Watched the first episode of this last night and really liked it. Set around a beautiful family-run hotel.
Contemporary scandi-style and old volvos too!

About a mother who gets her three adult estranged children back to the family hotel, then commits suicide having told them to get back together basically.

Anyone else enjoying?

It was a great episode BUT we never got to find out who the blackmailer was did we?

It was all a bit of a mish mash what with Mildred throwing herself into the sea and then the kids taking off.

The bit where Lasse and Oskar hugged in the car brought a tear to my eye. Oh Oskar my Thursdays will seem so empty without you.

Maybe a second series? I'm glad Jonna reported that horrible boyfriend of hers.

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 06:18

The blackmailer was Fredrick, I thought

Allofaflumble · 06/05/2016 08:25

Well done. I didn't twig. He was going to collect the money. Ah now it all becomes clear. Smile

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 09:42

He mentioned the "extra pocket money" for the trip with Kim...

I wonder what will happen about Mildred 's suicide.

Allofaflumble · 06/05/2016 10:53

Yes it is so obvious now you say it. I think there are plenty of storylines for another series. Here's hoping even though I thought it was a bit dull in places. Too used to the Scandi thrillers.

mizu · 06/05/2016 13:34

Just watched the last episode. I loved it, all of it, really enjoyable and great characters.
Will miss it - especially Oskar Grin

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 15:30

Is anyone else finding the crappy English stuff on telly at the moment just has no comparison ?

Yes, I am looking at you, Scott and Bailey.

Ireallydontseewhy · 06/05/2016 18:09

Strangely i thought channel 4 catchup said there were 11 episodes - maybe the first was a double? This definitely seemed like a final episode!

Not pleased lasse got away with arson - cou,d have killed someone, though i suppose to be fair he had called it off but the message didn't get through.

Why did jonna say she hadn't seen mildred? that was very weird and cruel to frederic, although of course frederick did then turn out to be a blackmailer. Kim has not made a wise decision, though getting away from lasse is probably sensible.

Will oskar end up with the vicar?

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 18:12

I just don't get the Oskar/Vicar situation

People said fro early on he was shagging her, but I don't see it. He was confiding in her, that is all.

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 18:14

I thought it was so poignant

Everybody other than the 3 siblings just faded away. Partners, offspring, everyone until there were only those three.

juneau · 06/05/2016 18:14

Jonna is a dark horse - remember how she saw her dad kill Gunnar and then told no one until she told Mildred? Now she's witnessed Mildred commit suicide and she's acting like she saw nothing! And at the end of the episode (which was what - a few hours later?), she's sitting there on the porch laughing and looking like she hasn't a care in the world. I suppose she is supposed to be an actress, but still!

But I'll miss it too. It was rather languid, but I liked it. Moody Oskar and Liv, who always looked sooo innocent. And Kim with her boyfriend down the road. It made me want to visit Sweden in the summertime.

Ireallydontseewhy · 06/05/2016 18:17

I agree, i don't think we know that, but they do seem to get on well, and liv is not happy with oskar, i can tell! She seemed to be saying she was off - ,' we've had a great life together (which by the way is now over)' , was how i read it. Fortunately she seems to have gone off lasse as well.

Whereas the vicar seems quite well disposed towards oskar. However. Do we think df was dead before oskar hacked at him with the spade? If not it shows oskar in a rather different light!

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 18:17

I loved the mood of it. It made me crave summer in foreign lands

Many of the Scandi dramas are very dark (The Bridge, The Killing) and seem to be set in places I would never want to visit

But this was summer and languid and evocative. Very effective.

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 18:18

The father was pushed down the stairs by the mother but he started coming round while Oskar was burying him so he finished the job.

Grim, but effective Smile

Ireallydontseewhy · 06/05/2016 18:22

Ah - then the vicar may be best off steering clear of oskar. Frederic will be back one day....
Was Jonna going to end up with the architect/am drammer, or is she going to dedicate hersellf to serving coffee and cake now?

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 18:42

So many questions...

juneau · 06/05/2016 18:59

And I agree - there's a loada shite on the telly atm. I'm watching the final series of The Good Wife (which is still funny, but has gone on too long), The Tunnel: Sabotage (which is okay, but only because Clemence Poesy is so good), and apart from that its just docs and films. sigh. We need another series of The Legacy. Does anyone else love that series?

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 19:04

I want to see The Legacy !

I can't find it anywhere

juneau · 06/05/2016 19:06

Oh God, its brilliant. I watched it on Sky Arts, which has had series 1 & 2.

Do you have a birthday coming up?

AnyFucker · 06/05/2016 19:10

Have searched Sky and it isn't on there. Might have to resort to Amazon. I'm wurf it ....Have you seen Follow The Money and Blue Eyes ?

juneau · 06/05/2016 20:23

No I haven't - are they good?

conkerpods · 07/05/2016 01:11

I've got Follow the Money and Blue Eyes all recorded. Are they worth watching AnyFucker?
Really enjoyed Thicker than Water, thought the music was good in it and set the scene.
The Legacy was brilliant, lots of believable characters.
Line of Duty has finished so now I'm just watching The Secret, which I am enjoying so far.

Allofaflumble · 07/05/2016 09:02

AF I bought The Legacy. Well worth it.

Allofaflumble · 07/05/2016 09:05

Blue Eyes is fantastic though I fell asleep during last nights episode.

AnyFucker · 07/05/2016 10:32

Yes they are both great but very different to TTW
