau!

TheSpottedZebra · 05/03/2017 22:25

Astrid and Quinn were lovers, weren't they?

Ciutadella · 05/03/2017 22:27

Are we all convinced Astrid is not a dream then?

Who was the squirrel on the wheel in the fable - is that Saul, thinking he's in control but actually about to break his paws?

TheSpottedZebra · 05/03/2017 22:28

Lieder für das Wiesel - that's the working title.

Weasels, squirrels, where will it end?

ZilphasHatpin · 05/03/2017 22:30

I'm so confused but it's fun Grin

UnGoogleable · 05/03/2017 23:03

I've read that David Hasslehoff and the Scorpions are going to headline the telethon for Quinn. Grin

I've heard they're going to be releasing 99 Red Balloons for him at the stroke of midnight too.

Carrie... FFS ... her desperately mentally disturbed friend is thrown into a psychiatric prison, so she marches in and immediately interrogates him! Give the poor guy a hug and some bloody breathing space woman!!

Missanneshirley · 05/03/2017 23:09

Because max is in it so infrequently now, every time he appears the first thought that crosses my mind is Chandler ! That actor that played chandler is in homeland! Why! Then I remember Confused

Chief of staff was in on the plan to bust the PE out I agree.

And I'm so sad that not so pretty Joaquin is gone, I thought him and Carrie were getting along well. The "practically partners" bit was good banter.

The over riding theme at homeland always seems to be that someone somewhere not only knows what has been going on but is also masterminding it. So someone somewhere will already know that Quinn can help and needs busted out I think

Missanneshirley · 05/03/2017 23:14

Ungoogleable remember she brought him back from the dead before purely to interrogate him!

Fiderer · 06/03/2017 05:36

CoS def part of the plan, she couldn't contact him on her phone & needed the help of the dour keeper to contact him and tell him where she was. Hope it means she will now take everything Darth tells her with a bucket of salt.

Also hope Astrid taking Quinn is a good thing. Aside from them having been lovers, poor sod's been through enough. And he did save Berlin at the expense of his recovery. No thanks to bloody Carrie. She's the worst thing about Homeland imo.

HalleLouja · 06/03/2017 06:52

Poor Joaquin or Leaf as he used to be known. My DH realised he was going to be killed off but I hoped it wasn't true. Am assuming that weird place was some kind of out sourced intelligence place.

Was good to see Astrid. Though I seem to remember she's not s fan of Carrie. It's good that Franny is actually in this series and hasn't been shipped to her sister's.

GypsyFl0ss · 06/03/2017 07:48

Going to watch last night's episode this morning, so did my usual read through here first to see what's happened. I can quite categorically say I haven't got a fucking clue!

Fiderer · 06/03/2017 08:36

Darth being Baddie is becoming a bit pantomime imo. Would rather have more Saul saving the day, less evil Darth & far less Carrie.

Wasn't Max a sort of freelancer for the CIA? Maybe he still is & can pay his rent.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/03/2017 08:50

Glad to be of service, Gypsy.

Grin
ZilphasHatpin · 06/03/2017 09:05

It's good that Franny is actually in this series and hasn't been shipped to her sister's.

I think there is a reason for that. Dar made a point of Acknowledging frannie and Carrie had a big panic last night when she didn't instantly see frannie at nursery school. I expect frannie to be kidnapped at some point.

Cocolepew · 06/03/2017 09:11

Random fact, my mum couldn't pronounce Joaquin so it's Joaquin Phoenix is known as Joe Quinn.

I've thought about it and decided it is A Good Thing that Astrid has Quinn.
Anyone is better than Carrie and her gurned up face.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/03/2017 09:30

Frannie will definitely be in some sort of danger.

Dar is behind the kidnapping of PE and I would be tempted to think even the bombing, to use to kidnap her.
He was the one watching Carrie, and now he knows Quinn had the photos, because Carrie told someone.

Astrid must be good, and good as her job to keep Quinn safe.

happymonkey13 · 06/03/2017 10:47

Marking place! Very confused but enjoying this series!

EmNetta · 06/03/2017 12:49

Can't remember where Otto's supposed to be at present, but it did occur to me that building No. 900 might be one of his (as a typical Homeland twist). Anyone else?

BlackDoglet · 06/03/2017 13:02

Yes Em, I too think building 900 will be something to do with Otto.

Summerof85 · 06/03/2017 16:49

Have just watched it. Was very strange building, am reading 1984 just now and it reminds me of that! Knew something was going to happen to CIA guy after being in there. Also, did he not call Franny Patty when Carrie introduced them?! The Russian guy was saying that maybe Saul isn't much use to them now? Knew PE had contacted CoS, he was the distraction whilst knitting lady was taking PE out, she must have phoned or emailed him. Recognise the knitting lady actress now from somewhere, she reminds me of either the mother from the Waltons or Little house on the prairie!

Fiderer · 06/03/2017 18:13

I'm a bit Hmm as to how Astrid would have known about Quinn. A bit soos-pisch-oos. The German intelligence agencies have no interest, do they?

I fear Darth has entrapped her but tbh would have thought her a bit more savvy. Unless he played on her Quinn weakness.

Dunno.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/03/2017 18:28

The thing is though where did PE recognise knitting lady from? I'm sure at some stage it will hit her and we'll go down the rabbit hole of another plot twist.

Astrid is good. She is. I know it.

GypsyFl0ss · 06/03/2017 18:45

Grin Chardonnay

Hassled · 06/03/2017 20:15

Oooh - I hadn't paid any attention to the PE recognising Knitting Lady - but yes, that will add future layers of complexity to the plot because let's face it, it's way too straightforward at the moment.

I also think Astrid is good. But I think she may work for Otto and I'm not convinced that Otto is good.

OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 06/03/2017 20:27

Ooh, I hasn't thought about Otto being involved with 900 - interesting!

I don't get the Astrid thing though. It will be annoying if she has kept an eye on Quinn because of her lingering feels-surely it's more likely that someone called for, or ordered her help. So Carrie, Saul or Dar?
