Anyone watching it? What do you think? Just about to watch episode four on BBC 4 and I'm really enjoying it.

Not at allWink

timelytess · 12/06/2016 16:59

I think Nico gave information (from his scanner-use) to the killer/probably uncle which led to Lea being killed. Who took the photos of Lea which were on Nico's tablet? Was that him, or Chris? I didn't notice the park keeper particularly. Hmm.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/06/2016 17:07

I think Nicolas was supposed to have taken them because when questioned he said they were for her birthday present but didn't mention someone else taking them.

Did anyone see what Nicolas took out of the pocket in the cafe when he broke in?

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 12/06/2016 17:08

Uncle is coming across well dodgy but I think they've done that on purpose to lead us off the real scent..
The parents acting is brilliant, I was crying for them Sad

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/06/2016 17:10

It felt almost intrusive watching them identify their daughter, the acting was amazing!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/06/2016 17:30

The acting is superb. I thought no-one could surpass Jodie Whittaker as a grieving mum but the actress playing Flo is fantastic.

I'm finding Chris a little wooden but perhaps she is supposed to be blank? Confused

CremeEggThief · 12/06/2016 17:34

I also thought last nights' episodes were brilliant and the acting from the parents was amazing and true to life.

I think the killer is either the driving instructor, or Chris and her dad (Jean Morel); Chris killed her and her dad's covering and killed Nico, if it is those two. I was Shock to learn Lea was pregnant, as I also thought Chris wad or is pregnant by Romain. I wonder if Lea even knew that she was, if she was only a few weeks along.

Anyway, in summary, last night's episodes were the best so far of an excellent series and I can't wait for next week's!

Allofaflumble · 12/06/2016 17:43

No-one in the history of film or TV has conveyed the agony of grief as the mum in The Killing, Pernille I think was her name.

I am finding Molina very attractive, especially his rare smiles and attempt at humour.

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 12/06/2016 18:20

Couch She is very wooden, she has no emotions! She hasn't expressed much worry, sadness, laughter.. Always so monotone. But I think you're right, that's probably how she was meant to be portrayed, otherwise the director would have been asking her to be more passionate.. which the French have in buckets!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/06/2016 19:03

My ds can be like that, she seems realistic to me because of that.

CremeEggThief · 12/06/2016 19:21

I think Chris probably shut down emotionally, after losing her mother in the car crash.

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 12/06/2016 20:04

That's true. Probably felt like Lea had everything in comparison to her... A mum, men falling at her feet, confident and bubbly.. She might have both loved and hated her.

GypsyFl0ss · 12/06/2016 20:59

I have a question...

When Julien first went downstairs in Chez Morels with the camera he passed a picture on the wall of a man with a young boy and a girl. I wondered if that was Julien's father with him and his sister as youngsters. Which would make Jean his brother in law and no blood relation of Lea.

I also wondered why the mum asked the little daughter " you like Chris don't you?" . It seemed an odd question to ask of your daughter about her cousin especially since she seemed to be in their house so much.

Just starting the second half now. Amazing acting in the last episode. I found the morgue scene very brutal and challenging to watch.

GypsyFl0ss · 12/06/2016 21:52

Chris at the cemetery to the boyfriend... The two people I love are here. And one of them is not Lea!

GrassW1dow · 12/06/2016 22:05

It's her mum...

...or am I missing something by your comment? That she's including Romain in one of those people? But she did say I was visiting my mum's grave (i.e. when I spotted you)

cookielove · 12/06/2016 22:08

After watching the two episodes I now think it's the driving instructor, I rewound several times on sky. Just too see if I could make out who was behind Romain and it does look like the dI but it is blurred and in cafe so who knows!

Cannot wait for next week's episode now!

schbittery · 12/06/2016 22:35

Jean id definitely his brother

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/06/2016 22:54

cookie I rewound it too but still couldn't see who was in the photo! The problem is the teacher, the driving instructor and Nicolas all have dark hair.

timelytess · 12/06/2016 22:57

The police have been portrayed as far more humane and understanding than police are in UK drama. I wonder if French police are 'nicer' than UK ones.

louisagradgrind · 12/06/2016 22:57

I thought it might be the driving instructor but wondering if it could possibly be her boyfriend's dad.

Grass I just got the feeling she meant Romain and her Mum rather than Romain and Lea. Especially given what happened next.

Louisa I wondered that too?

So who was the very scruffy man at the funeral wake? The camera lingered on him a fair bit.

GypsyFl0ss · 13/06/2016 07:32

Ahhh, I meant her Mum and Lea.

timelytess · 13/06/2016 08:02

Just had a closer look at the photos shown to the jeweller by the police. The man 'in the background' was the one who bought the pendant with Lea, the jeweller said, so anyone in the foreground is in the clear - Julien, Jean, Thomas, Tellier, Romain. The picture of Romain shows two men in the background, one looks like the dad or uncle, so the other, dark hair, magazine...

HalsallRedux · 13/06/2016 08:50

The only other man they've shown as a character (albeit fleetingly) is Romain's father, as louisa mentions. Tall, dark, handsome, older. Not impossible that the impressionable Lea might be involved with him. I immediately thought of him at the end of the last episode, when they were
shamelessly teasing us looking amazed at the DNA results.

But I'm probably wrong Grin

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 13/06/2016 09:15

Thankyou to whoever mentioned 'The Killing', another mystery to watch while waiting for the last installment of this!
