Jason leaving has to help, he is more wooden than a clothes peg.

I wish Kym Marsh was properly leaving too - I feel they are taunting us with what could have been with all this cruise ship talk.

Obviously I'm well aware it's not real, but I think in RL the scenario I envisaged would be more likely. It was clearly staged so the dramatic dying hour longmonologue could play out.

The amount of deaths is getting ridiculous though. There's David alone whose ex-girlfriend and wife were both murdered, has a sister who had a baby with a fella who ends up murdered, and had a step-dad who murderded people and wound up dead.

MargotLovedTom · 17/07/2016 13:13

Murdered not murderded!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 17/07/2016 17:45

Don't forget his brother's dad was murdered too, Margot.

And his mother was in jail for murder!

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 17/07/2016 18:07

And he's the only member of his family with a Leeds accent despite spending his entire life in Weatherfield. No wonder he's so messed up.

MargotLovedTom · 17/07/2016 18:13

Grin forgot about the other murders. I keep hearing Taggart's voice saying "Murrrrder" now.
The Leeds accent is really noticeable isn't it: "I've got us some doughnuts for us lunch". Maybe he should up sticks and move to Emmerdale, although it was also quite murdery there when I used to watch it.

Rachel0Greep · 17/07/2016 20:19

Agree the scene with Gail talking about Brian was incredibly moving. Not sure her advice to tell Max exactly how his mum died was correct though, he's really too young.

To me that was the best part of the episode, and the most realistic.
I took it to mean that Gail wanted David to make sure that Max understood that Kylie was dead. That maybe Gail had tried to soften the blow for Nick, when she had to tell him about his dad, and that he didn't realise that Brian was gone forever.

BringMeTea · 17/07/2016 20:27

Just caught up with it. I cried. Sad to see Kylie go. I actually pitied ratboy so he must have been doing something right.

millimat · 17/07/2016 22:12

Just caught up from Friday. Corrie have without doubt lost one of the best actresses they've ever had. I think it's a brave decision for Paula Lane to move on - will look forward to watching her in other things.
I thought David was fab. Best episode in ages when ignoring the practicalities of a medical centre being on the doorstep

JackieAndHyde4eva · 17/07/2016 22:25

Definitely!

I watched the omnibus earlier and sobbed like a baby. Not like me at all but it was because Kylie really was one of my favourite characters and i loved her relationship with David. I only ever like David when he is with Kylie. There is a dynamic there that he just doesnt have with anyone else and it is very human and caring and real. We have lost that now. He has lost that whole aspect of his character and will be a lesset character for it. Really sorry to see her go.

Rachel0Greep · 18/07/2016 06:51

True Jackie, about David. He and Kylie, even the times when they were not getting on well, made for great viewing. Even better, as things settled for them, and seeing them with the two children, it was credible, realistic. One of the few couples that seemed to be in it for the long haul together.

I thought Kylie's death speech was overdone. Not her fault, the scriptwriters. The 'hi Gail' was silly.

Loved Gail's part, and especially afterwards. I hope that we will see Helen Worth getting decent scripts, from now on. She deserves them, after the last number of years, she has been given just rubbish, IMO.

I'm sorry to see Paula leave. I do think she will go on to bigger and better things.

EachandEveryone · 18/07/2016 08:56

I'm sure we'll see loads more of her. I thought half the cast is from Yorkshire, not just David?

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 18/07/2016 10:22

each I think Paula Lane is from Yorkshire too. But David's accent is the most pronounced and jarring of all the cast. It just sounds wrong. Close runner up is Ken with his East Midlands accent.

cbigs · 18/07/2016 15:38

Jesus just sobbed at that . Hmm

Olddear · 18/07/2016 19:32

Here we go.....

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 18/07/2016 21:17

You'd think David would have learned by now that he's about eight stone wet through and about as scary as a wet fart, so acting the hard man will get him nowhere.

Eastie77 · 18/07/2016 21:36

Re accents: the worst offender was Michelle Collins, formerly on Eastenders, who had to adopt that ludicrous accent to play Stella. They could easily have written the part so that she was from London. Since she was Leanne's long lost mum there was no reason she HAD to be from the North. I believe she had a voice coach but as a Londoner myself I heard her real accent creeping in loud and clear all the time.

The actor who played Peter Barlow is from Nottingham I think and he said viewers used to write in and complain as occasionally his accent would 'slip'.

MadHattersWineParty · 19/07/2016 08:26

Blimey, the rest of the street was quite jolly considering one of the residents was stabbed to death on the cobbles less than 24hours ago.

pussinasda · 19/07/2016 08:36

whats going on with caz and maria are they going to get it together

cbigs · 19/07/2016 11:45

Omg! Caz and Maria?!? she dated a gay guy maybe a gay girl now?Hmm

cbigs · 19/07/2016 11:46

Caz irritates the Royal shots out of me tbh... Can't tell if it's badly acted or just an annoying character iyswim ...

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 19/07/2016 11:55

Or more likely Luke gets stupidly jealous thinking that Caz has designs on Maria.

eddiemairswife · 19/07/2016 12:04

I know Caz has been staying with Kate, but has she nowhere else? Has she been dismissed from the Army? I'm not sure what happens when a soldier is awaiting a court-martial.

Kirriemuir · 20/07/2016 20:00

That was very moving at the end with David in the funeral home.

Clawdy · 20/07/2016 21:06

Yes,it was, I'm really impressed with his acting at the moment.
