I suppose if they are doing first person perspective then the sounds would fade as the person is dying/dead.
They could have the full audio at the beginning of next season if we see the same scene from the others' perspective. Apparently they were going to play the full audio last night but it was leaked and caused much speculation so they decided to remix without it.
If the story is true it could mean the writers might actually change the endgame for whoever was meant to be dying.

The actor who plays Negan claims he didn't even know there would be a cliffhanger until the episode aired.
There are also rumours wanted to show the death but the studio insisted on the ending they did.

I am so overthinking this. I might rewatch the first season on Sky to remember the good old days when people were marginally nicer than zombies.

ElderlyKoreanLady · 05/04/2016 19:40

Why are people under the impression that Negan doesn't kill women??

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/04/2016 19:43

I was wondering that - i know he's very anti-rape, but dont remember him being nice to women!!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 05/04/2016 19:48

Apparently Negan references not killing women or children in the comics. I don't remember it. I also don't think that they'll stick to it - it means lots of characters are safe and that lessens the drama. It also makes the Governor seem scarier because he'd have killed anyone.

I'm still thinking Sasha.

ElderlyKoreanLady · 05/04/2016 19:57

Not quite...he gave reasons not to kill individuals before he did eeny meeny (racist, sexist, child, etc) but that was just to torment them. Even if he didn't kill Holly himself, he certainly ordered her death. And he was violent towards a female saviour who disobeyed him in the comics too...held an iron on her face. The only thing he does seem to be against is rape...he punished a saviour who he caught about to rape a female prisoner. But even then, his idea of rape is very narrow as he has a harem who have to follow additional rules or face punishment.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 05/04/2016 20:33

I have read several things online that say that Negan doesn't kill women so I always assumed it wouldn't be a female character who dies. We must all be reading the same things! Sounds misleading.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 05/04/2016 20:50

I hope it's Glenn (sorry don't feel the love for him that others do) I like Daryl, Abe and Eugene so hope it's not them.

ElderlyKoreanLady · 05/04/2016 20:53

Yeah, it is a bit. He does speak as if he is against these things but mostly proves himself wrong. I suspect he talks about good talk and can always offer some kind of justification to follow his own agenda. And his agenda is almost completely morally devoid.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 05/04/2016 21:50

Sounds like a politician, Elderly! Thanks for clarifying his stance. I thought the "doesn't kill women" thing seemed wrong but I hadn't got round to getting the comics to check.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 05/04/2016 22:40

Ok, so having now actually finally watched it... that line about having the best? Abe was clearly the strongest there. The way he straightened right up and looked him dead in the eye and Negan noticed this. OR does he mean it the other way- he wants the best, he has said he wants to own them, so does he get rid of who he would deem to be 'not the best?' A weak link?

Argh!

buttermilkpie · 06/04/2016 09:15

Oooh good point, I never thought of it as getting rid of a weak link in order to have "the best" working for him. In which case Glenn could be seen as a weak link because of his outburst about potentially losing Maggie

weeblueberry · 06/04/2016 09:54

I just binge watched the second half of season six and watched the last six episodes in a row last night. Maybe it was doing that rather than watching them individually but by the end I felt so damn tense I had a headache! That whole last scene with Negan was probably the most anxious I've been watching anything on TV. But, I do put it down to watching six hours of it all in a oner.

Coming a bit late to the party but I assumed it would be Abraham too. He's discussing family with Sasha and, logically, most of the lines point to it being him. In terms of him being a 'fan favourite' maybe he has a niche wee set of groupies none of us know about. Grin

Really should pick up the comics again. I stopped reading them at about book 20...

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 06/04/2016 09:57

Glenn could also be the "best" as he tried to protect maggie. Or michonne also didnt flinch when confronted, not just abe. You can probably find a reason for each of them to be "best". Even very ill maggie is a sign of hope for a future

AndYourBirdCanSing · 06/04/2016 10:22

Michonne didn't flinch (she is bloody awesome in general) but I actually thought Abraham was going to stand up at one point - I can't remember what Negan said but he definitely responded to his stance. I totally think Negan would view him as the strongest, but he might not equate that to being the best.

I don't know what's happening with Michonne in the comics but she's my favourite character- I really hope she doesn't die anytime soon. I also must admit that my heart was pounding the whole time. Rick looked utterly broken didn't he.

StealthPolarBear · 06/04/2016 10:38

Yes I love Michone. Prob my favourite character.
Also I disagree with pps who said rick was weak. Not sure what else he could have done?

buttermilkpie · 06/04/2016 11:11

Very true beyond, it's impossible to know exactly how Negan has justified his choice.

Over the past season I've warmed to Abraham and don't want to see him go. Michonne (who I love) seems to have stalled recently since her friendship with Andrea and then the whole mother figure to Carl thing. Yes she's with Rick but apart from the odd shag there's not been much in terms of character development. I hope it isn't her!

I thought Negan looked at Abraham, smiled and said "I need to shave this shit" - touching his own beard? Could be wrong as I struggled to make it out.

SeanPencil · 06/04/2016 12:41

I hope Michone survives, the happy romance with Whispering Rick means she's doubled her facial expression repertoire by learning a new one.

Abraham deserves the bat for the way he dropped Rosita. The woman who went a bit mad and lay in the pit with the zombies is a non character so I wouldn't miss her.

I miss Doctor Denise and Herschel. Although the writing was on the wall for Doctor Denise once she got given a monologue. Grin

StealthPolarBear · 06/04/2016 12:50

Woman who went mad in the pit with the zombies?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 06/04/2016 13:04

Sasha I think?

SeanPencil · 06/04/2016 13:07

That's her!

CauliflowerBalti · 06/04/2016 13:23

StealthPolarBear - he could have behaved like Michonne or Abe or Sacha or even his adolescent son, and maintained a little dignity in defeat. There was nothing he could have done, and that would have torn him up inside, but kneeling all swivel eyed and snotty in front of your future overlord isn't the right tone for a leader.

Penguinepenguins · 06/04/2016 13:28

I don't think it will be Maggie as he can then "help" her get to the doctor, in a "I will punish but also will "look" after those who obey" kind of way.... Plus the impact of killing someone who looks so close to death wouldn't have such an impact.

Won't be Rick, because it's Rick - but was in two minds, would he beat him almost to death so you "break him" or leave him unharmed to cause resentment with the troops

Oh I really don't know it's been bugging me ever since....

I just hope it's not daryl, don't care really too much about the others.

But they do this cliff hanger OMG stuff every season, every season I promise myself I will start watching after the next one starts so I don't spend six months thinking about it only to be bored for the first four scene setting episodes of the next (although the start of this one was epic!)

ElderlyKoreanLady · 06/04/2016 13:41

I think Rick has more on his shoulders than the others, hence the snivelling bare-faced panic. He's the only person in the lineup whose feels responsible for all others there. Plus, the snivelling really is the only move he can make that could do an ounce of good, even if the results aren't immediate. If he'd mimicked Abe or Sasha's defiance then Negan wouldn't believe he'd broken the leader. He may even have chosen to kill another after the first. Of all the people in that lineup it's Rick who absolutely must be seen to react in a way that suggests he'll comply.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 06/04/2016 13:41

We can analyse everything and still bloody get it wrong. Evil producers.

Rick needs a lot of TLC from me

How bloody brave were they though. I know they didn't have much choice but it was utterly chilling when he chose the victim and warned no one to move. It must go against all your survival instincts, even if it would be hopeless
