They weren't exactly stealth like, banging the car doors.
Its a bit daft.

That Mina is seriously irritating! Young guy's mum an interesting one too! Felt rather bitty tonight and yes last scene eminently predictable...

dalmatianmad · 29/09/2016 22:16

I haven't watched it tonight although I'll probably watch it tomorrow on catch up, the curly haired loud women really got on my nerves last week and it's put me off! I thought she was crap at acting Confused

Optimist1 · 29/09/2016 22:46

I'm finding their frequent references to the Ghost Detective a bit Famous Five. Did anyone notice it was Robbie Williams' wife playing the American girlfriend?

Cocolepew · 29/09/2016 22:56

I know who tbe ghost detective is, IMBD give it away in their cast list Hmm

I thought I recognised the American.
Maybe Robbie will pay for acting lessons

Am I being thick here? How did they piece together that it was the man they wanted who was staying on the barge? The young detective said act like a tourist and they managed to find a website that hired boats out and actually found the guy?? All a bit tenuous isn't it?

Optimist1 · 29/09/2016 23:09

I think it was a case of "acting like a tourist" but they rule out hotels and B&Bs because of the number of people he'd have to come into contact with. Alec had a bright idea to check Air BnB properties, but none had a single male guest, so the only remaining option was a houseboat with a red roof!

CoffeeAndOranges · 30/09/2016 09:15

I am watching this and it's ok but so patchy plot-wise (so quick to find the Ghost Detective!). I am finding the relationship between Robert Glenister and Lesley Sharp intriguing but I'm a bit irritated by her 'serene smile' all the time. That wafty 'I'm enlightened, me' aura that all 'religious' tv characters have.

I like the Indira Varma character - she's a bit irritating but I like it for some reason. Love the way she dealt with the chap's bonkers mum.

I think the psychiatrist did it. He's got dodgy eyes.

SpaceUnicorn · 30/09/2016 12:34

Its a bit daft

And a bit shit. I really wanted to like this because I like a lot of the actors in it, but dear god the script (and consequently the acting) is painful.
Sad

Cocolepew · 30/09/2016 12:39

The young detective is a bit wooden .
Im not sure I'll bother watching any more.

I've found this show really disappointing so far. I almost gave up halfway through episode one but decided to persevere. Don't think I'll be watching episode three though, the woman from GOT is really irritating me and the dialogue is just too cringeworthy. Can't decide if the main characters are all terrible or if they're simply doing the best they can with what they've been given!

SpaceUnicorn · 30/09/2016 18:57

I'm the same. There are some great actors in it, but the script is so clunky and the characterisation so cartoonish I can't see how anyone could do a decent job with it.

The Guardian's write-up for this week's episode Grin

bumpetybumpbumpbump · 01/10/2016 15:59

I really like this Smilebut I'm a bit in love with Lesley sharpe so there you go. I agree it will be to do with drugs and Also the scenes with the German detective were ridiculous!

AnnieNoMouse · 01/10/2016 18:50

My theory is that the dead/drowned American actually faked his death and is the Ghost Detective and/or the woman's killer (if GD and killer are not the same, which I'm guessing they are)
How many episodes of this?

Cocolepew · 01/10/2016 21:38

8 all together Annie.

SpaceUnicorn · 01/10/2016 21:46

Oof, it's going to need to get a lot better very quickly to maintain an audience over 6 more episodes.

AnnieNoMouse · 01/10/2016 21:48

Thank you and oh dear Cocolpew - not sure I can sustain my interest for that many episodes Hmm

Cocolepew · 01/10/2016 22:11

I know, if there were a couple left I'd probably stick with it, but 6? Don't think I could manage that.

I'm most disappointed by the lack of any actual paranoia. It just seems like a complicated crime like,, ervery other police detective series.I wanted the extra dimension implied in the title.
I do like the title graphics in the advert breaks .

987flowers · 01/10/2016 22:49

I've only watched part 1. The house with the swimming pool and the dead man has been used in some other programme and it's really bugging me what! Does anyone know??

Optimist1 · 02/10/2016 08:55

Funny you should mention that flowers - I was thinking that, too. What sprung to my mind was Inside Number 9 episode where the inept burglars were trying to steal a painting. (There was a modern house, there was a pool - it could be that there the resemblence ends!)

987flowers · 02/10/2016 20:17

Oh yes we watched that! (That series was one of the weirdest things I've seen on telly!) I do remember that house and it was similar.

CoolCarrie · 02/10/2016 22:17

I think you are right about the same house, as Number 9, and think it going to be about some wonder drug that goes wrong, as the murdered woman's ex was a chemist wasn't he? Or something like that. It certainly isn't a patch on Call Of Duty, all the 3 series of that were bloody brilliant!

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/10/2016 22:11

Anyone still watching ?

I don't understand why they don't just take the ribbon out of the typewriter ? Surely that will tell them what's on the paper's .
