About the pauldrons. These are Hayley's preparatory sketches. They're very similar, but the top of Dog's is plain whereas Aramis's has a fleur-de-lys pattern in the shape of a cross.

Now, these are right.

But, these are screencaps from last night. Top is right, bottom is wrong.

Again, top is right, bottom is wrong. Some of the promo pics are wrong too! Hayley wasn't on set for about two weeks and they clearly got in a mess.

Aaaand, I'm spending far too much time on this when the sun is shining and I should have washing on the line.

Oh MLG I loved Athos in S2. His chemistry with Milady was amazing and he looked FAF. I wasn't too sure of his look in S3 from the pics that came out during filming, but I do like the wilder look now. I'm enjoying his storyline too. He's letting himself go after being buttoned up for so long.

I agree with Apes about Athos in S2! OMC! So FAF and he and Milady are meant to be together. I miss her

I have had a strategic and partial rewatch.

Loving Apricot's CSI-Pauldron investigations. Also on the beard status - yes - it suddenly sprouted after they dispatched the deluded fake king, so he had to have a shave on his jog between leaving Dog drowning his sorrows and snogging Sylvie - how thoughtful of him!

I think I enjoyed last night, apart from the previously described interruptions and behaviour from the pissheads.

I did like Sylvie's whole "I've never seen you lot before in my life and specifically didn't snog your face off last week" I thought that routine was quite funny.

Overall I am a bit at Porthos in this series so far - I get that they've been at war for 4 years and things move on in that time never mind the effects of war on people. But I'd have expected him to be a lot more sympathetic to the refugees, what with his background in Court of Miracles.

Now, I need to work. But I feel Apricot needs rewarding for her hard work, so I provide some beards for comparison... (it was an awful hardship finding the right screen shots )

If it weren't for all the fafness and RE and RG acting everyone else off the screen I don't think I'd bother with this series
Luckily the fafness is off the scale thanks Hayley and RE and RG are simply brilliant

Also forgot to say, Madame is right about wigs/hair/make-up. I'm sure Hayley said something about hair being absolutely not her job (presumably other than any hats have to fit over hair/wigs )

Thinking about it (which I shouldn't be because I'm supposed to be working) but the female characters haven't had much to work with really.

Queenie - has to deal with idiot husband, so mostly requires facial expressions of exasperation/annnoyance and mild depression

Connie - has had 4 years dealing with garrison & Red Guards shit without Dog on the scene, so gets to bustle about being bossy busy and in charge (at least she's not in Disney Princess dresses this season)

Sylvie - required to simultaneously make eyes at Athos and bang on about social justice and inequality

Pauline - required (v. briefly) to epitomise the terrified insecurities of being an ex-prostitute trying to move up in the world whilst being nice to the lower classes still (Milady did it better but then she didn't really bother about trying to be a nice person)

I don't think any of them have had that much screen time, so not much chance to act their little socks off. I don't think they're doing a bad job with what they've got though.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Not a happy tav. Badders your summary was spot on and although I should award you a yellow card I really can't as the plot (?) and the script were, as you say, shit. Thank Christ for the FAF or I'd be giving the rest of the series a miss.
No yellow cards for anyone this week wenches, it just wouldn't be fair.

I do wonder if - because the writers knew it was the last series - they are having to rush storylines?
It all feels a bit...disjointed
And the sylvie angle annoys me - I know mamie was pg and not available but I'm annoyed they couldn't think of a better storyline for a love interest
