Oh God, Take That were awful. Awful coats, weak voices - who would go to see them? Nothing special at all.

And the dance off was a fix! If it really is, I will be very sad. I believed - till last night - that it wasn't fixed - but really, it mist be. Jamelia was MUCH better than NPP. What does he have on the BBC???

emotionsecho · 23/11/2015 10:28

She have they responded to any of the comments on the Facebook page or Twitter?

I don't have a Facebook account so can't access their page but I'm quite pleased that there is a backlash against the result of the dance off last night, it was so ridiculously blatant that they didn't save the person who danced better in that dance off which is what they are meant to do.

Dumbledoresgirl · 23/11/2015 10:33

To be fair, this is not the first time the judges have chosen a couple based on something other than the dance off. I can recall them picking couples on overall performance and there is no doubt in my mind that Peter is a better overall dancer than Jamelia. I also think he is better than Katie and on a par with Helen.

I do agree though with others who said that Anita was robbed. Her dance was amazing. I want her to win (well, actually, I want Gleb to win, he is stunning to look at Wink). I imagine Georgia will be the actual winner though. I hope gormless Jay doesn't.

GruntledOne · 23/11/2015 10:45

If it's true that the Jordans are Team Andre, then it's very telling that James Jordan was saying openly - both on the Guardian discussion board and Twitter - that the Dance Off result was wrong.

Elendon · 23/11/2015 10:46

Sorry to ask this, but what does NPP stand for? I'm sure it's been explained before, apologies but these threads are very long and I had company over the weekend.

Annarose2014 · 23/11/2015 10:47

I honestly don't mind whether G&g or Anita & Gleb win. Both teams have been fantastic to watch - full of personality and fearlessness with exciting choreography.

Those two new lads have really perked things up this year. Definately more than just pretty faces.

Re Anton/Katie and the Argentine Tango. Its choreographed by the specialist dancers so all they have to do is pull it off. I doubt Anton will have much problem, its a slow dance and he's an experienced dancer. Katie does well in slow dances too, so she might be OK but her problem is her jittery wobbly transitions and the AT calls for a lot of bodily control.

There's been so many times I thought she was about to topple over, even during that rhumba - I can see the AT being particularly bad for that. I'm also not convinced she can manage those flicky leg moves quick enough.

I have to say though I hope its a proper traditional AT. I luffs them.

Elendon · 23/11/2015 10:49

I also think now that Anita should win. She really has put her heart and soul into the dancing. I loved that Georgia had her grandmothers earrings and brooch and wasn't Anita's mum just lovely?

UnGoogleable · 23/11/2015 10:49

Just catching up with last night's show (I'm off sick, what better way to spend the day than on the couch with my dog on my lap and Strictly on TV!)

My thoughts:

PAs face, over rehearsed reaction and general Me, ME, ME crap when he was announced in the DO made me want to slap his gurning face.

Take That need to retire and leave the boy band crap to actual boys.

I thought Len's comments when reviewing the dances at the beginning was very pointed. He made a point of saying how good Jamelia was. I think by that point they of course knew what they had been ordered to do.

PA "I didn't want to be here with Jamelia" Fuck off you slimy cunt. Claudia's eyes to ceiling while Tess was gushing "You're SO lovely!" said it all. Claud, I'm sure you read these threads and that side eye was for us!

Why is Jamelia so unpopuar? Is it just because she's a bit dull? Why don't the public like her?

And finally - there's no way PA is going to win this. It would be grossly unfair if he kicks anyone else out next week, but I think it's highly likely he'll be gone next week.

UnGoogleable · 23/11/2015 10:52

Just seen the result bit - OMG whoever pointed out Darcey's expression - don't they call it a 'tell' in 'Lie to Me'? She looked up to the right when she said PA's name - she's clearly, clearly pissed off.

And Len looked angry.

SheHasAWildHeart · 23/11/2015 11:00

emotionsecho no official comment anywhere. Wonder if they'll mention anything in ITT. It'll probably come from Tristran and he'll be all diplomatic and lovely about it.

Why is Jamelia so unpopular? Those that are left are genuinely better dancers than her and those that are not good dancers (Katie & Anton) have a big following from life before SCD. Jamelia was never a popular singer. Anyone who's seen her on panel shows will know how annoying she is, she's never endeared herself to the Great British Public. Plus Tristran (handsome as he is) is still a 'new' pro and therefore doesn't have the strong following that Alijaz and others have.

Annarose2014 · 23/11/2015 11:18

Jamelia has been pissing people off for a while on Loose Women. People just don't warm to her.

I think she's come across OK on SCD though. I've felt sorry for her at times actually as she has seemed quite upset on occasion.

TillyButton · 23/11/2015 11:36

I think I read somewhere that npp can't do the tour,I wonder why the judges seem to want him to win.Confused

UnGoogleable · 23/11/2015 11:40

So Jamelia's just not generally popular? I vaguely remember her as a 'pop' artist many years ago, didn't realize she was still doing the rounds on Loose Women etc. She seemed ok on SCD. Not the best dancer, and it was probably nearly her time to go to be honest (although NPP should defo have gone before her).

