Surely not much longer to wait now until the new producer starts? Things must improve, mustn't they?

Hanging on by my fingernails at the minute.

It is a shame that the actress playing Carla is leaving for good

Jo4040 · 07/02/2016 10:20

She is good (the actress that plays Carla) but she's had so many things happen in her life that she's now totally unbelievable

millimat · 07/02/2016 10:59

I agree. Think my favourite character these days is Mary!

PennyHasNoSurname · 07/02/2016 11:10

Mine is Tim.

MissBattleaxe · 07/02/2016 11:17

YY to Tim. He is quietly hilarious.

Mary has some blistering one liners. They could probably lose Erica, Zeedan and Michelle without really leaving a dent.

MissBattleaxe · 07/02/2016 11:19

And the sooner Phelan gets exposed and driven out of town with pitchforks, the better. They dragged it out beyond tedium last time. I can't believe they decided to do the Phelan/Anna torment all over again.

PS That's not a spoiler, it's what I wish would happen and IMO the only satisfying end to his storyline.

millimat · 07/02/2016 14:37

Oh yes, forgot about Tim. He's great.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 07/02/2016 17:16

I like Tim, Roy, Mary and Craig. That's about it really.
Come to think of it, why am I watching Corrie?

AnguaResurgam · 07/02/2016 17:20

I've realised I'm no longer watching every episode.

If there wasn't the prospect of a new team coming soon, I think I'd stop altogether.

I've been watching since the 1970s.

DD had been watching with me of late, but she's stopped completely.

Akire · 07/02/2016 17:21

What's happening with Liz? Does he have no story lines that don't reoving around jumping into bed with new bloke in 5m.

Thought at first was annoying lumping Ken and Audrey together but slowed it down so looks more true to life.

Chipstick10 · 07/02/2016 17:34

I've have been dipping in and out for a long time now. It's crap basically. So many pointless, useless and over used characters. I loathe Sean (can't stand Anthony cotton either). Mary is beyond ridiculous, started out good but the writers have spoilt her. Fizz and Tyrone I have to mute along with anna and sophie . Michelle makes my hackles rise and Tracy is beyond a very bad joke. When Dee died I thought it was a chance for the writers to soften her and make the viewer care about her, but the opportunity was lost. Tim and Sally and Roy and his partner whose name has slipped my mind (Melanie Hill is a cracking actress) are the only characters I can watch. I don't care about illegal immigrant prostitutes or whatever the new character that Eva (Eva another one I cannot stand)stumbled across last week . I am about to give up on it .

laceysue · 08/02/2016 19:24

I loathe Sean too, I really can't stand him and have to mute the tv and look away when he's on. Why is he in so many scenes, his acting is atrocious. Same apples to Fizz, that gurning face. I do find Mary funny and the developing friendship with her off Bad girls is nice. I hate the factory scenes, so unrealistic, how many does it take to run that factory where they all talk more than they sew. I also loathe the awful Simon and dread his appearances. I thought they were getting a new producer, change is needed fast.

Chipstick10 · 08/02/2016 19:35

Ooh yes I forgot about the dreadful Simon. Agree re Anthony cotton, he certainly seems to be a favorite amongst the powers that be up at corrie.

laceysue · 08/02/2016 19:52

I can see this illegal immigrant story is going to grate. It'll probably drag on and on and bore us all to tears. Why does Corrie think it has to cover current events, they never do it realistically and usually get someone with an annoying fake accent.... I forgot about Sophie, another very annoying character. The actress who plays her is another who cant act, and what on earth is she doing in that garage. Just ridiculous.

AnguaResurgam · 08/02/2016 19:59

I've just turned it off.

The 'living in the factory' story definitely grates. The fused lights at the factory just presaged another unwatchable bit of Phelan. And Leanne not knowing how to spectate just put the tin lid on.

(will stay on the thread, though, as the commentary here is better than the programme these days)

New team cannot arrive fast enough.

MadHattersWineParty · 08/02/2016 20:01

God what an awful storyline. Polish nationals are not illegal immigrants anyway! Couldn't they have thought about it a bit more. Oh this is so tedious. I'm hoping the Rovwrs would blow up/catch on fire with them all in it, but I suppose that's already happened enough times over the years.

AnguaResurgam · 08/02/2016 20:07

Quite.

And someone whose family is being threatened if she does not cooperate doesn't get to live in some random place like a factory where she doesn't work. Every movement is controlled.

It's all bollocks.

Tedious bollocks.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/02/2016 20:14

Please lock Simon Barlow up for life.

scarlets · 08/02/2016 20:15

The Phelan reboot is beyond tedious (no reflection on the actor) and the Polish slave storyline is going to drag and drag. Sophie's clipboard is driving me nuts. Why is Jenny cleaning the factory in the middle of the day?

Being back Sylvia. Loved her and Roy.

MadHattersWineParty · 08/02/2016 20:15

And working off her 'debt' of a ticket over here? Give over. It's 2016. Polish nationals can hop on a cheap Ryanair flight, come and go as they please and are perfectly entitled to work here the same as other EU nationals.... And if they were going to hurt her family surely they'd have done it now since she's absconded to live in the back room of the local sewibg factory and live on cheese sandwiches out of people's lockers. I'm pretty sure Manchester would have a good support network for Polish immigrants. It's hardly a new concept.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/02/2016 20:21

Watching now and the combination of Simon and the utterly ridiculous "plot" about the Polish immigrant in the factory is tipping me over the edge.

Oh God, now Sean is on.

Agree Mad - the ticket from Poland is probably £30 return. And Polish people can come and go as the please.

They really don't care what we think, do they?

I'm taking a break from Corrie for the next while.
Forgive me for sharing a 'spoiler'... Simon goes to live with Peter ( hope it's permanent this time)!

AnguaResurgam · 08/02/2016 20:38

The last Polish national in the factory met an untimely end there.

Hope this story meets as swift and decisive a demise.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/02/2016 20:51

Thank goodness for that Rachel.

Angua - I hope this one takes a busload with her.

OP posts:
laceysue · 08/02/2016 20:54

I thought I'd give Simon another chance tonight because I hadn't seen him for a while....he's gone worse, the way he over emphasises his words and the way he contorts his face in anger. Go to Peter please.
Those scenes in the factory with the Polish girl running out and knocking Issy over....cringe making.
