Coerced sex is rape. He coerced her.

The crime of rape refers to non-consensual sexual intercourse that is committed by physical force, threat of injury, or other duress; ie consent only given under duress is not valid consent.

Anna was definitely acting under duress.

He won't be prosecuted unless she goes to the police. But the viewer saw what happened, and there can be no doubt she was not giving valid consent because of the threats he had made. So yes, rape.

No, she hasn't told Kevin the truth yet, because she feels deeply ashamed that she "prostituted" herself. :(

Just have to say Michael's squeaky, chest clutching heart episode at the top of the builder's stairs was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. The crutch waving incident was the icing on the cake. Les Dennis looks terribly unhealthy though.

So that was Derek Griffith's as Freddie. I thought he'd been cast as Luke and Steph's dad or maybe I imagined that. Apparently he strikes up a friendship with Kylie. That could either be very touching or a bit hmmmm.

Oh love Derek Griffiths that's fab. Les Dennis was on daytime TV the other day and he did look really unwell. I thought it was make up for CS but no.

The level of threat required is not limited to threats to kill. It would be a great shame if Corrie reinforced rape myths.

If they don't resolve the storyline soon everyone will have forgotten what happened anyway.

I thought he also said he would prosecute Gary for hitting him, and based on Gary's previous record and trauma from being in the army, Anna thought prison would kill him?

And they broke into his house and he had CCTV to prove it, so that could have been Owen in prison as well?

He also made them lose their house. Owen borrowed the money against the house for a business development with Phelan and then Phelan kept the money and they lost the house.

Anna did not consent or go into sex with him willingly. It was do it or her family and their lives would be ruined. He told her if she slept with him, he would call off the dogs and let them be. He is completely evil and yes, I would call that rape. It was coercion and blackmail and very disturbing to see how much distressed Anna was by it all. I don't know how anyone can be a Phelan fan after he did that to a woman.

As far as I remember, Owen lost his investment and Phelan was making them work for free under threat of prosecuting Gary for assault. Then he blackmailed Anna by saying he'd let them stop working for him if she slept with him. Which he did, but they still owed the £80k which Owen had lost (I think he remortgaged the house) and when they couldn't pay that they lost the house.

Owen borrowed the £80k against the house to go into business with Phelan. Phelan kept the money, as I recall. Owen couldn't push him about it or he would go to the police about Gary.

Phelan's a nasty piece of work and I don't get the love for him at all. The actor is doing a good job though.

And people who have known one another for years, throw all common sense out the window, and believe the word of someone they really don't know at all. Aaaargh.

Phelan is awful. He gives good villain though, especially for someone who looks like a bald Tweety Pie.

Is les Dennis and his fake son leaving ? I ask as I see they're in a (rubbish looking) play in Liverpool soon ? Perhaps les has a break and the son just doesn't get mentioned as he's so boring anyway ?

Don't even know why I'm asking really, rarely watch corrie these days it's dreadful. If I put it on it never captures my attention.

Yes they both have time off to star in the play. LD has signed with Corrie for another year after. Don't know about fake son.

I quite like how Les Dennis and Gandy have adopted each other though. It's quite nice.

And I did like how Sarah asked Les Dennis if Gandy was an awful teenager and he said he didn't know because he wasn't there, and Bethany pointed out that Gandy hadn't been there either.

I hate Eileen. Such a bleddy sourpuss.

But Eileen is the siren of Coronation Street.

Missed a few episodes. Is that Derek Griffiths off Play Away? Nooo!!
