Did anyone else think the actress who played Lyanna looked quite a lot like Emilia Clarke?

Trills · 28/06/2016 07:59

Sansa hasn't seen Tyrion growing wiser and being kind though, has she? She doesn't know him.

Are there no other boys in the whole of the Seven Kingdoms and beyond? Can't we hope for her to find happiness with someone who is Tyrion or Littlefinger?

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 08:16

I think marrying Jon makes sense if Dany wants to unify the Kingdom. And if he defeats the WW (which she doesn't even know about God help her) then he'll need to be rewarded.

Only fly in the ointment is that he's her bloody nephew! But that might not come out - only person who knows is Bran and he may decide it's better for everyone not to know once Dany arrives on the scene.

I think Sansa will end up killing LF. Fuckity bye then!

I think it was pretty obvious that Tyrion has half fallen in love with Dany. But I think they're gonna play it as sweet rather than a real problem. Or as a mooning devotion thing like Jorah. Who by the way has to turn up now in Westerns to join the gang. Lyanna is his only living family - really hope they meet! I imagine she'll spit on him at first lol.

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 08:21

The whole "annulment" thing has been weirdly done. Does Tyrion know? He must surely since Varys has apparated Harry Potter style back and forth. Varys must have brought all the news back.

And LF practically proposing like that.....

I guess the show really does want us to believe it's a real annulment and wants us to draw a line under it. it's all a bit abrupt and means it was a totally pointless storyline but hey ho.

The messed up thing is that Sansa will always be prey whilst she's single. She'd be better off married to someone she could trust. That way she'd have armour against the creeps.

RJnomore1 · 28/06/2016 08:29

Somethings not sitting right with me about the tower of joy. Perhaps someone can explain?

See Arthur Deybe is kingsguard right? We are assuming he's been left to protect lyanna. Does he know rhaegar is dead?

If they've been instructed to protect her and the baby why have they not gone for help or a master when it's become obvious to the women that the birth is not going well?

And why is he fighting her brother to stop him seeing her? Does he think ned being a friend of Roberts means he would put his own sister at risk?

And if the Starks know she ran off and wasn't abducted why would they think she needed rescuing in the first place?

SoTheySentMeA · 28/06/2016 08:41

GRRM (or Grim as I tend to read it in my head) has said the ending will be bittersweet. I take this to mean that the 3 fan favourites Dany, Jon and Tyrion are not all going to survive. We've seen how great Dany is at conquering but overall her rule in Meereen was pretty mismanaged until Tyrion arrived. I think she's going to conquer westeros but die in the battle with the white walkers. Then Jon will be revealed as the true kind and Tyrion will be his hand because he's good at it and he loves it (obviously after he's ridden one of the dragons and helped westeros survive the long night so everyone knows he's really a hero).

I just want all the good things for Tyrion to be honest, I luffs him.

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 08:46

I dunno if it was clear whether she ran off or was abducted. Robert certainly believed it was against her will.

Arthur Deyne was protecting Rhaegars baby. The war had been super bloody so yeah he couldn't take chances.

And the ToJ is really really remote. That was it's whole point. And it looked like the birth was a mess so maybe it came on earlier than expected, I guess.

weirdsister · 28/06/2016 09:03

How will the dragons cope at Winterfell? If they can't survive cold temperatures they will be useless against the white walkers.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/06/2016 09:03

I also thought she looked a lot like Emilia Clarke!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/06/2016 09:09

I can't remember the relevant ages in book or show, but Jon and Daenerys are about the same age, yes, and Daenerys is a much more plausible child for Rhaegar to have than Jon from the colouring point of view. I didn't think Lyanna was particularly dark (nor was Ned, for that matter) - just brown-haired rather than blonde.

Lots of holes in the idea that we're being double bluffed, though.

  • How and why would Ned have got Daenerys to Dragonstone? Viserys believed she was his sister (but was he old enough to know whether his mother had had a baby or not?). If he knew Daenerys was Lyanna's child, it would explain why he was against Robert's plan to have her killed, but surely he'd have been even more vehement about it?
  • Who is Jon? Why would Ned have taken another random baby home if he had no connection with him?

I still cling to the fact that Meera Reed has very similar colouring and hair to Jon. Is that just coincidence?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/06/2016 09:10

'He' being Ned above there - not Viserys!

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 28/06/2016 09:17

Where has the idea come from that lyanna's baby is daenarys?! I don't believe that at all

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 09:19

No chance because she clearly said his name is and Robert will kill him

Fiderer · 28/06/2016 09:33

I know they've got 85 plots going on - would like to have seen more of some storylines though. I

Realised rather belatedly that one of the serving girls at the Frey's must have been Arya - right? Also late figuring out Qyburn was getting his own revenge on Pycelle as well of ridding Cersei of him. He wasn't much of a threat as he seemed to go with whomever he thought on the up, was rotten & horrid too.

