Georgia, 24, "I wish she'd stop acting like a little girl, it's so annoying, can't warm to her"
Jay, 25, little boy lost, "awww he's so adorable, I just want to mother him". Added to that all the "bless" "cute" "adorable" comments from Tess and Claudia. If jay was a 25 year old behaving like that I don't think people would be so "awwww" about it.

SheHasAWildHeart · 19/12/2015 12:41

And I wonder if you took the jive away, one good dancer should not make a winner.

My d has announced she'll watch it with me to keep me company (aged mother pity) & mainly for the dresses & "Oh we must buy snacks". So really mainly for the snacks.

She can come to the supermarket with me then & later finish decorating the tree & make herself useful Wink

Envy of people watching with their DDs. I watched the first few series with mine, but they're both grown up and living miles away now.

I was musing last night on my stand-out dances of the series, the ones I think I'll remember in years to come, which isn't necessarily the same as the best ones. Jay's jive is up there, and also Helen's quickstep (still gutted she went out so early). But I'm afraid the one I think I'm most likely to recall in 10 years' time is Peter and Janette's paso to Pirates of the Caribbean Blush. They weren't my favourite couple but I love that paso, full of drama and musicality and drive. And of course costumes! I've a feeling I might also remember K&K's Viennese waltz, simply because of the way they both seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. I can't watch it without a huge grin.

I don't think Georgia acts like a little girl either. I find the comments suggesting she does a bit odd.

SoupDragon · 19/12/2015 15:00

They aren't odd, they are just a different opinion to you.

Fiderer · 19/12/2015 15:12

Me neither Maryz & my d has just got a last minute invitation to watch Star Wars with a friend. Amazing how she got herself ready in milliseconds compared to a school morning.

Anyway, back in SCD, I don't get the girl thing about Georgia either.

Was watching Jay's dances again & he does lack, imo, a certain fluidity around the hips. That jive though, was really something.

Have been pondering the showdances - think K&K's is going to be very 'in your face' and OTT which doesnt float my boat at all. G&G's will probably be very good but I hate Coldplay! K&A 'S may be ok but Katie annoys me so I won't like it on principle Grin. I think Jay's will be technically great but understated and laidback so not necessarily an audience pleaser.

Am so excited!! My 2 DS's love it as well so we are having a proper family evening watching it Smile

MrsJamin · 19/12/2015 16:28

Ah I wish I could watch it tonight! Am going to read the whole thread when I watch it tomorrow morning!

GlitteryRollers · 19/12/2015 16:29

They are odd SoupDragon. Its a bit sexist/misogynstic, especially when you throw in the apparent acceptance of Jay being young for his age (I don't think he is either).

SoupDragon · 19/12/2015 16:31

"Ooooh, I just love being a princess like Belle! I'm going to take G to a princess party!"

Hmm

fwiw, Jay irritates me with his puppy expression too.

SoupDragon · 19/12/2015 16:34

My finding Georgia's behaviour* too "little girl" isn't mysoginistic or sexist.

  • as portrayed by the editing.
GlitteryRollers · 19/12/2015 16:38

Those silly VT's are set up by the production team.

They haven't actually been as bad this year though.

Theydontknowweknowtheyknow · 19/12/2015 16:44

It's obvious Jake is going to win as he's the only one that has never been in the dance off.

However, he's never re-reached the heights of the Jive and he has had the advantage of 8 years of dance school. But he brings out my maternal side so I will be voting for him.

GlitteryRollers · 19/12/2015 16:47

I think we be losing a few of the pros after this series. We know Ola is going, Kristina is rumoured to be as well. I can't see Aliona coming back if she wins tonight, going out on a high as the only pro to win twice and I suspect Anton maybe hanging up his dancing shoes though he'll still be involved with Strictly in other ways (just not as a judge, please).

I have my suspicions about Brendan as well, I always wonder if each year will be his last.

user7755 · 19/12/2015 16:51

It's the baby girl voice, and irritating giddy bounciness which makes Georgia come across like a 7 year old girl. She's technically probably quite good, but very vanilla.

Kellie's dances are often very good but personally I think they are more suited to a theatre stage than a dance floor. The Oliver one could have been lifted from the stage show, very little actual dancing but lots of acting.

Jay comes across as a very grounded young man to me. I think what makes him so appealing is that he comes across as quite blundering / blokey when he isn't dancing but as soon as he starts dancing he is transformed. The jive was brilliant but the Charlston was fantastic in my opinion.

Katie has done well but I find her gurning a bit off putting.

MrsJamin · 19/12/2015 17:09

I just can't imagine anyone winning but Jay. It's a one horse race really. I think that Katie will go first, followed by Georgia and kellie will be runner up.

AmysTiara · 19/12/2015 17:10

Im hoping for a Jay or Georgia win. I did love Anita and would have loved her to have made the final.

Katie isn'tgood enough to win and I just cannot take to Kellie, or Kevin for that matter.

GlitteryRollers · 19/12/2015 17:25

I think Kevin has calmed down. His choreography is a lot less frenetic this year. I wonder if he's foreveer destined to be the bridesmaid and never the bride of the Strictly final?

Redcrayons · 19/12/2015 17:26

Gutted I can't watch tonight. Should be back home for 12, so might try and watch before I go to bed so I can be spoiler free. DCs will def telle in the morning.

ChoccyJules · 19/12/2015 17:32

DD(7) is going to be sad when we tell her the actual result is on too late to stay up...we'd let her but she wouldn't cope and she's in two concerts tomorrow. She's going to demand no-one else watches it either and we're all going to have to nod solemnly then keep schtum and watch it again with her tomorrow!

GlitteryRollers · 19/12/2015 17:32

There is good news everyone.

Gleb is going to take his shirt off tonight.

I was almost bereft at the thought of not seeing his chest again this week Blush
