"I thought that was a really unfair task. Design, create, market and sell a product in two days for a sector you know nothing about. Most people would have floundered."

Grin Have you watched the Apprentice before?!

They are all stupider this year than ever before, aren't they?

Roussette · 10/12/2015 08:46

I don't think they are any more stupid because it all boils down to clever editing, daft tasks, what Sralan provides with his contacts, who he puts on what team, who he knows he wants to go and engineers it etc. (and this is what I've told my DD who wants to apply to go on the show!)

But how can they all be consistently bad at pitching? Salespeople pitch for a living- it's a key skill. I don't think I've seen a decent pitch this series.

BYOSnowman · 10/12/2015 10:53

They could have done outstanding pitches but still wouldn't have got any orders because the product was shit.

But then I thought the same about the kids books!

I think the tasks would work better if they were given the product (or had other people to put their ideas into a reasonable product) and had to do packaging etc

The making of the snacks is a bit pointless.

It's easy to mock them and they all have an inflated ego, but if I was given two days to come up three recipes for healthy snacks, think of a name, marketing strap line, packaging, write and perform pitches, whilst also having the knowledge to answer questions about "antioxidants" and the such like.

I think it's interesting that Lord Sugar films alternative endings and doesn't decide who actually wins the investment until the day before the final is shown. I wonder if in that time he pays any attention to what the public think of that candidate or if it just business plan & personality.

Pandora97 · 10/12/2015 13:42

Anyone else think Brett was strangely fanciable on You're Fired last night? Blush I don't normally like bald men but I thought he came across quite well and I thought he was rather sweet being concerned about Charleine. [Hangs head in shame]

penguinsarecool · 10/12/2015 13:46

Looking forward to next week's episodes. The interviews always sort out whos who. I'm surprised Alan didn't sack one from the other losing team aswell last night. I thought the Tesco guy was a gonna but he survived.

I think the problem with pitching is more to do with the fact it's a rubbish product- I don't think either Chad any redeeming features. If likes been previous said they had a decent product or perhaps had add one ingredient and then do packaging etc gives them a chance.

Pandora97 · 10/12/2015 17:44

Haha glad it's not just me Maryz! Grin I also thought Brett was a complete knob at the beginning with his specification obsession but he had a good ability to laugh at himself last night and I agree he came across as a nice guy. I also thought the first guy out seemed nice too (can't remember his name either!) I can't imagine someone like Selina being able to laugh at herself like that.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 10/12/2015 20:08

I just caught up with it tonight and was Shock that they never managed to get any orders. In previous series, no matter how crap the product or the pitches, they've still got orders but tbf usually they only produce one product not a range of three that needs to make some kind of nutritional standard Grin

I felt like I spent the entire boardroom saying 'please don't cry, please don't cry' firstly at Charliene then at Gary then Brett. I felt sorry for them all except Vanna I can't really warm to her

Dipankrispaneven · 10/12/2015 22:08

The woman who went out the week he sacked three - can't remember her name - seemed very willing to laugh at herself on You're Fired.

penguinsarecool · 10/12/2015 22:36

i thought Gary sounded rather desparate in the boardroom its was almost cringeworthy by itself.

There were some articles yesterday about how Charleine's little boy died so she left the navy and set up her own business, might explain why she's finding it all so emotional. (Although tbf if they were going to fire anyone from her team for that task, it would have been her).

CFSsucks · 11/12/2015 13:51

Wasn't it Elle who laughed at herself on You're Fired? She came across very well, so did Natalie which was surprising as she was a right bellend on the actual show.

I never realised how big Brett was! His arms are huge. I felt sorry for him because I think the failure of the task was down to Richard not selling the raw thing and Vana putting a stupid amount of oil in. If they hadn't been so oily they probably would have had orders. And why Charliene was making the bars by herself I don't know, that was a 2 person job.

If wanky Richard is in the final, I will not be happy. Cannot wait for the interviews.

I reckon final will be either Charliene (reckon her business plan is good), Vana and possibly Vincent. Gary has no hope, no idea why he is still there. Richard is an arse and I can't see AS wanting him for a partner.

sadwidow28 · 11/12/2015 13:57

I was sad to see Brett go. He is quite a character! I actually watched "You're Fired" this time just to see what he had to say - brilliant.

Charlene crying didn't do a lot for me. I thought she had sealed her fate with that episode. Mind you, I would have been happy to see Richard fired this time.

I'm really looking forward to the interviews and sooooo happy to know that Clive will be doing them again.

Dipankrispaneven · 11/12/2015 17:20

Wasn't it Elle who laughed at herself on You're Fired?

Yes, I think it was. ISTR she fully agreed that she'd been useless in the task she got fired for (the handyman one) and said she'd given up on jobs in the building trade as a result.

Roussette · 11/12/2015 17:42

I thought Elle was absolutely lovely and very self deprecating

CFSsucks · 11/12/2015 19:19

I'm also very happy to see that Claude is still doing the interviews. He's been far too nice so far.