Who's going to reveal Jon's parentage?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/06/2016 09:38

Yes, on my second watching I was paying more attention during the scene between Bronn and Jamie at the feast with the Freys. A serving wench was looking in their direction and that was what started Bronn's conversation about how all the women were mad for Jaime. I'm pretty sure that was Arya with her Faceless Man face on.

TMI26 · 28/06/2016 09:55

It was arya, she was eyeing up Jamie. The whole nephew aunt thing isn't really a problem as the tagareyens would marry their siblings to keep the blood pure. If you remember cersei and roberts babies all babies Robert fathered had dark hair and dark eyes, as the seed was strong, this makes me think it was stron against white/blonde haired Targarian. I don't think lyanna went willingly, there was no maester present and she was betrothed to Robert - would Tobert have waged rebellion for a 'maybe' I think bed was protecting Jon as Robert would have killed him if he knew he was the result of his beloved's rape and torture. Rahygear in the books is described as soft, caring and likes to read books-it does seem out of character that he would do this to lyanna there must be an underlying story line between targareyan / baratheon / stark and Tyrell's from dorne. It would be bitter sweet if Jamie end up murdering. Cersei if she becomes mad in her rule to save the kingdom, I think he will but end up killing himself.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/06/2016 09:56

Arya didn't really need her face on though: no one would recognise her. Area is supposed to have a look of Lyanna now, and be very beautiful. I do like Maisie, but she's no beauty.

Will Bran have to sacrifice himself by not crossing the wall in order to keep it intact?

Middleoftheroad · 28/06/2016 09:59

The battle between Qyburn and Pycelle has been going on since Dr FrankenGleg arrived in KL. Pycelle disregarded and belitted Qyburn for his unorthadox and new medicine while Qyburn felt meddling old Pycelle was a barrier and resented him too. That city wasn't big enough for the both of them. His speech about out with the old embodied this.

On my rewatch I kept my eye on Arya serving girl. It is definitely Arya at that point due to the way she watches Jaime, which is more than about lust for his golden looks.

TMI26 · 28/06/2016 10:02

Also what happened to Robert baratheons bastard? Seems like a bit of a wasted story line?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/06/2016 10:05

Arya had to be in disguise, but not because she expected to be recognised as Arya Stark. Once Walder Frey's body is discovered everybody will be looking for the serving girl, who will have disappeared.

Fiderer · 28/06/2016 10:46

I would like to have seen more (well, anything) between Tommen & Margaery before their deaths. Not that I liked either of them but I found his death a "Blimey he jumped" rather than the tragic act of a distraught young man. Since she went all "goddy" we didn't see them together at all (?), not even her poisoning him against Cersei. Though this being GoT I should rephrase that.

Would also like to have seen more of the Faith Militant in KL. Someone on a thread here one commented on how their revival was more to do with the aftermath of years of war & poverty. That the poor would love a chance to gawk at the rich & powerful being humiliated I can understand, but surely the middle/upper class must have been worried they'd be next for their various degrees of degradation, debauchery & ungodly behaviour. Esp as it'd be a good way to get back at your enemies, personal & business. "He cheated me, your High Sparrow-ness" with appropriate quote.

ElspethFlashman · 28/06/2016 10:51

Also Jamie has met Arya. It may have been years ago but look how much Tyrion recognised Theon! Even remarked on how shit he looked now in comparison so he definately remembered him properly. Jamie isn't an oblivious type either.

I thought Tommen was played quite well in the short time we knew him. He always looked sick as a parrot and looked horribly conflicted and cowed. He was a good person who was being squashed by his mother every day and he knew it.

The only person he really believed in was Margery. And perhaps the High Sparrow. Once his courtier told him there were no survivors than his mother, he knew why she'd barred him from leaving and he knew she'd done it all. And he knew he had done nothing to stop her and he had nothing left. Poor boy.

NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 10:54

Jaime probably suspected it was Arya but he has no clue what she has been training or where she was so didn't know how much of a threat. Though by this he hated the Freys and was probably glad to be rid

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/06/2016 10:57

Yes there wasn't much emoting last night was there? No Tommen breaking down, no Cersei going mad with grief. I would have imagined Cersei, in particular, to be tearing her hair out. Her plan went very wrong.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 28/06/2016 11:00

What's going on with Bran? How are they meant to get anywhere? Confused
