REf. Kelly looking lined, maybe she's spent more time in the sun or smoked at some time or other.

Well do we believe Len? I do think it was brave of Strictly to actually answer the critics, I'm still not sure though Grin.

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 26/11/2015 08:22

I can maybe believe that the PTB didn't have a word before hand with the judges, but there is no way that, after watching both dances a second time, the judges all independently came to the decision to keep Peter in based purely on the dance off 'rules'.
Even just watching the small clip of the jive on ITT last night, again emphasised how bad it was!

kinkytoes · 26/11/2015 08:23

What exactly did Len say?

digerd · 26/11/2015 08:30

Me neitherHmm.
He U-turned and said they and he did judge on the night's DO performances and that PA had improved and there had only been 2 points in the leaderboard anyway and it was all subjective- after him previously showing Jamelia's perfect jete etc in her quickstep and praising her performance.

It was a fob-off by Len but at least he was brave enough to face the music.

They must have had so many complaints from the viewers to have done this.Shock

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 26/11/2015 08:33

Only 2 points in it on the Saturday show. Peter improved enough in DO to get through. No way are producers saying anything to sway judges and scoring is all about taste...

Oh, he did say that from now on the judges will all giving a reason for why choose who they do in DO rather than just saying a name.

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 26/11/2015 08:33

*give

emotionsecho · 26/11/2015 09:26

The point that was missed is that PA's jive was over marked in the first place, how could it be worth an 8 when other far better dances were only worth a 9. I'm still not convinced, the way they spoke to Jamelia before the DO translated to "Never mind dear, just go out and enjoy your last dance."

I note it's still in the papers today, saw a clip of it on the front page of the Express so I'm not sure that the BBC firefighting is working.

GruntledOne · 26/11/2015 09:37

I can't see that judges having to give reasons will really help, we'll just get one-liners about "X really improved in the dance-off". Though it would be quite fun if Darcey had said "Oh, what the hell, I'm not going to lie, I'm saving NPP because the producers told me to."

Didn't Len give NPP the same score as Jamelia originally? So we have him thinking Jamelia was better whilst apparently Craig and Darcey took leave of their senses and decided she was worse. How can he support that?

MovemberSucks · 26/11/2015 10:00

Maybe he did improve in the dance off (I didn't think so) but he didn't increase the jive content. There really wasn't enough jive in there to be called a jive, whereas Jamelia actually did a quickstep with tons of content. Admittedly Jamelia's wasn't a particularly great quickstep and she would have gone out against anyone except Orange Pete, and tbh I have been wanting her to go since the beginning for a few weeks, but rules are rules, they should have picked the best dance-off dance and not been influenced by previous dances.

The BBC spend hours educating us about what the dances actually are, they have loads of demos from Karen, Ian and others on ITT. So now that we know what a jive should be (sharp flicks and kicks, pump action with the knees, on the toes) we are able to recognise that Orange Pete wasn't doing it right, what little he did.

Orange Pete's might have been a bit more entertaining, but the judges are always saying that they have to judge on content and technique so it's very out of character for them to suddenly discount quality in favour of brashness.

emotionsecho · 26/11/2015 10:07

PA even admitted on ITT that his second attempt at the Jive was no better than his first attempt (in a roundabout way).

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2015 10:11

One point made by Len was that all the judges judge from their own areas of expertise, and that they are all different Hmm.

I thought that SPA (stompy PA) Did improve a bit in the DO, he was trying really hard NOT to be stumpy, but still not a jive as you say Movember

digerd · 26/11/2015 10:39

Pete on This morning today.

digerd · 26/11/2015 11:51

PA does try really hard, but his Jive was very heavy laden and laboured.

Think his AS foxtrot will be much better this Saturday if he can get his hands and fingers elegant and gracefulHmm.

I am like Len in as much as I want a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers style.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/11/2015 12:02

Well, the choreography isn't really his fault... But then she could have made it more challenging if he was better at it, so it's difficult to know who to blame Grin

Fiderer · 26/11/2015 12:23

Saw Len was on ITT but my d was wittering on about something dull. Probably school or something I should have paid attention to so I missed what he said.

Just waffly guff? Still, says something that they had to send him.

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2015 12:43

digerd I don't think PA has the INTELLIGENCE to dance a good AT actually, it's a problematic dance if you don't fancy your partner IMO Grin. I get negative vibes about him, understandably, from Janette. Grin

Tensmumym · 26/11/2015 14:33

Grin ppeatfruit Let's hope so.

Ughnotagain That I See You piece on "he who must not be mentioned" was a dark masterpiece.

Howaboutthisone · 26/11/2015 18:41

Thanks for that link panda!

SheHasAWildHeart · 26/11/2015 23:22

I think I'm going to have to change hairdressers.
I went today and every magazine they offered me had NPP on the cover :(

MovemberSucks · 26/11/2015 23:26

Did you draw spots and a curly moustache onto his face SheHasAWildHeart?

digerd · 27/11/2015 08:18

Looking forward to tonight's IT2 from 6-7pm - a whole hour of hopefully interesting entertainment.

KurriKurri · 27/11/2015 10:38

I think Aled Jones is doing the backstage interviewing type stuff this week. I still haven't got over Aled being eliminated years ago - he woz definitely robbed Grin

Secondtimeround75 · 27/11/2015 11:22

I think there should be a dead lock scenario brought .It would be better to revert to the public vote when tricky calls need to be made.
Or
3 times in the dance off and your out.
Saving jamelia again when the public clearly dislike her would have annoyed voters too.

ppeatfruit · 27/11/2015 11:38

I reckon that the hour on friday format is a bit too long digerd , thinking about the padding that was in last weeks' Grin

SoupDragon · 27/11/2015 11:48

It would be better to revert to the public vote when tricky calls need to be made.

Might as well scrap the dancing and make it into a popularity competition then.
