Vienna is one of the places ilove I've always wanted to visit. One of the others is Lake Garda. Are you going with the same friend you went to France with? Hope you have a fantastic time. Smile

orphan · 09/09/2015 22:38

Just watched the Suranne Jones too. Her husband, Bertie Carvel, played Miss Trunch bull in the musical Matilda, or at least someone with his name did, but I have to confess I'd never have recognised him in this. Enjoyed the drama but think she looks rather older than the 37 she is meant to be in it frantically rubbing anti aging face cream in as i write this

Am loving greenstuff's latest as well - I really like her writing style. The first chapter's events are v similar to the opening of Sarra Manning's novel 'Nine Uses for an ex boyfriend' but tbh there are only so many plots anyway!

ilove you know you only have to ask and I'll lend you Rupert for some Wiener schnitzel (he could even wear a CJ mask) as long as you return him in good working order.Grin

Onlygirljen · 09/09/2015 22:44

I've got suranne jones on sky plus, been working constantly tonight Confused.

nick just to say if it's any consolation I wouldn't be happy about letting my 8 year old on a 4 night trip with no contact! I think that's too young.

pix I sincerely hope clearing the hump is a euphemism for QS! Grin

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2015 22:44

No, Vienna is with my neighbour who lives across the road from me. We do a short break each year. Last time we went to Florence which was unbelievable but incredibly expensive (I came home with 7 euros) and there was so much to take in, I sort of lost the plot by the second day!

I'm thinking coffee shops, cakes and the Danube, not forgetting Wiener schnitzel. Thanks for the offer orphan but Rupert is really yours and woof's. I wonder where she's gone by the way for her surprise few days away? It'd be just like her to try and hijack CJ. Remember her foiled attempts when I went to Amsterdam? Luckily, I managed to outwit her but it was touch and go!

pixieg1rl · 09/09/2015 23:02

Oh, you're going to be so disappointed Kelly and Jen. It's code for blathering on pointlessly wondering where the story went.

That crazy work not letting up Jen? Hope it eases off soon?

orphan · 09/09/2015 23:04

Ha! Yes, ilove, I do hope icemist will be on the lookout. Given woof's penchant for muscle, I expect she'll try and get between the thighs of a Mountie, so if ice spots any knock kneed nags it's probably woof in disguise. And if CJ comes across a buxom beauty asking for help in opening her super size tub of maple syrup, well then you'll know I've managed to get a flight across...

KellyHb · 09/09/2015 23:06

It's funny when you mentioned orph about the similarity between a bit of FF you read and an actual novel, I always get so paranoid when writing that it's not similar to any words I've read or other TV dramas I've seen. Hey ho - the trails of writing I suppose. Confused

Alwaysfrank · 09/09/2015 23:11

Tiring day chez Frank. One of Twins had first homework meltdown of his secondary school career. I also had to cover more books with sticky back plastic. I'm losing count now, both schools seem to require it for all exercise books. I'm getting quite good at it though! And DD has just announced she's going clubbing so I know I will get woken in the small hours no matter how quiet she is. ??

Had a rather horrid thought earlier with all the talk of Exeter- that was my university town and I realised that BA would have been a newborn while I was there - I may have passed him in the street in his pram! Which only goes to underline how wrong this is!

MaddieMoo82 · 09/09/2015 23:12

I think that's why I don't try writing kelly I would be too worried that what I thought was an original plot was in fact something I watched on TV 2 years previously!! I am in awe of all you writers and your fab plot lines and stories.
Baby gate fell down tonight and literally brought down half the plasterboard wall Angry I give up today...

orphan · 09/09/2015 23:14

kelly it must be so easy to inadvertently do that and as I said, there are only so many storyline anyway. And the whole concept of ff is based on creating a version of something already written!

BK28 · 09/09/2015 23:26

Nickel just catchingup on today - re your DS go with your gut reaction - if he isn't ready then he doesn't go!! At 8 a weekend sleepover was the longest my DS went on! As you say you don't want him to be put off for when he is older. Be bold and tell them straight, plus whatever you think he won't be the only one not going.

ilove enjoy Vienna - really jealous as it is one of my fav places!!

Hope all you mums with little people have a better day tomorrow!!

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2015 23:39

BK apologies if we've had this discussion before, but what would you recommend we see in Vienna - Schonbrunn and Hapsburg palaces and St Stephen's Cathedral are about all that's made it on my list so far. I am hopelessly behind on research.

Richtea19 · 09/09/2015 23:39

nickel 8 is so young to be away from home and for 4 nights. I am sure my boys only started sleepovers at friends when they were about 8/9 but that was close friends 10 mins around the corner when they knew I was close and could get them if they wanted.

I was out tonight so I haven't watched bake off or the Dr Foster program but I heard Surrane jones interview on Radio 2 this afternoon and It sounded good and with a twist.

Nickel45 · 10/09/2015 00:03

Thank you all .. feeling like I'm not such a paranoid mum now! DS has been for a couple of sleepovers, to friends who knows well, and hasn't even managed to stay, he has been so upset. Going to see the Head. We'll see what happens. Eek!

