I think Littlefingers comment about him being bastard born in the South is relevant too.

His names not Jon
His names not Snow

Bastards born in Dorne are Sand

Aemon Sand

Ooo just thought

Team Dany

Targaryen, Tyrell, Martell, Lannister, Greyjoy

Team Jon

Mormont, Arryn, Royce, Manderly, Wildlings, Seaworth/Baratheon

HAVE IT! Grin

But there's connections to complicate shit. Theon and his allegiance. Sansa and hers. Lyanna and Jorah. It may well suit Sansa to be wife of The Hand. I'm hoping we don't see Lyanna die but all the children die horribly on this damn show

In the books its explained at the beginning of each one that the chapters don't run on from each other, different chapters take place over different time periods.

EverySongbirdSays · 27/06/2016 13:45

And this will be my last post til later as I have to do real life mores the pity but I disagree with PP that Westeros' own Peter Andre KNEW Tommen would die. I think he killed himself because he thought both Cersei and Margeary were there. And she didn't see that coming. She didn't want him to be in The Sept otherwise The Mountain wouldn't have been sent to trap him

OP posts:
youngestisapsycho · 27/06/2016 13:57

But The Mountain follows Cersei everywhere so Tommen must have known she hadn't left The Keep?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/06/2016 13:59

I don't think she knew or even considered that Tommen would kill himself, but I really don't think he assumed she was at the Sept. Why would she kill herself? If she didn't want Tommen at the Sept, why would she go?

EverySongbirdSays · 27/06/2016 14:02

Tommen ain't the sharpest tool in the box. She had been called by the HS to stand trial and that was were she ought to be.

Bit of an existential crisis looming for Jon: back from the dead (reluctantly); repeatedly finding himself in leadership roles he doesn't want (and arguably isn't very good at); his parents aren't who he thought they were; his name's not even Jon Snow

Sheesh! Ygritte was right: he really does know nothing!

OlennasWimple · 27/06/2016 14:07

Tbf, it took Margaery some time to realize Cersei wasn't showing up to the trial, and she was the smartest one there

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/06/2016 14:12

Cersei's outfit was terrifying, wasn't it? Very strong overtones of Nazi uniform, very militaristic.

NeedACleverNN · 27/06/2016 14:12

I was gutted Margaery died.....she and Olenna are two favourites.

Olenna may be an old lady but I think it would be wise not to under estimate her

misspym · 27/06/2016 14:12

Interesting episode. I loved the opening scenes.

Wondering about Melisandre. Will Jon come to regret the decision to banish her. She was a source of real power but seemed to lose her grip on it. Who is she most likely to encounter first on her trip south?

In relation to the Jon being legitimate thing. Wouldn't that only be the case in Lyanna married Rhaegar after his wife's death? I'm not sure of the timeline on that.

I didn't like the look of Littlefinger or Sansa during the 'King in the North' scene. It made me think of when Sansa said 'no-one can protect anyone'. I think she has realised that you can only protect yourself and the best way to do that is by wielding the most power.

NeedACleverNN · 27/06/2016 14:14

I felt a bit sorry for Melissandre..

She is ancient and has seen many atrocities. To her the death of one child to save thousands and succeed in the war was nothing. Obviously she has since removed herself from human emotions and doesn't see a problem.

I think she has probably since regretted that

misspym · 27/06/2016 14:19

I did too, a little bit anyway, in this episode.

I think in some ways she would have welcomed death but can she even die?

IPokeBadgers · 27/06/2016 14:23

Tyrion would make a much nicer husband - part of me would like to see Sansa and Tyrion wind up together.

They are both survivors, (getting) good at the Game, and could be a fantastic power couple! Appreciate that there might be a bit too much "baggage" for that to ever happen though....

KateLivesInEngland · 27/06/2016 14:26

Can I just ask about Jon? He's dead so when it comes to being attacked again, will he die die or is he immortal?
And Benjen said about the dead not being able to cross the wall. Does that mean Jon can't go north again? Meaning also the wall may have to come down before the wights can pass it?

OlennasWimple · 27/06/2016 14:42

Oh, good point Kate (though Benjen looks dead, in a way that Jon doesn't)

I think he can die again: Beric does, even if he is then brought back again

Mel annoyed me initially, but I think the actress who plays her is excellent, and made her more sympathetic than she should be

Tyrion did say to Sansa that he wouldn't sleep with her until she asked him to, clearly leaving the path open to a reunion...

She might end up the only one likely to have a child? Dany can't, Yara presumably can but isn't that way inclined, there are eunuchs aplenty, Cersei is presumably too old, Olenna certainly is...

KateLivesInEngland · 27/06/2016 14:53

I was thinking too about the first time they saw the wights. When they brought the two dead rangers back to castle black and they attacked Jon and Mormont and ghost saved the day. They technically passed the wall?

NeedACleverNN · 27/06/2016 14:55

Might have been able to because they were dead dead and not reanimated dead?

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 27/06/2016 15:19

"Wouldn't that only be the case in Lyanna married Rhaegar after his wife's death?"

Its suggested that Targs could be polyamourous, he could be legitimate

RedMapleLeaf · 27/06/2016 15:20

Some great acting from people I hadn't appreciated before - Loras, Lancel, Lord Percy etc.

Wasn't sure about the use of music at the beginning. Has GoT done that before?

NeedACleverNN · 27/06/2016 15:22

Poor Loras which his shaven locks Sad

That was a gorgeous head of hair

RedMapleLeaf · 27/06/2016 15:24

Ooh and I love the costumes in this, especially the changing styles and symbolism of the women's clothes.

YesThisIsMe · 27/06/2016 15:43

Thinking about it now, we've seen the destruction of four of the great houses: Bolton, Baratheon, Tyrell (apart from Olenna, who's a bit of a dead end) and Frey (presumably there are a lot of junior Freys but the house has been well and truly decapitated).

And all four of them women struck the final blow: Sansa, Brienne, Cersei, Arya.

CaitAgusMadra · 27/06/2016 16:52

Just watched - wow, amazing episode. Will watch again later with DH - a lot of the dark scenes were nearly impossible to see on my TV in the day light.

Few thoughts...

  • after having played the Tower of Joy scene a few hundred times I thought the name ended in ...rys. (Presume not Aerys though after the mad King?!). Would love it to be Aemon though, would be very fitting. In the books Rhaegar and Aemon Sr were close and corresponded quite a lot.
  • just a tiny bit disappointed in the end of the high sparrow / Marjaery story. I'd have liked more background on the HS and his game. And Marjaery's plan was just a deal with him to let Loras go?! Just seems like a lot of time spent on this storyline this series to just blow them all to kingdom come at the end
  • when they first showed Cersei water boarding the septa I thought it was Oleanna! (See above point re. dark scenes)
  • Cersei has really lost the plot. Pycelle, Uncle Kevan and the Tyrells are all gone. She only has the Mountain and Qyburn left in her corner now. Think Jaime is definitely not going to support her.

Loved the cinematography& music and can't wait to rewatch later
