Thicker than Water - Scandi family intrigue More4 Thursdays

Watched the first episode of this last night and really liked it. Set around a beautiful family-run hotel.
Contemporary scandi-style and old volvos too!

About a mother who gets her three adult estranged children back to the family hotel, then commits suicide having told them to get back together basically.

Anyone else enjoying?

Allof, I don't know about the 500 kroner bribe either. Couldn't really work out how serious either were.

Also, was there something weird about the film director woman? She seemed a bit stalkerish. And why did she turn down Jonna in the end?

The film director woman was very odd. Coming all that way and staying at the hotel, only to put pressure on Jonne after being so keen on her. Moody old bag.

Looks like everyone's given up on this. I'm still persevering but it is very dreary and claustrophobic. Still don't particularly like any of the characters and I loathe Jonna's boyfriend. So arrogant.

I'm still watching - quite enjoying it! Oskar's wife liv had a lucky escape from lasse all those years ago i think - or is it the lack of love of a good woman that's sent him into his life of low level crime? Would lasse have been an upright citizen if she'd stuck with him?
I've forgotten why jonne didn't get the part now - what did film director say when she left?
I quite like the vicar! But suspect she'll turn oskar in eventually - or make him confess. Though still not sure it was really oskar - may have been the mother?

So do you think the black mailer could be the priest that the female priest confided in? Despite sticking with TTW it has been my least favorite Scandi so far.

It is similar to The Legacy but as good IMO.

I think there was a suggestion at the end of last ep that someone had seen oskar through the window, repeatedly slamming the spade down on mauritz (not quite the same as accidentally tipping him down the stairs as oskar had suggested, although of course mauritz may already have been dead by then and oskar was just Expressing his anger). That would mean it has to be mrs neighbour, doesn't it? She may not have a computer but she could have used an internet cafe, or even her phone!

Though i like the priest idea - maybe it is her (unorthodox) way of persuading him to confess to police!

Does anyone else think the timeline for mrs neighbour to have a teenage son doesn't really work? Mr neighbour drowned over 20 years ago didn't he? Maybe frederic is a young looking early 20s. I wondered whether he was going to drown kim and cecilia when they were out in the boat - didn't like that foggy scene!

Sorry I meant the priest who Oskar has been having sex with confided in another priest about Oskar killing his father. I wondered if it could be him, though unlikely.

Another thing - did you think the pool was unfeasibly small? It was more the size of a pond really.

Glad Jonna's bloke has gone. Can't imagine what she saw in him.

Ah yes - i didn't read properly. Yes, that priest is one other person who knows - so can't rule him out! He was pretty categorical that oskar should confess - but 30k could come in handy. The pool is small, yes - but hotel pools sometimes are, thogh i think it would only fit about 3 people at a time now you mention it.
Can't understand why lasse hasn't been arrested - i suppose there isn't enough evidence. Maybe jonna will be left holding the fort while both brothers are in prison!

Oskar's got a weird bottom lip thing going on and it's all I see when he's on the screen! Lasse has all the right components to be beautiful but he just isn't. Billy on Masterchef has the same thing going on. You can keep them all Smile
Looking forward to the last episode, will they all stay on the island? Will Oskar go mental and turn on Lasse? Will they keep the guesthouse?

Masse makes me think of those wide boy types, leather jacket, curtains sort of hairstyle (loadsifmoney) from the 1980's.

I can picture him roaring around in a souped up Ford Escort!

I love Oskar's jutting jaw and the streaks in his hair.
