Surely not much longer to wait now until the new producer starts? Things must improve, mustn't they?

Hanging on by my fingernails at the minute.

Ooo yes, there's no childminder now. After this story line with everyone hating jenny hads blown over, I'm guessing she will get the title Grin

MissBattleaxe · 04/02/2016 11:48

If Ruby and Hope are both full time at childminders, there's probably no point in Fizz working at all.

It really bugs me that writers in soaps cannot handle the existence of children. They wheel out shock pregnancies and dramatic births but they don't reflect life as a parent accurately. All soap parents seem to return to work the following week as if nothing happened.

I know that if soaps reflected the true minutiae of life they would be a bit dull, but it leaves gaping hole in my credulity when children disappear and are not even mentioned. The only ones who are dealt with well are Dev's twins.

MadHattersWineParty · 04/02/2016 13:42

Sarah popped up again yesterday to jump on the Jenny-bashing bandwagon. No further mention of her pregnancy. Doesn't anyone want to know where it's going to live??!! In a drawer at Nick's?!

Jo4040 · 04/02/2016 14:03

Oh yh, forgot she was pregnant!

Rachel0Greep · 04/02/2016 14:54

Corrie definitely shouldn't add in any more babies or children. Especially with Emily away Grin.

Emmerdale has excellent child actors and actresses, in my opinion, and babies are quite realistically part of storylines.
Plus the children going to school / staying with friends overnight, or whatever is generally well portrayed.

ajandjjmum · 04/02/2016 17:30

Maybe Jenny could take Emily's place as the street childminder. She could open a creche in Tracey's shop when it goes bust (next week). Grin

After all, she's now a reformed character.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/02/2016 18:22

Small - this picture will haunt you forever.

Fizz should train to become a childminder. Eliminate her own childcare costs and earn a living in one fell swoop. She'd have to child proof her higgledly-piggledly house though!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 04/02/2016 20:16

Anne Grin

MissBattleaxe · 04/02/2016 21:20

Eastie77- that's far too sensible and logical! It'll never happen!

hildasmuriel · 04/02/2016 22:49

That episode with Deirdre and Dev was just so good. I can still remember Deirdre shuddering with excitement going 'ooooooh Dev'. It was hilarious. Deirdre had fancied Dev for ages. Dev hasn't had 11 wives though but he did have a fancy woman in each shop and Amber was one of his offspring. I think the shop affairs was the reason he split up with Sunita.

Woodhill · 04/02/2016 22:57

If the items are in lockers, how can anyone steal them anyway?

CandOdad · 04/02/2016 23:23

Depressing. So the inference here is:

People that declare they are skint will be suspected of theft should it happen
Because Fiz is skint but gets food on the table Tyrone will ask her if she did it
Let's reinforce the stereotype that poor working folk must thieve/be assumed as thieves
At the point of (or just after Fiz being let go from the factory) then Maureen from packing (a never before seen chapter) will be caught and all will be fine again
Lastly if it was Fiz then it will all be down to depression/stress/fear of losing little ope so everyone will forgive and will all be friends by Easter. (Maybe with a morale boosting internet only mini-episode)

thenightsky · 05/02/2016 21:11

Ooooh.. so Jenny is NOT a reformed character after all!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/02/2016 07:21

I like evil Jenny . Hopefully there will be more with her and Sawphie .

AnguaResurgam · 06/02/2016 08:13

Oh I hope not.

Or at least not whilst it's being so badly written. She's back, convinces (most) people she's better and safe, and then, within a couple of days there's this incident with Jack. Too soon, too superficial. A few seconds of Kev looking worried in the back alley is not a substitute for actual tension.

One of the things I really hope the new team will do is to slow down, cut out the the splashiness, and use a more suitable tempo to give characters and storylines some depth.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/02/2016 08:34

Yes you're right , the pace is all wrong . Emmerdale has it just right .

Jo4040 · 06/02/2016 08:52

Nooo pkwae not more of Sophie. She just bugs me. The actress that plays her just can't act and her chsrachter is boring and confrontational. Who is her actual friend? Her mum? Dad? Tim? Rita?

eddiemairswife · 06/02/2016 15:34

I saw Aliya made an appearance on Friday. Shouldn't she be in the office with the rest of the management team?

Akire · 06/02/2016 16:26

I saw Aaliyah back too boring! Did she get ditched from the office because of Carla x2 conners. So no need for her really.

Why is the new cleaners job full time there in morning at lunch and after hours. Surely once you given kitchen loos and floors brush what exactly is she doing for 8-10h a day??

Agree with Sophie there's younger bunch at restaurant she could occasionally see. She never goes to church even or just seem anyone from very depressing. She could even go to the gym and talk to people!

Why is Beth moaning she's broke again. There 4 adults working full time in the house and no one has any money except for pub cafe

Rachel0Greep · 06/02/2016 19:17

One of the things I really hope the new team will do is to slow down, cut out the the splashiness, and use a more suitable tempo to give characters and storylines some depth.

Completely agree. I find it so annoying, the way stories are half done, and are, in the process becoming more ridiculous.
Some characters are overused, while others are sidelined. Todd, just as one example, played a key role, in the 'old days'. The episode where he goes to the graveyard, where his and Sarah's baby is being buried, is just so well done, and so credible. Now, he has become a mere sidekick to the very much overused Tracy.

Also agree re Sophie. She irritates me more, and more, every time I see her. I made that exact point on another forum I am on. She has no life, outside of hanging around with her parents / Rita... Jeez, I wasn't exactly wild ( to say the least Wink), when I was twenty one, but compared to her, I was a mad thing!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 07/02/2016 01:10

I think Todd is about right as I can only take so much but he does play a key part when required.

Sophie though, could she not have gone to Peru.

I am liking the Mary/ Erica developments.

Rachel0Greep · 07/02/2016 01:14

Just using Todd, as an example, really. Granted he did undergo a personality transplant since the 'old days'. Another of the very, very irritating things about Corrie as it is now.
I still feel that he deserves better than being a sidekick to the godawful Tracy.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 07/02/2016 01:24

A but Tracy can akways be relied upon.she NEVER changes. Nor does Sally. T is an awful cow but it was ever thus and I quite enjoy her friendship with Todd.

Rachel0Greep · 07/02/2016 07:48

Looking forward to new producer taking over, hopefully she will cut back on one-dimensional cast members, make better use of the actual talented ones, and chop out shallow storylines...i.e most of the current ones.

Am taking a break from Corrie until she starts working there, I think she is starting around April.
