Both Rhaegar and Aerys were dead at that stage

Donatellalymanmoss · 27/06/2016 23:30

Hi, long time reader but I rarely have anything to contribute as I need to rewards the entire 6 series to understand what's going on.

But I think the subject of baretheon hair dark hair may have been a device to highlight that Cersei's children were gathered by Jaime and not Robert. lya na clearly has dark hair so it's not an issue for Jon.

Looking forward to next April already.

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 27/06/2016 23:31

Yara is going to apply to the Essos Union for funding to keep her economy going. Too soon?

Grin

Seriously though, she'ld be queen of nothing on the Iron throne, they have no economy without the pillaging

weirdsister · 27/06/2016 23:32

I agree that tyrion is in love with dany. He was talking about himself when he said that other men would Iove her.

Sansa looked genuinely delighted for Jon during the King of the north scene. I don't think she'll settle for little finger. Little finger looked like he was chewing a wasp though.

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 27/06/2016 23:37

Yara is a pirate queen who has promised not to do pirating!
Hmm

NeedACleverNN · 27/06/2016 23:38

Tyrions face when she pinned that badge on him made me tear ever so slightly.

My MIL is dead to me! She said it was a shit episode

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 27/06/2016 23:39

I don't think she'll settle for little finger. Little finger looked like he was chewing a wasp though

I don't think she'll marry him, but I think she'ld have angry sex with him

Sansa and Tryian have the sort of respect for each other than would have constituted a reasonably happy marraige in those days, people didn't often marry for love anyway, and she would be tolerant and sympathetic about his sad eyes lurve for Dany, and he'ld let her have angry sex with little finger

Middleoftheroad · 27/06/2016 23:40

The Mountain = Lord Vader head.

Dont think of Tyrion and Dany in that way. I have hope for Tyrion and Sansa still. I want him to be happy. He's my favourite character now, though Jon did actually crack a joke. Of sorts WINTER IS HERE!

EverySongbirdSays · 27/06/2016 23:40

Peeps need to let Gendry go man.

Varys and Tyrion are currently supporting Dany.

Should Dany die if we accept that in the event of her rule Cersei is definitely dead and Jaime is still sort of Kingsguard.

Who's Dany's heir? Doesn't have one? Let's look around the family tree

Who's her heir? OOO YEP, IT'S TYRION.

Littlefinger wants Littlefinger on the throne but he's BARELY highborn, he wasn't highborn enough to marry either Cat or Lysa. The army he has belongs to his fragile stepson who could cark it at any moment and if he did in fact die that army would fall to the heir to the Vale who ISN'T Littlefinger, leaving him with NO army and NO allies.

When last he saw Cersei he promised to come back with Sansa's head.

Sansa either gets murdered by Littlefinger as a powerplay, or is rescued by the return of Tyrion.

OP posts:
FadedRed · 27/06/2016 23:40

In regard to Dany and the 'power' marriage. If there is no longer any need for a power marriage, then maybe she can have the true love in Mereen after all?

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 27/06/2016 23:43

Littlefinger would so call Sansa "cat" in the heat of the moment though if she did go there…

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/06/2016 23:47

Daario isn't Dany's true love. He loves her, but she said she felt nothing saying goodbye to him.

What if they're all a generation early with their prophecies, Dany and Jon get it together and their baby is the Prince Who Was Promised?

OlennasWimple · 27/06/2016 23:48

The Hand badge scene was lovely, seeing Dany uncertain rather than "rah, I am in charge", but also served as a neat set-up for the shot of the Hand badge on Qyburn

There are a few places with an uncertain economic outlook, now Dany has prohibited their main industries (slavery etc)...

All jokes aside, I did like the scene where the shepherd cane in with his child's skeleton: it was a real reminder that waging peace is just as tricky as waging war

NeedACleverNN · 27/06/2016 23:49

AIBU? The man I just fucked, but don't love just called me my mothers name during sex. Fwiw he helped to murder my father and by that thought my mother.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/06/2016 23:50

Let me see...the Iron Islanders could do:

a) Tourism - got some lurvely weather there on Pyke
b) Shipbuilding...without trees
c) Transporting goods between Westeros and the rest of the world
d) Exploring and bringing home treasure pillaging somewhere further away that Dany doesn't know about

EverySongbirdSays · 27/06/2016 23:51

I need to point out again about Dany's fertility as has been mentioned before. Someone mentioned earlier she "can't" have children.

True. Not true. Mirri Maz Duur, the witch who tricked her with Drogo gave a riddle

TAKEN FROM WESTEROS.ORG

Mirri Maz Duur’s Prophecy

P. 635

"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east," said Mirri Maz Duur. "When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before."

