I'm about 50 pages into my re-read. Tyrion is doing handsprings - I'd completely forgotten that they have him learning acrobatics as a child in the books. Clearly the show runners thought about the casting challenge they were already facing, and thought there was no sodding way they were going to demand that they cast someone with gymnastic ability, especially since IIRC George forgets all about it pretty quickly.

I'm nearing the end of my re-read...finally started ADwD, yay . It's been great, I can't believe how many cool things I missed first time round. The first few chapters in GOT in particular are just packed full of info and fore-shadowing.

One thing that really struck me was how much the Isle of Faces was mentioned in the first few books. I can't help but think we'll see more about this in the next books

I'm hoping TWOW will be released soonish. If not think I'll give the Dunk and Egg stories a go.

If you do "first 200 pages" can it be a chapter like "finished the second chapter from Tyrion's POV" or something, otherwise Kindle readers might not know (pages get messed up often).

Cait I'd love to see the Isle of Faces. Prince Daemon Targaryen died in the most badass way / lived out his life with Nettles (delete as appropriate). The whole place sounds very mysterious.
Dunk and Egg is way better than TWOW can ever be. It is just tighter and better written.

Also I saw people talking about Jaime's status. My understanding was that he is no longer Kingsguard. But he is head of House Lannister, no? Am I making this up?

I am not sure what happens in TWOW, but I think in the show Jon will be legitimate and his claim will be better than Dany's to make it more exciting. It will be fun to watch Dany find out that a) she is not alone in this world, b) she is not the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.

Cersei is a killer, who is facing a massive war and does not have the love/loyalty of the people. She will die, which makes her current status almost an irrelevance, so it's Jaime. It would still be Jaime ruling Casterly Rock in the name of the Queen were she a fully sane and legit Queen.

One of my ponders is how Tommen will die in TWOW. He's a small child. He isn't going to launch himself out a window.
