I thought this was quite good last week - thought the death of the brother at the end was a bit of a shock but other than that, thought the acting was good and the script fairly sharp.

Looking forward to tonight's episode. I'd recommend it if you enjoy dramas especially political ones.

I watched it and quite enjoyed it. (He wasn't their brother, was he, just a friend, work colleague and flatmate, I thought?) I'll probably watch again.

suzycreamcheese · 07/02/2007 11:01

yes and no

some of it okay...but not enough to make me take note...not a house of cards or trial of tony blair and am packing to leave, early next day so no way...

foxinsocks · 07/02/2007 11:17

lol suzy! packing is a real chore isn't it!

aaah, yes that's right Jackie. Had forgotten. Oh yes, it's not a weighty drama by any means but good enough for a bit of escapism I thought!

chore alright have still to do it..

was it any good or still okay....

Molesworth · 07/02/2007 22:01

I'm enjoying it!

JackieNo · 07/02/2007 22:09

Still pretty good. Enough to keep me watching next week, definitely.

foxinsocks · 12/02/2007 13:43

yup, I've just caught up with it - will certainly tune in this week. Loved the 'F&ck a tory week' comment!

It's more a twentysomething drama than a political drama. They could just as easily be lawyers, teachers, medics etc etc. Still good though. Patrick Capaldi is the best thing in it, as always.

foxinsocks · 12/02/2007 13:49

I quite like Andrew Buchan in it too (do you mean P Baladi, i.e. James the Tory bloke - yes, he is v good).

OP posts:
beansprout · 12/02/2007 13:51

Doh!!! Peter Capaldi is the spin meister in The Thick of It!!

We just call him "Roger Hurley" in this house!

foxinsocks · 12/02/2007 13:52

I knew what you meant (I ALWAYS get names wrong or don't remember them at all!)

recorded this tonight and just finished watching it.

Have just been playing Walls Come Tumbling Down extremely loudly!

great episode

foxinsocks · 07/03/2007 22:47

and I must admit, I know Andrew Buchan (Scott) is probably decades younger than me, but he is rather gorgeous in a sort of rogueish (sp?) but adorable way.

I'm completely addicted to this prog now and yes, tonight's was brilliant, especially the ending!

foxinsocks · 07/03/2007 23:05

ooooh goody, someone else likes it!

I love the Ashika/Scott thing and the Kirsty/Danny non thing (so painful to watch!).

OP posts:
Molesworth · 07/03/2007 23:08

I kept aaaah-ing at Danny's in-love-ness with Kirsty

LOVE the Scott/Ashika thing - will he resort to dirty tricks to stop her winning that seat I wonder

foxinsocks · 07/03/2007 23:12

I also wonder whether something with James will come into play in the Ashika/Scott thing (James is def more keen on her now that she is less keen on him iyswim)

OP posts:
Molesworth · 07/03/2007 23:16

oh yes, if Scott knows about that he could blow the tories right out of the water

foxinsocks · 07/03/2007 23:23

will resist urge to read spoilers or check the next episode in radio times/bbc website

I've been watching it since the beginning. I loved Scott's summation to the Labour candidate of why he was doing so badly, finishing with "and to put the cherry on the cake, you're a complete fucking donkey!"

Would the WI really be so un-PC as to assume an Asian woman would come and cook curry for them?

foxinsocks · 08/03/2007 13:41

I dunno (re the WI). I quite liked Mark's (is that his name, the bloke who worked with her in James' office) thoughts about the whole WI thing.

the look on the donkey's face was priceless!

I'm starting to really enjoy this series - thought it was a bit dodgy to start with but it's getting steadily better. And the actor playing Kirsty is just top-notch, I think. I may even have a small girl-crush on her (even though the character is so believably venal and self-interested).

scampadoodle · 09/03/2007 22:02

I'm loving this series, trash though it is. I'm even developing a wee crush on Scott even though he is about 10 million years younger than me I started a thread about that a few weeks ago but noone posted so I presumed I was the only one watching!

UnquietDad · 09/03/2007 22:50

I thought of Scott and Ashika as being around my age, and then he started going on about dancing to "Unbelievable" at the SCHOOL disco... and I suddenly felt very old.

Molesworth · 10/03/2007 17:06

I had the same awful realisation UQD
