Great cast, 8 episodes. It better mot turns out to be another Marcella

The programme where Indira Varma flushed the goldfish was What Remains, which I loved. I will stick with this for now, it is daft but has a good cast. Whenever I see Neil Stuke I just remember watching Game On as a youngster and thinking it was really cool. Grin

cherrytree63 · 06/10/2016 23:27

I'm enjoying it, but got confused when I thought the ghost detective who visited Alec in hospital was the psychiatrist.
Sometimes I wish actors wore name badges so that I can tell them apart....Blush

Rollergirl1 · 07/10/2016 15:18

I thought the last one was okay. I reckon there will end up being something not quite right about Alec. I know his mother is bonkers and a complete cow but I wonder if there will be a grain of truth in the things she is saying about him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/10/2016 22:47

On planner. Still haven't watched e1

Haven't read the thread so don't ruin it for myself

Tho is it good and worth watching?

SpaceUnicorn · 10/10/2016 22:49

I bailed after episode 2. Couldn't bear the appalling script.

DereksGotATail · 11/10/2016 15:38

I thought this was only 4 episodes. I don't like giving up on a series so I'll have to stick it out. I'm not sure where this is going to end.

987flowers · 11/10/2016 23:34

cherrytree I got confused too with the ghost detective and psychiatrist Blush

goingtotown · 13/10/2016 22:41

Just watched episode four, I'm angry with myself for giving up four hours of my life watching this rubbish. I won't be giving up another four hours of my life to watch the next episodes.

Lorelei76 · 14/10/2016 11:10

Oh
I'm liking this!
I am a bit unclear on something though
Are we supposed to know what Lesley Joseph's character has done wrong? If we are then I missed that bit!

There is an irony in the psych and the ghost detective looking similar after they had that whole thing about 50 something men looking similar....presume that will be relevant.

pizzaeatingmonkey · 14/10/2016 16:09

LOL Lesley Sharp?

Lorelei76 · 14/10/2016 16:10

My brain said Sharp,my fingers just didn't type it!! I blame insomnia Grin

Good point, think you have something there. Although I'm not sure I'll be watching the next 4 episodes. Watched last night's convinced it was the 6th episode, couldn't believe it was only no. 4. Now The Missing is back this series seems even poorer than before.
lorelei no, I don't think we know what LS did.

Lorelei76 · 14/10/2016 18:52

Thanks Annie
I did find it genuinely chilling when the psych appeared at the Quaker meeting
I wonder what LS has done...?!

I heard this new Missing was a bit convoluted but I was so disappointed with how they ended the last one, I cba anyway.

Lorelei76 · 14/10/2016 18:53

one poster says about taking the ribbon out of the typewriter...from what I know of typewriters - admittedly not much - there'll be about 3 lines with several letters imprinted over them, they can't read anythign from that can they?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2016 09:14

Finally watch e1. - have them stacked on my planner 😬

Seemed good from what I've seen. Will gonand read thread up to 1i

Lorelei76 · 22/10/2016 20:11

I'm up to date
Not too impressed with latest ep
I really hope Nina's baby urge turns out to be relevant, otherwise it's just another female character being stereotyped.....

Bobby's meds are going to be an issue I reckon.

AnnieNoMouse · 22/10/2016 22:12

I think this weeks was the final episode for me. The woman detective annoyed me at the beginning for being too shouty, but that was better than the, as you say Loreli, stereotypical story of a woman not in control of her own body.
Plus the meds thing annoyed me. Not sure if it was on here or the Cold Feet thread but someone questioned the fact that on TV prescribed drugs always come out of little brown bottles and not blister packs. Also, a couple of eps back Lesley Sharpe said that Bobby had been prescribed anti-psychotics. No way would he have been prescribed those by his GP as a first-line treatment for anxiety or depression.
And that scene with the armed murderer going through the hospital was silly. If he'd been after the German bloke he'd have gone in disguise till he located him, not gone right through the hospital.
For those reasons, I'm out.

Lorelei76 · 22/10/2016 22:26

Annie, she wanted a baby though? I mean I didn't get a sense of no control or do you mean mental control?

Re Bobby, those anti psychotics are an add on, he said he's been medication for quite some time. Anti psychotics are increasingly used for anxiety so that sits okay with me, but I didn't think the packaging looked right either.

Totally agree re armed guy going through hospital like that.

AnnieNoMouse · 22/10/2016 23:05

But was she actively trying for a baby with Dennis before they split up? I just find getting pregnant is such a cliched plot device in so many dramas, and it always comes as a surprise to the woman, as if none of them have any knowledge of contraception.
Didn't realise that Bobby had been on meds for a long time, thought it was a recent thing.
I think Lesley Sharpe really stands out in this series, so it didn't help my enjoyment that she wasn't in it much this week.

Lorelei76 · 22/10/2016 23:15

Okay bigger spoilers for those who aren't up to date....leaving a gap so you can look away...

She is horrible, I think she's lying when she said she didn't do it on purpose. The only reason she was shaken up was she's with the other guy now.

I also get really annoyed with pregnancy as plot device, that's why I'm thinking it really needs to be relevant but I can't see how it can be. Unless Dennis turns out to be involved in this ...

I think Bobby said he's been taking meds for years and I presume what he's been given is not what he was told it was, but linked up to any psychotropic ( is that the same as nootropic?) stuff that Ruben was working on. Or maybe the big pharma stuff is all a red herring.

Lesley Sharp does stand out and much of her character portrayal comes from her demeanour, amazing skill.

There's good stuff in this but it did go wrong this week.

ON e3

Not sure what is going on. But that's normal for me on programs s😂

Enjoying tho

Helpisathand13 · 27/10/2016 16:47

I'm sticking with it til the end and quite enjoying the challenge of guessing and tying up loose ends. The mother of the young detective made out he was a bit sinister and didn't she say he tried to commit suicide over a girl? The psychiatric and the ghost detective confused me too, has that casting any relevance and been done purposely? Cant wait to see what unfolds

Oblique27 · 27/10/2016 22:08

Spoiler request for tonight's episode please - what was Lucy's (Lesley Sharpe) terrible secret please? I missed it apart from Bobby's horrified reaction, thanks

Helpisathand13 · 27/10/2016 22:30

She disclosed to bobby her secret over the phone whilst she in uk and he in Germany at his insistence, she wanted to do it face to face.... spoiler below!! Warning!!!

She told him there are pictures of her from 15years ago with men, naked in pornographic poses and she no longer has them in her possession.
