I had a look on YouTube and found the Paso Gleb did on the Russian version of Strictly with his partner that was an ice dancer or figure skater - that was dramatic.

I agree that Gleb's choreography is excellent, slightly different, and as Annaroses friend noted he is very easy on the eye. Artem had a similar attitude to choreography, it makes it more interesting.

LIZS · 25/11/2015 18:33

Len's on the ITT sofa now to justify it!

MrsJamin · 25/11/2015 18:34

I just came on to say the same thing! What's he going to say?!

SoupDragon · 25/11/2015 18:37

He sounds very convincing.

MrsJamin · 25/11/2015 18:39

yeah he does. I do think Len has integrity.

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2015 18:41

Well that all made sense to me sort of.

MrsJamin · 25/11/2015 18:41

I'm not convinced about the standing ovation justification though!

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2015 18:42

Ooh in other news Bindi Irwin has won DWTS. Smile

MrsJamin · 25/11/2015 18:43

I hate this ITT filler stuff when there are fewer people in the competition. This doesn't even have anything to do with dance! (3 female pros doing come dine with me). I liked the do x many steps in a minute to get a world record instead.

Dolly80 · 25/11/2015 18:47

MrsJamin I'm totally unconvinced by the standing ovation explanation too

MrsJamin · 25/11/2015 18:48

This is the standing ovation stuff from the production team: LINK

digerd · 25/11/2015 19:15

Poor Len in the hot seat. I squirmed for him but then became irritated as he waffled on a bit too much with his Uturn. But was as expected.
Zoe coped very well I thought.

PA's footwork with his foxtrot/smooth had a good rise through onto the balls of his feet .
Katie's AT needs work - hope it is not Anton's fault for teaching her to make long strides when Ian said AT needs short steps.

CocoPlum · 25/11/2015 20:11

MrsJamin · 25/11/2015 22:12

Sparklingbrook, I just watched Bindi Irwin, oh golly, I need a tissue! My goodness she's a great dancer.

GruntledOne · 25/11/2015 22:15

I don't buy the explanation that they recorded an extra standing ovation just at the point in the show after NPP's dance purely because that is what they always do. Having been to two or three recordings of other shows, I can confirm that it is indeed normal practice to take some filler shots of the audience laughing at different levels, clapping, cheering or whatever. But the point is that that happens before the show.

As I understand it, they make the Strictly audience turn up very early, and they also obviously have time to fill in when they're waiting for the votes to come in and be counted, so they've got plenty of time to record those shots. I find it very difficult to believe that the Beeb trusts to luck that they'll manage to find time during the recording whilst the scenery is being shifted to do the extra shots.

It's also worth noting that they definitely encourage audience reaction, i.e. they effectively tell people when to clap and indeed when they don't want them to clap. I remember on a recording of Pointless being told they didn't want us clapping when they mentioned the Pointless trophy prize because it just sounded like ironic applause. So if there are standing ovations I suspect there is a large element of orchestration.

A friend of mine just came back today from Blackpool. They had tickets on Saturday. A summary, Take That were meh, Anastasia was meh, it was a really long day, just about all the surround of the show is filmed twice (basically everything except the dances) so the standing ovation for you know who wasn't the only 'manufactured spontaneity', Len is lovely, Gleb is gorgeous, everyone was knackered by the end if the day. Smile

GlitteryRollers · 25/11/2015 22:53

Someone on Digital Spy has posted a photo of Gleb and his young daughter.

Don't look, your ovaries might explode Grin

UnGoogleable · 25/11/2015 22:55

Oh well I just blubbed watching little Bindi Irwin! Wow, she's stunning.

I wish our Strictly did a Freestyle dance like that, loved it.

Guess how old Bruno is? Hmmmm I'm gonna say 52

UnGoogleable · 25/11/2015 23:01

Don't look, your ovaries might explode

Googled it. Exploded.

AnyoneButAndre · 25/11/2015 23:28

60!!
Going past well-preserved into Dorian Grey territory.

Howaboutthisone · 25/11/2015 23:42

I always watch late on a sat and sun so miss the threads and read back. I also don't usually catch itt as much as I'd like to. This week though I caught jamelia and the forced 'I can't believe it' smiles after she mentioned the standing ovation - well done jamelia! And also Jay and his completely awful comments about that gorgeous toddler. I can't believe people haven't been more vocal about that on here. Yes- I've had a few tipples at times. Has is ever prompted me to joke about chopping a child's arms, legs and hair off before putting it in a bag and kicking it? No!!! I was a Jay fan before but now- not bloody likely no matter how well he dances! I looked at DH and said 'well he can kiss goodbye to winning after that' and I'm genuinely surprised by the lack of outrage here following that comment.

UnGoogleable · 25/11/2015 23:43

SIXTY? Whaaaaat?

Has he had a little help of the plastic variety?

In fact, I'm guessing Len is the only one on the panel who hasn't had help... good old Len

TrashPanda · 26/11/2015 05:57

Howaboutthisone there was a thread about Jay's comment here where a few people were really shocked, there was talk of a regional saying and quite a few people thought it was a 'foot in mouth/brain can't keep up' type situation.
