The saddest thing for me in the episode was all the poor dead pets :(

Kitsandkids · 27/10/2015 07:33

I found the pets thing really tragic as well. Poor things, slowly starving to death with no one coming to help them :-(

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 27/10/2015 07:33

I don't care if it's far fetched or not but I want glen to escape somehow and be alive.

I found this whole episode a bit stressful!

And all that hard-hearted DH and I could think was: "Interesting, so animals don't turn when they die, I wonder why that is, could that be relevant later" (I'm sure we've noticed dead animals before, but it was the first time they weren't eaten etc, so it was obvious they were dead and not turned.)

peaz · 27/10/2015 08:15

OK, coming back to this and off the topic of Glenn and Ricks hand....where are Abraham and Sasha leading the herd to? What's the plan? And why did Rick go back to the RV?

limitedperiodonly · 27/10/2015 08:22

I was sad about the pets too. I was traumatised by the fate of poor Buttons and Rick's horse in season 1.

Has you DH read The Stand vvviola? In that, one of the survivors of the superflu goes to the zoo. All the animals have starved (died of thirst, actually, which horrifies me more) except for a chimp who was clever enough to collect rainwater. But because he's so close to human, he's dying of flu. Sad

The Stand is my go-to survival manual. There are a lot of good tips in it, and advice for if you get caught in a cosmic battle between Good and Evil.

DontOpenDeadInside · 27/10/2015 08:24

I think Rick had gone a roundabout way to head off some of the herd that broke off and put them back on course to the rest of them? I couldn't quite understand his and Daryl's story this episode. Think I'll have to watch again.

brittanyfairies · 27/10/2015 08:30

I think Daryl was going off to help Alexandria because he thought Sasha and Abraham had the herd covered. Then Rick gave his big speech about going back being about us and not about them, and making sure the herd moved away was about them blah, blah. So Daryl had a change of heart and went back to Sasha, meaning of course now that Rick needs his help he's not there.

I can understand the RV not starting, my car started yesterday morning then decided not to start in the afternoon - all cars are bastards that let you down when you need them urgently.

I think Glenn knew he was going on a suicide mission so he left his stuff for Maggie to find later.

It was a grim episode, the only thing that will lift my spirits is if Rick gets eaten next week and then Morgan and Carol fight it out to be leader of the group. #TeamCarol

I dunno I hope Judith gets killed off at some point. She's not supposed to be alive at this stage anyway.

QueenStromba · 27/10/2015 09:00

I was sure that Glenn was dead when I watched it - seemed pretty cut and dried with the whole guts being ripped out thing, but as half the internet has pointed out those guts seem way too high up to be Glenn's so must be Nick's. I don't understand why they didn't try to climb up the fire escape in the alley - it was all blocked off with crap but should still have been climbable for humans. If Glenn is really dead I'll be devastated, he's been my favourite character since the start. I'd also be really worried for Maggie, at least when she lost him after the prison her sister was also still alive.

I don't understand the lack of mercy killings in the episode. Surely they could have spared a bullet for the woman with the twisted ankle? And Michonne could have used her sword on the bitten guy when he was stuck against the gates.

Did anyone else notice that at the end it was just the three black characters that were left? That makes me think all the more that the writers are fucking with us regarding Glenn.

I'm sure that Rick will escape but am not too bothered if he doesn't. He really was out there for too long and has turned into a complete bastard. Michonne had gone through a lone wolf period but seems to have come back to the world. I think she'd make a great leader.

It really has been an intense three episodes - hard to believe that this has all taken place over the course of one day. I'm wondering if the whole first half of the season is going to be just this one crappy day. We now have Rick and Daryl separated from the group. Are Sasha and Abraham alone at the front of the herd? They're fucked if their car dies and it's not in the best of shape. We're missing some goings on in Alexandria since I'm pretty sure it wasn't burned at the end of the last episode.

And there was me thinking that things couldn't get too perilous for a while now that they'd reached Alexandria.

DontOpenDeadInside · 27/10/2015 09:02

Showmethewonder, in the comics Rick does actually have his hand cut off (think it was in the governors time though) Interesting!
Argh, so many what ifs and uncertainty. I might stop watching then binge watch them all yeah like that could ever happen

QueenStromba · 27/10/2015 09:05

This is one of those shows that you have to watch straight away or it will be ruined though. Is anything else shown in the UK the day after the US?

AliOh · 27/10/2015 09:06

Ahhhh! Had to come on here - I'm in denial!! Glenn is not dead surely?? All not as it seems I think - also he wasn't on The Talking Dead - they also have people on their when they've died on the show! he surely would of been being a major character !

QueenStromba · 27/10/2015 09:07

Oh, and apparently the comic writer has said that he regrets Rick losing his hand and would probably not do it if he could do it over.

badb · 27/10/2015 09:07

I came here to find kindred spirits. I found that all so shocking. Not Glenn! He's my favourite. And it was such a pointless death - not helping anyone, just an ordinary anonymous end in the ZA. I cried a bit (I'm pregnant, so that's my excuse).

But: some issues. Why were they all so angsty in this episode? I get that the Alexandrians had to learn the reality of living through the ZA. But why on earth was Michonne so hand-wringing - she must have spent five minutes standing on the other side of that fence, watching white shirt guy getting devoured. He was pressed up against it - why didn't she stab him in the head and put him out of his misery?

Also: what was the point of Daryl's little jolly here? I understand that he took Rick's 'bigger picture' spiel to heart, but it seemed to be that he went back AFTER he couldn't get Rick on the walkie talkie, so he must have suspected Rick was in trouble. That seems unlikely to me, given their bromance.

Ho hum to Morgan's episode. I like him, but he needs to get a grip. All of this was kind of his fault. I hope the episode develops his character though - at the moment, he's a bit too 'Magical Negro' stereotype for my liking.

Moln · 27/10/2015 09:12

He's not dead.

It was the irritating one on top of him being eaten, and now he is covered with so much zombie gore that he will be able to walk amongst them undetected.

There, I have spoken, so all can be calm once more.

On one of the previous threads, someone linked to a blogger that did amazing (usually very funny) reviews of each episode. Anyone remember who it was?

jaxswagger · 27/10/2015 09:20

This is what happened.

Coward guy fell on top of Glen.
Walkers start munching on Glen.
Just as they're about to start eating dessert Glenn
They hear gunshots (Rick shooting in camper van?)
They start to move en masse towards the sound of the gunshots
And Glenn is saved at the very last minute.

This series, so far, has concentrated on sounds - the sound of the horn drawing the walkers away is one, so it's possible that yet another sound has changed events at the very last minute.

The only problem with the above scenario is that, if Glen is under the body and his face is exposed, how come none of the walkers have started eating his face?
Why?

badb · 27/10/2015 09:21

I think Rick's hand injury is just from the knife blade when it broke off in the walker's head. I don't think they'll amputate - I remember one of the producers saying that they regretted doing that with Herschel because of the green screen and CGI work they needed to do whenever he was on screen. I'm guessing the new doctor will patch it up nicely.

How many Alexandrians survived? Just the two guys with Michonne?

jaxswagger · 27/10/2015 09:21

Should read:

I said intestines are not way up in a persons chest cavity and see I have kindred spirits on here who think they are not Glens but the annoying blokes. There was a fire escape at the other end of the alley and I dont understand why they didn't leg straight up that over the piles of rubbish at the bottom of it.

Why did Rick stop the RV?
