Thanks Battleaxe. Stacey is a great actress.

Akire · 22/01/2016 16:09

Had presumed was linked because it's how we have seen her before. So would make sense to link. Would have been a clearer post natal psychosis story line if gave it to someone who had previous been well like Kim or Linda if we're going for the can happen to anyone/awareness angle?

The way this story line is going may get diagnosed in few months

MagpieCursedTea · 22/01/2016 16:13

Women with bipolar disorder are more susceptible to post partum psychosis (I think it's something like 1 in 4 women who have bipolar will experience it). I think they're being fairly accurate apart from the lack of medical intervention. I was warned when I was pregnant about the chances of having a psychotic episode, there was a plan in place and I was carefully monitored. When I started showing symptoms I was treated very quickly.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 22/01/2016 16:18

They have certainly research psychosis, the cleaning "dirty" things was especially accurate.

gingercat02 · 22/01/2016 16:19

Lacey has been brilliant in this part she seems to do the MH stuff really well. Pity they make her such an annoying character when her bi polar is well managed.
Poor Charlie's funeral was a bit pointless I'm sure Kat could have got the info on where Luke was over the phone from B'linda
Ben and Abbie renting a flat is hilarious, they both have fairly low paid jobs and surely Ben will be unemployed now as well as homeless. They can move into Ian's house tardis once Bobby goes to boarding school young offenders centre

MagpieCursedTea · 22/01/2016 16:22

They worked with action on post partum psychosis and bipolar uk when putting together the storyline. It's been very well researched, I think on the whole they're doing a great job. Like a previous poster said though, I hope they don't have Kush and Shabs using it against Stacey in a custody storyline.

notquitehuman · 22/01/2016 16:27

I reckon Jay's big storyline this year will see him become one of the square's gangster types. I reckon it'll be something to do with the guys who killed his dad.

I love how when people move into a flat or house it's always right in the middle of the square. They must have a Rightmove alert set up for properties no more than 10 metres away from where they were born!

Assuming that Walford is right on the E London/Essex border (Ilford is sometimes known as E19, so it must be in that area), Ben and Abi will struggle to find anything under a grand a month. And that'd be tiny flat/studio places, not the nice converted terraced houses you usually see on the show.

Youarentkiddingme · 22/01/2016 17:52

I missed the Christian/not Christian bit. When and what happened? Was this after Ben went to find Abi who'd stroppy off to house hunt?

celeste83 · 22/01/2016 19:04

In that case notqutehuman only a handfull of the characters could realistically afford the local rents seeing as hardly any of them seem to do any jobs.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/01/2016 19:09

wasnt Christian but a gay man cruising

It amazes how market stallholders can afford to live there. Selling the same dresses to local passers by and making enough to live in east London and go to the pub all the time. And apparently pay for full time childcare since their babies and children are never with them.

bialystockandbloom · 22/01/2016 19:14

What was the point of that random Christian lookalike? Just to show us how much Paul reeeeeeally loves Ben? I'm getting bored of Paul now. For a hair "stylist" he's got the rankest wet-look hair

I reckon Jay's story will involve getting together with Louise - extra camera moment given to her eyeing him up in the market the other day. Shame about what happened to Abi, I loved her & Jay together at the beginning, before she turned into a middle aged harridan.

Youarentkiddingme · 22/01/2016 20:16

This is hard to watch tonight. Sad I'm glad they are showing the realism of the situation though and not a pretend version of M and B psychiatric beds everywhere whenever you want one.

Flowers to every single mum on here who had suffered PPP or PND. I'm so sorry you've had ro experience such fear and desolation.

seasidesally · 22/01/2016 20:21

very sad seeing Stacey in such distress

actually felt sorry for Martin

Arthur the baby is so gorgeous

NuggetofPurestGreen · 22/01/2016 20:26

I find it distressing also. My cousin took her own life a few years ago, and she had bi-polar. Hate to think she may have suffered like Stacey.

wideboy26 · 22/01/2016 20:27

Agreeing with the comment about baby Arthur. Absolutely gorgeous! We have 4 sons, all grown up and flown the nest now, but baby Arthur brings it all back. Sigh...

mrsmugoo · 22/01/2016 20:31

Excellent episode tonight - tears were shed here!

gingercat02 · 22/01/2016 20:32

Terribly sad for Stacey but yes to pp that they didn't just magic up space in m&b unit. I really hope they aren't lining Kush up to go for custody but it looks like they might be

Youarentkiddingme · 22/01/2016 20:33

Whitney Shock what are you doing?

Martin was fantastic tonight - I'm glad to see this guy can really act. And Kush Sad

It's all such a mess and I hope it's ended fully and completely rather than a massive drama that suddenly gets resolved and fogotton and baby Aurther is shut in the kiddy cupboard!

luchadragon · 22/01/2016 20:38

That is so sad nugget Flowers

It is really difficult to watch, Stacey is playing the part really well though. I would be amazed if she didn't win an award.

celeste83 · 22/01/2016 20:39

Excellent episode indeed. It was so sad when Martin took Arthur off Stacey and also when Kush was looking at Arthur saying Martin is his Dad. I hope Satcey doesn't lose both children now. I also hope Martin is put out of his misery sooner than later. Its difficult to watch him being so great knowing he isn't the father.

gingercat02 · 22/01/2016 20:41

Well fuck me! Ryan wouldn't say no
Can you tell I hadn't watched the whole episode Grin

buddhasbelly · 22/01/2016 20:44

I found tonight's difficult but in a way cathartic to watch. It brought back many painful memories of pleading to get into a mother and baby unit (I had posted a lot on here at the time and many posters were questioning why I couldn't get into a unit - I was told by my hospital the nearest one was 200 miles away and full). I'm glad that they didn't just magic up space and are keeping this as close to real life as possible. Flowers to all those that need them after tonight

buddhasbelly · 22/01/2016 20:45

oh and on a much happier note dd (almost 2) upstairs asleep and I'm cosied up with hot choc!

seasidesally · 22/01/2016 20:50

Lacey must be exhausted by the acting, she plays it really well