This might be a real prophecy, or it may simply be a sort of curse to strike terror and despair into Daenerys's heart. The conditions put forward have a distinct ring of fairy-tale about them, and with Martin this could just as easily be taken to work against the likelihood of them coming true as in favour of it. For what it is worth, however, it seems just possible that A Dance with Dragons has satisfied most of the conditions if read metaphorically. Consider that Quentyn Martell "the Sun's son", referring to the Martell sun journeyed from the west to the east, where he died, that in Daenerys's last chapter she notes that the Dothraki sea is going dry and the grasses are dying, two of the pyramids of Meereen collapse in smoke and ash following Viserion and Rhaegel rampaging through the city and that she menstruates (or possibly suffers a miscarriage). This of course leaves us the need for a living child, and then the "return" of Drogo... though our speculation is that if she has a child, it will be a son that she names Drogo, thereby fulfilling Mirri's claim.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/06/2016 23:58

One more question and then I must go to bed and stop theorising!

What sort of big religious face-off is brewing in the books? We have:

a) The High Sparrow/Faith Militant/Seven Gods, who have now been deaded in the shows
b) Euron Greyjoy and the creepy bit about the Drowned God in that latest chapter from WoW
c) Melisandre, Thoros of Myr and that new Red Priestess in Meereen with the Lord of Light
d) The Weirwood Trees/Old Gods/Bran as the Three-Eyed Raven.

There might be more religions I can't think of right now. If the Wall comes down and the Others invade, will it be proven that the Old Gods are the only real gods?

EverySongbirdSays · 27/06/2016 23:58

My "vision" for END GAME is :

  1. Jon and Dany, as ick as it is, will marry and have babba's. this is not the modern world, aunt/nephew is at least not as bad as siblings

  2. Tyrion and Sansa - happy marriage. They have Casterly Rock.

  3. Jamie dies in Brienne's arms. Her and Tormund are Kingsguard they are shagging.

  4. I expected Rickon to become Lord Stark but obvs not now. I don't feel that it can be Bran as he is in a tree as the Raven. If not it's Bran.

  5. Arya. Can't settle doesn't fit in. Has lost her humanity. Becomes Nymeria is at peace. Sad

EverySongbirdSays · 28/06/2016 00:07

I think a point is being made about organised religion yes. Where we'll end up - who knows?

Initially in Europe pre-Christianity you had tree worship, so effectively the old Gods.

This gave way to druidry. So Lord Of Light type stuff.

Which gave way to organised religion so Churches/Texts

Which gave way to people believing that they could just pay tithes and be favoured by God because they had money "Faceless Men"

What came next?

Reformation

What came next?

Atheism.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/06/2016 00:17

Surely Jo's real name is Azor Ahai. The prince who was promised.

In the books didn't Rhaegar have some sort of dreams, or study some old prophecies (can't quite remember) about needing a third child to ride the three dragons, which is one reason he went off with Lyanna Stark when Elia was too sickly to have more children? Jon was planned to ride the dragon. Rhaegar's other children were murdered though.

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 28/06/2016 00:17

d) Exploring and bringing home treasure pillaging somewhere further away that Dany doesn't know about

See, if I was Yara, when Dany said "no more piratin' K?" I'ld have negotiated and said "K, well we promise to not pirate anywhere else in westeros, but if there's anything WEST of westeros, it's ours for the taking"

But she didn't, she just promised that the Iron born wouldn't do any more rape'n'pillaging any more at all

standingonlego · 28/06/2016 00:19

I think gendry will be back as the only person able to forge brand new valerian steel. He was a talented blacksmith, made that awesome bull helmet in S1 and I think was involved in the recasting of ice (Neds sword) into the 2 blades oath keeper (now with Brienne) and widows wail (was joffreys, then tommen...where is it now?)

OlennasWimple · 28/06/2016 00:24

Few more stages before atheism Smile

Counter reformation, pietism and Methodism, for a start .

Interesting figurative completion of the prophecy: I can't see Drogo coming back now (he died and was burnt many moons ago), so someone (Daarios?) needs to get Dany upduffed and not mind his son being named after her first husband...

Calling him Azor Ahai would be like calling your kid

Boy With A Big Nose

or

Girl With Red Hair

theirs Biblical precedent though. Hosea gave his kids wild names.

They were called

"No Love Or Pity" Lo-Ammi
"Not My People" Lo-Ruhamah
and

"Yahweh will destroy Jehu's line and all of Israel" (Jezreel)

someone needs to do an AIBU with those names for a sheer laugh. Grin
