Just watching it for the fourth time now. How come the HS doesn't have the seven star carved into his own head?

EverySongbirdSays · 28/06/2016 15:09

Good question Soot I don't know.

Here's Emergency Awesome S7 predictions. He thinks Jon has always been his name. I don't agree.

I thought that soot
I suppose it's just reflective of a lot of cult leaders who get their minions to do the work, while they 'lead' or are the 'chosen one' or whatever

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 15:50

Big villain = the Night King, surely?

Lweji · 28/06/2016 15:55

Ups, almost forgot about that one, in the middle of the three kings/queens excitement.

WeDoNotSow · 28/06/2016 15:58

Has anyone read GRRMs short story about the ice dragon? It's speculated to be in the same universe as ASOIAF.
They're about three times bigger than normal dragons too..

Also, what age do dragons lay eggs? I want more dragons

pyrowall · 28/06/2016 16:19

I've been saving up some Amazon vouchers to buy the series so I can watch it on my commute - happy days this morning!!

I'm a bit late the party because of reasons but OMG!!!

The music and the costumes of Tommen and Cercei - my heart broke when Tommen walked out of the window Sad to realise that he had no-one left that he respected or love - it was a stark choice and my only :gasp: moment of the episode.

I haven't rewatched the ToJ yet so I'll pay special attention to that to put my poor lip reading skills to the test!

I'm not sure Arya has a way back to redemption - she's so completely broken by her experiences.

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 16:31

I would guess dragons need to be mature before they can lay eggs, so hopefully they age as fast as Bran, not like baby Sam Smile

SoTheySentMeA · 28/06/2016 16:35

I watched a review today that said if you turn the Tower of Joy scene up really loud you can hear Lyanna say "his name is Jon". I haven't tried it yet but will do when I get home.

I know everyone thinks Lyanna must not have gotten the chance to name him because she died but what if she and Rhaegar talked about names before the baby can? What if he asked to name a boy Jon? Not after Jon Arryn who everyone thinks he was named after, but after Rhaegars best friend Jon Connington?

Sorry if already been mentioned, having to dip in and out as been at work.

Lweji · 28/06/2016 16:40

How do you check a dragon for their sex?
I must have missed it. Is there a girl in the 3?

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 16:43

I said probably the same way as bearded dragons such as femoral pores and stuff but someone said in the book they were gender fluid and able to switch between the two

Middleoftheroad · 28/06/2016 17:25

Isnt there a theory about awaking dragons in the crypt at winterfell and a line about waking giants? Ice dragons would be cool so maybe thats why we can expect 7 episodes - to combat soaring cgi costs.

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 18:53

Please let there be more Giants!!

MaterofDragons · 28/06/2016 19:46

I've had a thought about endgame: When Aegon the Conqueror came to westeros he came on 3 dragons with his sisters. His sisters became his wives to keep the bloodline pure and so began their dynasty and long reign.

What if endgame is for history to repeat itself and Dany (Aegon), Tyrion (brother) and Jon (nephew) are her husbands on Dany's 3 dragons and their dynasty will rule for hundreds of years?

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 28/06/2016 19:50

I bet that the very last scene ever is something to do with the hall of faces

Mumanddadtoone · 28/06/2016 19:54

Just read an interesting article on the subject of Varys time travelling. It says that he didn't go all the way back to Meereen as some of the ships had the Martell and Tyrell banners and they probably met up with Dany and the rest of her ships somewhere off the coast of Dorne. It certainly makes more sense than going all the way back to Meereen just to return to Westeros again.

iisme · 28/06/2016 20:22

In my head, they are just late showing us what happened with Sam and Gilly

But the arrived at Old Town just in time to see all the white doves departing to announce winter had come, and then later one arrived at Winterfell. It might take a while for one to get all that well (actually, how does that even work?) but they can't be that out of sync. In fact, I think the release of the white doves was timed to link them into the main storyline. Which is odd, because it doesn't work.

Sam feels quite out of place overall. Things are moving so fast elsewhere - the climax has approached. But Sam has spent the whole season travelling to Old Town to begin his training as a maester, which presumably takes years. I guess he'll quickly find something crucial in one of those 12 million books and then race back north to be useful, but it feels a bit unconnected.

Lweji · 28/06/2016 20:27

Wasn't it white ravens?

Middleoftheroad · 28/06/2016 20:28

I thought the scene in The Citadel was a great comic element and a bit of light relief. Sam was brilliant. I am convinced he will hold part of the puzzle. I recognised the actor playing the pedantic librarian maester...but dont know where from. A comedian?

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 20:33

Yes it was a white Raven. Very rare and only used for big news

Middleoftheroad · 28/06/2016 20:42

Every I loved this episode too. My fabourite this season. Never seen a Preston review - you're right, he slags it off but AIBU to confess that it made me belly laugh all the same? Going to watch the Emergency Awesome one now as I do like his work.

Also, as OP is there a GoT corner where we can all live on MN now that winter is here? The loss will be even worse without any of our MN GoT musings.

TheSecondOfHerName · 28/06/2016 21:07

Watched episode 10 again this afternoon with DS1. Now watching it with DH. Smile

RJnomore1 · 28/06/2016 21:20

I've just watched the ToJ scene about six times with the sound on full. I've closed my eyes to listen better, tried lipreading - you name it.

I could swear she says he's called Aerys. No way though surely of all the names - the mad kings name?

EverySongbirdSays · 28/06/2016 21:21

Middle - his rant on Arya was pretty good.

I figured we'd keep this going until it runs out (on Post 1000) and then open up a "Winterfell" or "Castle Black" and just keep the corner going between Seasons for news/discussion as has been done on here for other "fandoms" like Musketeers.

OP posts:
TheHiphopopotamus · 28/06/2016 21:26

I liked the Sam at the Citadel scene as well. When he had to reach over to put the letter in the Maester's hand was brilliant.

Sorry, I'm not as up on GoT lore as a lot of you so this is probably a stupid question but are Maesters or trainee Maesters allowed to have 'partners'? And would they even let Gilly and the baby in?
