The way Porthos is stomping about and growling at everyone, I think he'd have preferred it too... Still - we've got 5 episodes for him to meet someone as well.

Agree with helen that the women haven't had too much to work with so far. Queenie has been reduced to a bit player in the palace, I am hoping for a future power struggle with Feron. Think she looks magnificent this season though (predictably). I'm pleased Connie is being less wet this series. Action Connie is my favourite Connie, I could do with her being less narky towards the boys though - they've been at war for 4 years, not on a jolly. Well, not Aramis.

Is this the theme for s3 - sexual frustration?

Connie doesn't want a baby, so Dog's not getting any
Athos gets the new girl, so Porthos isn't getting any
Aramis has had 4 years of celibacy & still fancies Queenie, so he's not getting any
Trev's not been withing sniffing distance of a snog let alone a shag for 2 and a half series now, so he's clearly not getting any

Someone please throw them a party and invite us lots of women

I remember an interview with Adrian Hodges (I think it was him) where he talked about the difficulties of having such a large ensemble cast and trying to give everyone a decent amount of screen time, so that would equally apply to giving them a decent amount of script to work with. I think that's the problem as much as anything - they're all effectively competing for screen time and we only get to see what is essential to the plot. If you think about it, all we've really seen of Marcheaux so far is him getting to illustrate that he's a cowardly bully who is in with Feron and hates the Musketeers. He's not exactly getting in-depth character development either.

Like I said - 5 episodes to go, and I don't think it's as bad Fluff and Badders do.

I agree that RE and RG in particular are brilliant. Dp even voluntarily said yesterday when I was watching it, "The bloke who plays the king is actually good isnt he".

I dont think the rest of the cast are necessarily bad, I just think the writing isnt doing them any favours at all.

Oh dear. I think we've got too many baddies, four with Gaston, and there are too many extra characters in each episode. New people keep appearing and it all gets rather confusing. I must admit I was looking at the clock, I don't do that if the episode is good. DH said it was shit, although he was in a bad mood because he was missing the Iceland game.

No MoreLike - it's not just you - I like them too. I like that they've developed his character - if he'd still have been tortured/pining over Milady after 4 years it would be getting a bit meh/same old. And I like that Sylvie challenges him and doesn't just roll over.

It's nice to see Athos snogging someone but I hope he dumps Sylvie and ends up with me Milady.

I agree with Apricot - they're concentrating far too much on the new villains and the boys are suffering as a result. There's too much going on and none of the characters are getting enough character development.

Oh I don't mind Sylvie & Athos together either - true there isn't as much chemistry as Athos & Milady, but that was unique, they needed a different type of relationship.

I can't believe I'm the only one who sniggered at 'Sylvie....doesn't just roll over' . Come (nlt) on, not even a titter from the rest of you? Shame on you all.

Re the theme of sexual frustration, do you think that was why Dog was so keen to get Connie a diamond? In the hope she would forget her baby worries and shag him?

And as such Aramis' comeback that "there are other ways to keep a woman content" was deeply unhelpful.... As well as a fabulous line that I had to replay many times, of course.

Oh, and I rudely didn't thank Helen for the lovely pretty picture of Aramis on his horse. Thanks Helen! Very nice indeed.
