Every evening i go to watch something and i browse for ages to see if anything looks good. Click on a few things and am turning them off within minutes. I then fall back on tried and tested sitcoms ive watched a million times just to wind down enough to go to sleep. I want to watch something brilliant that i havent seen before. Either film or series.

Things ive watched and loved:
Homeland (the earlier seasons, not so much the later ones)
Breaking bad
Peaky blinders
Daredevil
Anything with tom hardy (apart from locke)
Big bang theory
That 70's show
Only fools and horses
Fawlty towers

Things i havent enjoyed
Locke
Luther
Testament of youth
Silk
How to get away with murder
Fringe
24

(Not exhaustive lists)

I tend not to like sci fi stuff. I started watching orphan black but was underwhelmed. (Had heard great things on MN) i know i am very picky but there must be something i've yet to see and love.

We're vampires! We don't put down towels!!

Snazarooney · 30/03/2016 17:16

I love The Good Wife and OITNB!

tinymeteor · 30/03/2016 17:25

Friday Night Lights. I'm just finishing season 1 and it's so so good

RudeElf · 30/03/2016 17:35

And nick the drunk dick Grin also loved them watching the sunrise on the laptop.

What is friday night lights about?

DH thought the sunrise scene was rather touching.

I was on Netflix earlier and realise the film I recommended upthread is called Aloha, not Hawaii.

iklboo · 30/03/2016 20:39

I can't even eat chips!!!

MrsBertMacklin · 30/03/2016 22:28

I knew I was going to enjoy it from the point an alarm clock was going off beside a coffin.

merrymouse · 30/03/2016 22:33

If you liked 'Big Bang Theory', then 'How I Met Your Mother'.

First series of Scandal is good - after that the characters become too unlikeable.

suzannecaravaggio · 30/03/2016 23:08

What we do in the shadows
I agree that was pretty good, also watched another vampire film that I liked, 2 guys go on a world trip together, one word title...can remember what it was nowConfused

SuckingEggs · 30/03/2016 23:11

Damages

Philoslothy · 30/03/2016 23:16

MrsBungle we are midway through a Dexter binge. It took me a few episodes to get into -because it is wierd - but now I love it. It has not deteriorated through the seasons either - we are just starting season 4. There are loads of episodes too. It is also very funny

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 31/03/2016 00:30

Still Game.

There's about 4 series worth on Netflix at the moment. If you've not seen it before it is a Scottish comedy about two elderly male best friends and their life in a Scottish shite hole housing scheme. If you have seen it before, watch again. Funniest and sometime heartwarming show ever.

tinymeteor · 31/03/2016 14:46

What we do in the shadows is hilarious Grin

Friday Night Lights is set in small town Texas, all about the lives of the high school football team and their coach. Which makes it sound like a teen soap, and it almost is, but it's really classy drama, has brilliant acting and feels authentic (speaking as a snooty Brit who has never set foot in Texas and doesn't know the first thing about American "football"). It's about 10yrs old so you can get all 5 seasons. I hear season 2 is a bit dodgy but the rest is great.

RudeElf · 31/03/2016 14:48

Thanks tiny i will add it to my list.

Suzanne - was the film 'Afflicted'?

suzannecaravaggio · 31/03/2016 18:23

thanks Ikbl yes it was :)

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 31/03/2016 18:26

I watched what we do in the shadows today based on this thread. It's brilliant!

maitaimojito · 31/03/2016 18:32

I still say the best series I've ever seen is Prison Break.

I'm currently watching The Good Wife and enjoying it now but didn't get into it until halfway through season 1.

Making a Murderer also very good.

RomComPhooey · 07/04/2016 20:36

We've just discovered Community on UK Netflix. It's hilarious! And there are 5 seasons. I'm just hoping the quality is sustained. DH and I are pretty fed up with work pressures at the mo & this gives us guaranteed laughs every night, which is keeping us sane & cheerful. Recommended.

Likeaninjanow · 07/04/2016 20:43

We liked the Norwegian comedy 'Dag'. It has subtitles, but you get used to it. It's very funny & also moving in parts. Worth a watch! Was on Sky arts.

Jujuheyhey · 09/04/2016 07:33

More votes for
What We Do in the Shadows
Orange is the New Black
Making a Murderer

I'd also recommend these amazing comedies:
Portlandia
The Trip
Master of None
Jeff, Who Lives at Home
Frank

And also Gossip Girl - utterly brilliant trash Blush

RomComPhooey · 09/04/2016 08:06

I'll ask again if anyone's seen the later series of Community, as we are enjoying the first one so much & are hoping the quality is as high in the remaining four.

esiotrot2015 · 09/04/2016 08:34

I loved unbreakable kimmy Schmidt

Also really enjoyed 90210

ByTheWishingWell · 09/04/2016 08:43

Another vote for Damages and the Good Wife.

I loved House of Cards, it did take a couple of episodes to get used to him addressing the camera though!