Ok, so my next question. Has Katie had botox? She manages to make smiling look difficult (not saying she doesn't smile a lot, she does, but it doesn't look easy!).

emotionsecho · 23/11/2015 11:47

Elendon NPP - No Pants Peter, he said he didn't wear pants under his costumes on SCD however, he apparently now has added pants due to an embarrassing ball drop in wardrobe.

Autumn2014 · 23/11/2015 12:03

Ungoogleable jamelia pissed people off when she said some offensive remarks about larger sized clothing shouldn't be available on the high street to deter people from becoming overweight. I think she didn't realise the demographic of the voters would be mostly women, and even if you aren't larger sized it's difficult to warm to her and her childish views.

SoupDragon · 23/11/2015 12:08

I also think he is better than Katie and on a par with Helen.

I think he is on a par with Katie and worse than Helen.

I don't think he has made any progress whatsoever and is very stompy and lacking in finesse. However, I know nothing about dancing!

SoupDragon · 23/11/2015 12:10

Is Anita's mother a "Bollywood" dancer? I vaguely remember something about her perhaps teaching Indian dancing in one of the early VTs. I wondered if this is why Anita's hands were so good last night - in my head, hands play a big part in Indian dancing (again, I know nothing about dancing at all!)

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 23/11/2015 12:10

I'm really disappointed with SCD this year. Blackpool i thought was much lower key and less glitzy than last year and i thought the Halloween week was flat as well.

The pro dance I didn't think made any sense and the costumes were dull.

still watching though Grin

Elendon · 23/11/2015 12:29

Thanks emotionsecho! I think my mum is going to enjoy that explanation Grin (though I'm still thinking arrrrggghhhhh!)

The80sweregreat · 23/11/2015 12:41

i did write my bit up thread a bit on the hoof ( terrible pun, sorry!) I think I was just trying to say that they like to keep the people in it that the producers think are popular! Orla said that the marks are fixed, I wonder if they see all the dancers first before they air and are then 'advised' how to vote accordingly. I really do not know, but a lot of reality shows over the years appear fixed to me anyway, nothing much surprises me any more to be honest. All they win is a glitter ball - most people forget who was in it by the time the next one comes round anyway!! All very odd, I bet the earlier shows were not as hyped, I only became a fan a few years back. before then I didn't tune in at all. Its a good programme though, despite all of this speculation on my part, but I do also agree some weeks have been a bit flat. I do enjoy Kellie with those dancers though, she does look as if she is loving it and not too gushy either ( unlike PA) Kevin looked poorly , bless him!

TheDrsDocMartens · 23/11/2015 12:57

I thought that too SoupDragon

So next week PA V ? To get him out?

MoonriseKingdom · 23/11/2015 13:23

The judging was dreadful this week. Anita with 9s and Peter with 8s. Yet there was a massive gulf in performance. Anita was best dance of the night by a long way. She and Georgia are my favourites.

Turns out you lot were all correct about Peter. I used to think he was dull but harmless and wondered where the vitriol came from. He really is irritating and an unbelievable narcissist. Jamelia on the other hand has handled her unpopularity really well and has shown loads of improvement this week.

Much as I love Alijaz that Helen is a complete nightmare. I hope she doesn't get to the final.

UnGoogleable · 23/11/2015 13:41

I wonder if they see all the dancers first before they air and are then 'advised' how to vote accordingly I don't think so because there's a live audience - if they did this, then surely someone would have spilled the beans by now. Plus, if they did wait to see all the dances first, they would have marked Anita up for sure.

There's a woman in work who's daughter was on one of the popular TV talent shows a few years ago. The daughter got quite far, but the eventual winner was a really dull choice. She said that the daughter knew from the start that this other person was lined up to win, and that her contract even stated in the small print that the producers reserved the right to amend the votes as they saw fit. It's a total con. It's all about the viewing figures and the revenue from votes.

The80sweregreat · 23/11/2015 13:56

Helen looked gutted at the criticism. The VT with 4 of her was a nightmare.

SockQueen · 23/11/2015 15:06

Have been working all weekend so only just caught up on iPlayer. Totally unfair result from the dance-off.

I have to say I wasn't an enormous fan of Anita's dance. I thought it was good, and she did have beautiful arms, but her facial expressions were OTT and there wasn't much actual dancing with Gleb. I think she was marked fairly and a couple of others (Peter, Helen) were overmarked. I like Helen normally but she had a couple of errors in that routine.

Georgia's dance was beautiful and probably deserved to be top, but I found myself getting annoyed with her repeated mentioning of "I'm NORTHERN!" "I'm so excited to be dancing IN THE NORTH!" "Blackpool is in the NORTH, like ME!" It's a somewhat-past-it seaside resort, not a different fucking country love.