Ilove have a lovely time in Vienna. If you stop off near here on your way down or up the M40 (are you coming via this way), give me a call :) xx

KellyHb · 10/09/2015 00:16

Oh no Maddie hope your wall gets sorted. We've still got catches/locks/gates on most of our doors, cupboards etc otherwise boys would rip everything out of cupboards/trap hands etc.

Ilovelblue · 10/09/2015 07:05

Fingers crossed for you Nickel.

We're flying from Manchester this time so I'm unlikely to be whizzing down the M40 again this year but hopefully early next year..... We'll have to find somewhere more upmarket than Pret a Manger next time!

KellyHb · 10/09/2015 07:36

Morning. Really foggy here today.

Going to post now before everyone goes off to work/school run etc.

Hope everything goes well today meeting the head nickel

Read all 3 chapters of Greenstuffs latest. Yes it seems another good one.

Going to watch BA in Lewis when I get back.

MaddieMoo82 · 10/09/2015 09:16

Morning. Good luck nickel seeing your sons headmaster today. To me 4 nights away for a 8 year seems a lot and hope the boss understands that. Would help if he was a like CJ a la learning the roles Grin

Kelly enjoy BA in Lewis. There are a couple of bits where he is wearing a polo shirt with the collar turns up and he looks pretty yummy although a little skinny but wouldn't say no if he turned up on my doorstep

BK28 · 10/09/2015 09:53

ilove go for one of those red bus tours - think they start from outside the opera house, that gives you a really good feel for the key places and then you can decide where you want to go and have a look at closer.
Last time we did that at the end of the day wish we had taken it first thing in the morning. Or the more expensive way is in a horse and cart

Warning the Hapsburg can take about 3 hours plus and you will be china d out!!
To get to the Schonneberg palace it is a bit of a trek - bit like Versaille fom Paris, but if it is good weather well worth it!

I'm not much into art galleries but after the HP you will have had your fill of old masters!

There is a really famous coffee house which has the most amazing cakes it is in one of the side streets around from the Hapsburg palace - the d??cor is amazing! Cafe Central Herrengasse/Strauchgasse, 1010 Wien

You have always got the Prater Wheel in the park and often you get some Strauss thrown in.

After all the culture there is always shopping and Euro shops are different to ours, but at the end of it just wander and enjoy!
Hope this helps!!

BK28 · 10/09/2015 10:03

Maddie hope the gate away from the wall hasn't left too much of a wall disaster, though sound like it requires a diy man to visit - DS is now 20 and I still have all those catches on the kitchen cupboards, just got use to them being there.

Kel enjoy Lewis - it is worth watching just for the lush curls on the nape of his neck!! Plus he does do some brooding - he is young but you can see the potential for the older CJ - his jaw line is becoming more chiselled!

Really think he should be put forward as a potential Bond, alongside contempories such as Dominic Cooper. A second series of OG just might raise his profile!!

icemistOBE · 10/09/2015 11:53

Good morning from Canada! I am wide awake at 4:30am (bloody time difference) so been catching up.

No sightings of BA but I did have a flutter of excitement travelling through Toronto airport, that it was somewhere I know BA has been and might have sat where I was or went through the same door I did.... We are off to see the Mounties today. Grin

Will be on high alert for suspicious looking individuals trying to steal CJ away.

MaddieMoo82 · 10/09/2015 16:49

Ooh is so lovely here today 23 degrees and so sunny. Met up with a friend for a dog walk so shoved baby in the sling and she suggested the place. Involved driving past the local Royal Marines commando base and on the way back there was a group of marines out for a training run. Think 1st episode of ourgirl but in PT kit not full kit SmileGrin being the careful and pervy driver i am I let the stopped and let them past, all 20 of them in all there sweaty loveliness Smile
Am currently ignoring the big hole in the wall and hoping DP sorts it.... Unlikely.
nickel hope you got ok at DS school and got it sorted. Enjoying the Mounties ice.. Mmmm thinking of CJ on a horse now....

Ilovelblue · 10/09/2015 16:53

Maddie seem to think that when BA was interviewed on those radio programmes to promote the OG DVD, he said he'd learned to ride horses for some other series or other and it was a skill he'd kept up with (or something like that).

A very thoughtful driver you are, yes definitely!!

orphan · 10/09/2015 17:07

Ooh lucky you maddie. Sounds like you've discovered a good place to drive past at all times of the day and night.Grin

And CJ on a horse...Long riding boots, yes please.

woof I hope you've been whisked off on your Birthday Celebration Part 2. Has your dh booked that Eat All You Like place in Milton Keynes - the one in which you had your legendary 40th bash? Go easy on the deep fried chicken balls; you know what happened last time. You never got the stains out of your velour hotpants.

MaddieMoo82 · 10/09/2015 17:17

Yep orpan I'll be making a regular daily trips that way and ilove there must be photographic evidence of BA doing this somewhere on the Internet surely....
