who's watching?

I'm sad that we won't have Nick this time. And I hope Baggsy gets a tribute of some sort.

She certainly seems the nicest. A bit bonkers, and off the wall mixed in with slight confusion (though in fairness to her that could because she's baffled as to how so many incredible stupid people managed to qualify to be on the programme with her), bonkers and off the wall are two acceptable characteristics in my book. I probably should say "Myself finds Ruth the nicest"

Narp · 16/10/2015 06:43

So glad Aisha was fired.

Roussette · 16/10/2015 07:17

Yes but just think - she is between 20 and 25 years older than quite a few of them. If that were me, I would be biting my tongue!

regenerationfez · 16/10/2015 11:17

bastard Yes I cheered when she made that point. 10 years of the Apprentice and this is the first time it's been pointed out!

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 16/10/2015 11:38

Ruth's a bit like the love child of Mary Berry and Grayson Perry Grin

I haven't seen last night's show yet.

thunderbird69 · 16/10/2015 12:50

I feel sure I have seen Ruth somewhere before - not sure if she just reminds me of someone on telly or in real life! Not Mary Berry Grin

sadwidow28 · 16/10/2015 14:47

I have been posting on another thread for "The Apprentice".

I wondered why it wasn't overly lively - and nobody had discussed episode 2:

The other Apprentice thread in mumsnet telly addicts

I'll join in chat here.

The80sweregreat · 17/10/2015 13:21

waves at sadwidow, my Unforgotten pal!! hi.

just caught up with the shampoo one on I player today.
what were the girls thinking, they had a woman there who knows shampoo and hairdressing in side out and they chose Aisha? The boys billboard ads were not fabulous, but at least they had a good tv ad and the catus was shown. they had a clue at the beginning about showing a catus on the product, but did they listen? honestly, I know nothing about advertising or marketing but that must have been the thing to do - show a bloody catus on the bottle ( and make it look less like a soap dispenser)
it cant have been that hard ( I know they get little time for these challenges, but still) I do like the pink jacket lady, she is a bit older so probably knows when to keep quiet and when to speak up.

BugritAndTidyup · 17/10/2015 14:09

I've just caught up today. I like Rurh; she was kind to Dan in the first challenge and gave him helpful selling advice, which he promptly ignored.

Ruth: 'Now listen Dan, instead of saying 'can I interest you in a salad?' say something like 'you guys look hungry.''
Dan: 'can I interest you in a salad?' 'Can I interest you in a salad?' 'CAN I INTEREST YOU IN A SALAD?'

Should have listened to Ruth.

GinandJag · 17/10/2015 14:16

One of my former pupils is on the show :)

thunderbird69 · 17/10/2015 14:24

Bugrit - I know, although I'm sure it was edited to look worse! I think that was the nicest thing I've ever seen on The Apprentice when she said 'just come and stay here with me'. She is a little odd, as Karen mentioned, but does seem to be a very friendly, chatty person.

I wish they would stop splitting into men and women teams. Why not have them pick straws so it is random.

The80sweregreat · 17/10/2015 14:55

Ginandjag, can we ask which one?

Is ruth pink jacket? Too busy i padding sometimes and lose the plot.
Lord Sugar does make me laugh with his retorts, i know its staged but his 'hmmmm' line makes me smile. Claude has been a bit more complementry than i thought he would be. I dont know why they put themselves through it really.

GinandJag · 17/10/2015 15:22

That would put mell into my 60s :(

NoelHeadbands · 17/10/2015 15:28

I think the80's was just asking if the pink jacket woman was Ruth, not if she was the former pupil Grin

I loved Srallan's 'not sure who was giving the massage' line

The80sweregreat · 17/10/2015 15:45

Sorry, i guessed pink jacket wasn't your pupil Gin!

BYOSnowman · 17/10/2015 15:51

Yes the beginning of the ad was a little weird. I thought they were just in an elaborate bathroom rather than a spa

winewolfhowls · 17/10/2015 19:18

Ooh I want to know who the pupil is too

BugritAndTidyup · 17/10/2015 19:28

Was Selina the blonde who kept being really nasty to Charleine? She came across as really unpleasant.

I also didn't get all the fuss about the 'secret' theme: Pantene have done a similar campaign iirc. Seems like a perfectly good marketing strategy to build up buzz about a new ingredient to me.

BYOSnowman · 17/10/2015 20:02

I didn't think the secret part was bad either. And the billboard was good.

The tv ad and the packaging were dreadful though.

LIZS · 17/10/2015 20:04

Apparently one went to dc school but left at 16. Wonder if it is the same one as Gin?!

sadwidow28 · 18/10/2015 07:02

Well I finally watched the 2nd episode on catchup. The female team was pathetic. They couldn't have got things more wrong if they had tried. (And that includes sending 2 x 25+ models to do the billboard when their product was aimed at 45+). Good on Ruth for stepping up to the plate! I am loving her! And you don't say that 45+ women are 'frightened to try something new' when Karren Brady (aged 46 yrs) is the panel. No wonder Karren was insulted.

The men really nailed the product name and packaging. It certainly looked attractive. I loved the idea of using a cactus to make the T in WESTERN.

As for the firing - it should have been a double-fire this week. Aisha (team leader) and Natalie (the blonde who did the pitch).

I see there is trouble brewing between Selina and the BBC/media:

Selina Waterman-Smith has declared the show "has ruined her life".

sadwidow28 · 18/10/2015 07:07

Oh I have just looked upthread:

You and I are quite lively on the Unforgotten thread aren't we? But I am loving it. We'll crack that case before Cassie and Sunny at the rate we are going. Grin

GruntledOne · 18/10/2015 11:15

I'm guessing Selina got booted out fairly early on if she's whinging to the papers now. If she really does blame the Beeb for her alleged problems, she's even more of an idiot than she has demonstrated so far - they didn't force her to come on to the programme and announce that she was a podium dancer. There are pictures of her on public media wearing minimal clothes and posing suggestively which again have bugger all to do with the BBC.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/10/2015 15:05

Can't believe how bad Natalie was .

ElderlyKoreanLady · 18/10/2015 15:38

I don't understand Selena's problem. If I were a business woman based in Dubai and knew that links to certain types of dancing would get me deported or jailed, I wouldn't go on TV and announce that I used to be a podium dancer.
