Will this do?

OP posts:
GruntledOne · 12/11/2015 06:30

A friend of mine was at the recording of "You're Fired". She told me (after it was shown, apparently they were sworn to silence) that in one of the cut bits Elle said she had indeed recognised that her future in construction didn't look great, she'd really enjoyed the children's book task and she was now looking at going into that.

Roussette · 12/11/2015 07:04

I find Brett super annoying, he just goes on and on and on. Very robotic and no flair IMHO.

I loved Elle on "You're Fired". Honest and open!

Queenbean · 12/11/2015 09:22

GruntledOne I've always wondered that - how close after being fired do they film "you're fired"?

Do they film lots of alternative endings so that no one actually knows who has won?

CFSsucks · 12/11/2015 11:08

I've always wondered about when Your Fired is filmed too because they women after have much longer hair.

I liked Elle on YF, she definitely deserved to go and she knew it. I think she realised The Apprentice wasn't for her tbh.

I don't think that April did deserve to go last night. She didn't really do anything wrong. Her and Charliene did the exact same job.

I reckon Selina is in for it next week. They show her throwing a strop on the shop and Lord Sugar saying so,ething about it in the boardroom.

Was so funny the way they all knew Mergim has a huge crush on Karren, I wonder if she knows.

I liked Brett in this one. If I'm hiring a builder or something, I want a perfectionist who is going to do it right! My kitchen fitter was like that and will certainly use him again.

Peregrina · 12/11/2015 11:13

At least the two people i.e. Brett and Joseph, who were actually in the building trade, did know what they were doing. I don't know whether they will win, but last night's showing won't hurt either of them.

I don't think he should have fired Mergim - I think he should have got rid of David. But then, I always think he fires the wrong ones.

ThatsHowYouGetAnts · 12/11/2015 13:38

Queenbean take a look at this list

Queenbean · 12/11/2015 15:02

You're my new best friend! Thanks very much!

Lottapianos · 12/11/2015 15:38

Brett is a bit of a strange one. Yes, I thought he was at pains to be seen as professional and honest, but there's a bit of an unpleasant edge to him that I can't put my finger on

I was very reluctantly impressed by Joseph and Vana last night

Is it very wrong that I am starting to quite fancy Richard?

MackerelOfFact · 12/11/2015 15:43

Elle oh Elle.

(I wanted to use this hilarious pun all the way through last night's episode but DP kept shushing me so I'm sharing with you lot).

Queenbean · 12/11/2015 16:27

LottaPianos

Do you want to fancy Richard, but when you go to talk to him you end up asking David out instead?

#canispeaktodavid

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 12/11/2015 19:10

Peragrina - I agree. Messing up a task on the Apprentice isn't a big deal. But if it's your area and you're useless that's professional suicide.

I tnink David might actually be ok. He's certainly very personable.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/11/2015 19:37

I thought Joseph did really well. He actually seemed very capable and I'm easily impressed by any show of competence on the Apprentice.

Lotta I agree with you about Brett. There's something dislikable about him and I wouldn't hire him on that showing. He should have scoped the parameters of the job properly at the beginning. If he had then he wouldn't have had to leave it unfinished. I'd be pretty pissed off if I'd hired him. I may be too emotionally invested in all of this Blush

GruntledOne · 12/11/2015 21:09

QueenBean, they filmed "You're Fired" on Monday. I assume they film the main show in the summer? So there's a few months in between. Friend said they showed the main programme first, then filmed YF.

Apparently April was quite feisty - she said something about being surprised LordAllun didn't seem to like her, she normally got on well with "old men". And she called Charliene something like the Beauty Queen. No love lost there, I suspect.

GruntledOne · 12/11/2015 21:16

I liked this bit on ThatsHowYouGetAnts' list:

"The second-round assessment involves the candidates working together in teams so producers can judge the applicants on their teamwork ability and business skills."

Surely not? The last thing they want is a load of competent candidates who actually get on with each other.

Lottapianos · 13/11/2015 08:21

QueenBean Grin

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 13/11/2015 11:04

I think Brett did well. In real life you'd wash the stands down one morning, leave them to dry and do the painting the next. The artificiality of the Apprentice often means they have difficulties which would be easy to manage in real life.

ShelaghTurner · 13/11/2015 11:45

Am I the only one who thought Mergim was a cutie pie and wanted to cuddle him? He shouldn't have gone. He's a bit of an eejit but he tries and he puts himself out there and has a go at things when the others are just sitting around bitching.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 14/11/2015 19:41

"The artificiality of the Apprentice often means they have difficulties which would be easy to manage in real life."

exactly - like having to use the yellow pages rather than the internet.

CFSsucks · 16/11/2015 14:13

I thought that, there is no way washing and painting the stands could be done in the same day in RL, same with the theatre job, it was too big. I notice we didn't see the final results though.

That list is interesting, some of it I knew. I didn't realise both finalists get told they're hired then LS makes his decision the day before the show's aired. He gets a lot of time to deliberate over it then.

JAPAB · 16/11/2015 15:04

I find it odd that LS seems to not know the business plans until very late in the day. You'd think there would be a qualifying round before the TV stages where he picks the plans he might actually consider working with, to go forward.

Last year for instance Rois got all the way to the interviews before being fired because her plan required her to borrow an additional 500K on top of LS's 250.

And was it the year before Jordan was fired when it transpired at interview that his plan involved investing in someone else's business and taking on the owner as a third equal partner?

Both of them may have taken the place of candidates with plans that might actually have had at least some shot of LS being interested in them.

JAPAB · 16/11/2015 15:06

exactly - like having to use the yellow pages rather than the internet.

I wondered about that, but maybe they just don't want the candidates to Google "the answer" for some tasks. Such as the ones where they are given items that no-one has ever heard of. Or googling some guide or other information rather than them having to apply business nous. Perhaps.

Dillite2 · 18/11/2015 21:02

Good evening! I am watching tonight- well will see how my broadband behaves, it doesn't seem to like this wind at all.

Dillite2 · 18/11/2015 21:03

Oh wow, last week must have been amazing!

Dillite2 · 18/11/2015 21:04

3 fired last week! Shit, I really do need to catch up

Dillite2 · 18/11/2015 21:05

Ugh, that porn state is creeping me out. Why? Just why? Why would you want to look like someone out of a terrible 70's porn movie?
