Ah, Mormons. Thanks, makes sense.

Only1scoop · 10/12/2015 21:49

Ah I thought I heard that.

Hhmmmm

Girlfriend36 · 10/12/2015 21:53

So their eldest was sent away at 18-19yo and the family were only allowed to speak to her twice in 18 months? Shock think its telling that she has been home 5 mins and is looking to move out and take her sister with her!!

Nicknamegrief · 10/12/2015 21:54

The Radfords aren't Mormons, the other family the Hanns are. Although contraceptives aren't forbidden when your a Mormon.

ImperialBlether · 10/12/2015 21:55

I didn't understand that about the eldest (Polly?) - why could she only call twice? You can get really cheap deals both here and in the US.

seasidesally · 10/12/2015 21:56

oh bugger i wanted her to have her independence

  • you are.
She served a mission for the Mormon (LDS) church. It is voluntary and while on it you generally only speak to your family twice a year, although you can email/write letters etc weekly. It's meant to reduce homesickness and enable you to concentrate on the mission. Kind of like when you start boarding school.

I wonder if they get given branded goods so they are shown on to?

Aeroflotgirl · 10/12/2015 22:09

It's just not right, it's not fair on their existing children. My goodness 3 on a bunk Shock, looks like prison beds. It seems that once the babies grow up, they have another.

BlueBananas · 10/12/2015 22:14

Sue really reminds me of my MIL, all her mannerisms and the way she speaks; she too has another once her baby isn't a baby anymore, is very socially awkward and tbh in my unprofessional opinion I think she possibly has autism or ADHD or a combination of both
I think Sue shows some traits too

Baconyum · 10/12/2015 22:16

"We're happy our children are happy" not sure that's true tbh. No privacy, no peace, no one-on-one from parents, must be a nightmare to study...

Also I find it a bit much they're all going to the grave every week? Especially if they're not getting a choice. Everyone including children grieve differently and this isn't necessarily the best thing for all of them I don't think.

gutzgutz · 10/12/2015 22:17

For me, it's the lack of one on one time with the children. I don't think it's fair on them although they do seem happy enough. I know I enjoy time with each of my two alone (I hope they do too). Also I think her (sue radford's) body is telling her to stop. I just hope she listens to the warning signs despite what the doctors tell her

Aeroflotgirl · 10/12/2015 22:18

I know, both Sue and her husband don't seem really with it! The Hanns seem quite sensible. Yes, this going the the grave every week business, do the kids have a choice, especially the older/adult kids.

Only1scoop · 10/12/2015 22:18

How do they fill in all those reading journals and homework books....

I find one enough personally Grin

Can just about cope with dd

Aeroflotgirl · 10/12/2015 22:19

The Radfords may be happy, but are their children!
