This is a fascinating discussion (I was around and conscious in the 60s ) There was a fashion for tans then, it started in the 20s with Chanel, think Brigitte Bardot, but also quite white faces and lips with very dark eye make up, think Twiggy and Dusty. Tans were not everywhere like they have been since the 80\ 90s and the spray shops\sunbeds etc.

They are just COMMON now, I reckon the 'skinny beanpole with a bad drug habit" look of the models now doesn't do much for the untannned look!!!

Maybe it would mess with continuity? I read that was the reason somewhere.

A 'healthy glow' might be passable for a 60's midwife, but she wouldn't get away with the Creosote shading Strictly go for.

Yes Redcryons The make up people must be happy to have naturally tanned people as pros and contestants, think of all that tanning stuff and time they save .
