I think it will be Jamie, she has always thought it will be Tyrion so for it to be Jamie will be a big shock to her.

Middleoftheroad · 07/07/2016 20:52

That theory would explain the mad queen
I'd heard that an interpretation of valonquor could mean brother or sisterConfused!!
A whole episode on tge tourney would be just brilliant. I love the flashbacks

OlennasWimple · 07/07/2016 20:52

Old Valerian in gender neutral, so it could be either brother or sister (or be figurative)

I like the idea that Cersei and Jamie are Targs (incest does seem to be a Targ thing, after all...)

OlennasWimple · 07/07/2016 20:55

Posted too soon...

I like the irony of Tyrion, who Tywin never really accepted as a Lannister, being his only true heir

Brienne has Targ heritage, doesn't she? Anyone else?

Middleoftheroad · 07/07/2016 21:04

Theories that Varys is one - but there are theories for ethg!

TheNorthRemembers · 07/07/2016 21:54

Every I am really sorry for not having replied, but I was shattered after helping out at school trip.
As for your GOT-rescue committee link: GOT cast and David Miliband are a dream team.

Twins also run in the Lannister family. If there was just a tiny smidgeon of chance that Cersei was Aerys's he would have accepted her as Rhaegar's bride, methinks. The trouble they went to find the ideal Valyrian / Targ wife for Rhaegar is astonishing (Aerys would have much preferred Viserys or one of the Baratheon boys to be a girl), they really only grudgingly settled on Elia Martell when they ran out of options and time (the Baratheons failed to find a bride in the Free Cities) and Rhaegar had to marry. In times of peace Targs marry by the age of 16, but Rhaegar would have been nearly twenty. Elia had the highest amount of Targ blood, so they chose her.

TheNorthRemembers · 07/07/2016 22:02

The Hightowers, Arryns, Dondarrions, Baratheons, Plumms, Velaryons all had Targ brides as well. The Free Cities seemed to be teeming with Blackfyre and Brightflame descendants. Daemon Blackfyre had 7 sons and some daughters.

Some speculate that Duncan the Small's Jenny (?) was a Reed and therefore the Reeds are Targs as well.

EverySongbirdSays · 07/07/2016 22:18

If only that pesky Ed hadn't run against his own brother, Britain would still be great.

Blimey that's some background knowledge!
It's funny how much we love flashbacks but I guess it's because they resolve long standing mysteries. It would be good to understand Lyanna and Ned's characters more. I still really want to know what Howland is up to these days!!!

Middleoftheroad · 07/07/2016 22:34

Sorry to break the flow - am in awe again with the detail from you all - but am chuffed with this watch face app for my new smart watch

Wow! I could not see the point of Apple watches until now (the advert said: you can use ebay on it, but why would you?!), but it looks really cool.

EverySongbirdSays · 07/07/2016 22:41

Howland's absence is becoming rather the plot hole I think. Like, he has two teenagers who went to stay with friends and the castle came under attack, and he hasn't rocked up to check if they are, you know, ALIVE?!

AliceInHinterland · 07/07/2016 22:46

Didn't loads of stuff go down at The Neck with the iron born too - isn't that his territory? Where is he?!!

Middleoftheroad · 07/07/2016 23:01

TheNorth I wasnt sure but love my Galaxy S2 watch now. If i get bored I can swap to another house. But which house is one to choose?

OlennasWimple · 08/07/2016 02:51

Question: what is the official story about Lyanna's death?

In the season one finale, Bran tells Osha that Lyanna was taken by Rhaegar "and then she died", which made me wonder how her body got back to Winterfell, what the official account of her death is, and who knows what about the circumstances of her death?

Also - the witch tells Dany that Khal Drogo will come back to her "when the sun rises in the west" etc etc. So if Dany does get upduffed at some point, could he come back? Burnt body might make it tricky I suppose (but I loved them as a couple, so I can but hope)

OlennasWimple · 08/07/2016 02:52

Middle - Mormont, of course!!

TheNorthRemembers · 08/07/2016 07:32

Lyanna's body was brought back by Ned and he said nothing. She died at the Tower of Joy. That is all. He let other people fill in the gaps. For instance we hear Robert Baratheon talk about Lyanna's death and he was nowhere near. Ned makes absolutely no comment to Robert other than something like you didn't really know her very well.

I would have a Lannister watch. [snigger]

Middleoftheroad · 08/07/2016 07:56

Hmmmm.... dare I say Targ at the mo for the many faced watch?

Just on book 2 reading Dany's visions in the house of the undying and still getting excited about the great stone beast flying from a smoking tower, breathing shadow fire;

i know most see that as an ice dragon but love the idea the gargoyles that adorn Winterfell (and Dragonstone) may come to life. But then I always got excited that the Titan would come to life.

Which is the 'best' book and am I about to find the next ones a tough slog?

Oooh middle I'm on book 2 again as well, little bit behind you though as the Qarth welcome party has just ridden to meet Dany.

Re flashbacks, my OH said last week he can see them not letting go of the money train keeping the story alive after season 8 with a Prequel season filling in all the back story, would love it if so!

EverySongbirdSays · 08/07/2016 12:39

Isn't it established canon "in the show" as well as "in the books" that Lyanna was found in "a bed of blood" - someone says it. Robert? Ned? Cersei?

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 08/07/2016 12:40

I've not read Egg and Dunk yet but they might make that. Or Knight of The Seven Kingdoms or The Ice Dragon.

OP posts:
TheNorthRemembers · 08/07/2016 13:33

Middle My favourite is Book 3, the Storm of Swords and the Hedge Knight from Dunk and Egg.

TheNorthRemembers · 08/07/2016 13:38

I may be wrong, but I thought that the bed of blood was only mentioned in Net's inner thoughts. It is a dead giveaway about Jon.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/07/2016 15:24

It's book 4 (A Feast of Crows) where it gets really dull.
