Loved this episode! Finally feels like the saga is reaching its conclusion after a bit of a bloated middle (in book terms at least). The opening scenes were so well done and the music was great. Cersei is well on the way to being a mad queen.

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 11:11

I think her heart is dead now.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/06/2016 11:21

When is the next series?! It's going to be a long wait!

HandbagCrab · 28/06/2016 11:39

I don't see Jon and Dany together. I want Jon to fall in lurve before his probable grisly end and i don't see how there's enough time for them to meet, fall in love and defeat all their enemies. Plus if he is her nephew it is a bit ick regardless of how Targaeryns have behaved in the past. Cercei sleeping with Lancel was the incest she was on trial for, so aunt/nephew isn't percieved as being normal in Westeros.

I think Dany/Tyrion might be a nice wedding though and would fit more easily into the story :)

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 11:39

I suspect the list of people wanting to kill Walder Frey is pretty long

Might some of the Lannister party have seen Ayra when she was Arry, Tywyn's serving boy?

I think Jon will end up dead again, but he will be happy to make that sacrifice to save the world

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/06/2016 11:44

Has anyone seen the theories about Tyrion? And that he is actually a Targaryan as well?

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 11:44

That's been going around for a while now..
Would be interesting if he is

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 11:44

I thought Lancel was a forbicatuon charge (which Cercei admitted) but Jamie was the nicest charge which Cercei was to have stood trial for (as she denied it, except to the Septa)

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/06/2016 11:47

There's also a few other points that aren't in there, one being that only a Targaryan can birth a Targaryan which is why their mothers all die in childbirth... (As we know Tyrions did.)

TMI26 · 28/06/2016 11:53

cersei was not on trial for incest she was on trial for cheating on her husband. tywin Lannister married his cousin out of love, the idea was entertained to get Sansa and Lord of the eerie married, and they were cousins. Also there was talk of Tyrion marrying his fat cousin at one point? So I'm not sure this is too much of an issue for GOT and Jon and Dany have a whole season to meet and fall in love (although would be predictable) plus dany cannot have children???

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 11:56

They can't all die in childbirth can they?

I mean Viserys was older than Daneyrs but they are brother and sister.

TMI26 · 28/06/2016 11:57

Something that annoys me is how quick people seem to be skipping between mereen and westoros, what should be a dangerous road, years of travelling and life threatening enemies looks as though it is a hop across the channel

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 11:57

The theory falls apart a bit on closer inspection. Tywin remained Aerys Hand for 8 years after Tyrion was born. He only quit when Aerys told him Cersei wasn't good enough to be married off to his heir Rhaegar. Tywin got in a snot and resigned and spent the rest of Aerys reign back in Casterly Rock making money.

So he turned his back on Aerys not because of the supposed rape and impregnation of his wife but because Aerys was rude about his daughter? Doesn't make sense. Particularly given Tywins steely eyed personality.

Also nobody else in the Kingdom thought it. Aunt Genna (who we've not met) once even told Tywin that young preteen Tyrion was a chip off the old block. Tywin was highly offended and didn't speak to her for 3 days. All Tywin could see was the dwarfism - and the attitude.

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 12:00

Yes the time hopping did irritate slightly.

When I saw Varys standing behind Dany on the ship I commented to dh that "it was a quick trip from Dorne back to Mereen"

Plus when Olenna was first with the sandseeds I was under the impression she didn't know about her family until she mentioned it thought blimey in pre internet day's news travels fast

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 12:03

Varys clearly has one of Hermiones time turner thingys under his muu muu.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/06/2016 12:05

Who are Danerys and her brothers parents?

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 12:08

You know I'm not sure.. Was it ever mentioned?

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 28/06/2016 12:11

Daenarys, viserys and rhaegar are the children of mad King aerys and his sister rhaella. Jon, rhaenys and aegon are the children of rhaegar with lyanna then Elia of dorne.
It can't be the case that non targaryan women all die in childbirth as Elia had 2 and was still alive.

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 12:15

If Tywin had thought Tyrian wasn't his, he wouldn't have been at court. He was an embarrassment to Tywin, and we've seen how bastards are normally treated

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 28/06/2016 12:16

Tywin would have killed tyrion if he thought he was a bastard, he said so.
Doesn't mean tyrion isn't, but I doubt tywin believed so

HandbagCrab · 28/06/2016 12:24

My mistake about Cercei's trial then.

I haven't read the books so I don't really understand why everyone needs to be a Targ for them to be rulers or why Jon and/or Tyrion being discovered as Targs would make them better at being kings. I'd like to think as this is fantasy that actions could speak more loudly than surnames. What's the point of Jon rising from bastard to king of the north if all along he was king of westeros anyway?

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 12:24

Tywin had a bit of a blind spot for his children, though, didn't he - not paying heed to the rumours about Cercei and Jaime, or the fact he had three golden haired grandchildren while all Robert's bastards were dark. Hmm

TheHiphopopotamus · 28/06/2016 12:55

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I haven't RTFT (yet!). Mumsnet cardinal sin, I know, but...

How the hell did Varys get back from Dorne in time to be on the boat with Dany as she sailed from Mereen? And Oleanna managed to sail from Highgarden to Dorne after hearing the news about her family in (seemingly) no time at all. And yet Jaime, who was still in the same country at this point, didn't seem to know what had happened when he got back to King's Landing.

And I loved this ep, thought it was ace, but none of the timings seemed to make sense Confused

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 12:56

Fuck knows.. There was a few bits of plot holes when it came to the time scale

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 28/06/2016 13:00

There were definitely timeline issues in this series, a small amount of time passing on one story line while at the same time whole sea voyages have taken place and whole fleets have been built… and then they all join up at the same point in time??
