Looking forward to a great few weeks of tennis!! Should we be asking MNHQ for some balls!!

So who is going to do well this year? Stan has tough first round match against Kyrios......and Nadal is playing Dolgo I think?

this set is going better, but he needs to break Marcos or it will be over in the tie break, the way Baghdatis is serving.

Raahh · 23/06/2015 13:50

Sorry David Sad

Raahh · 23/06/2015 13:53

Marcos is being very generous to Ferrer, which is nice.

InDespair · 23/06/2015 16:53

Giles Simon is aging well, isn't he? Tennis.

Well done Konta. Tennis.

Raahh · 23/06/2015 17:23

Well done to Lopez. Sadly my dcs have taken over the tv.

But next week, it will be all mine. bwahahaha Grin

magimedi · 23/06/2015 22:15

But next week, it will be all mine. bwahahaha grin

Too damn right!

Next week (& the week after) it's sarnies for every meal!

Bring it on.

Raahh · 23/06/2015 22:17

Grin magi.

Seedings are out for Wimbledon, and I'm surprised to see they have pretty much stuck to rankings. As of last week, Dimitrov looked likely to overtake Nadal, and be seeded 10 (because Wimby don't following rankings and use grass results from the last 2 years). His early loss at Queen's probably affected that. And staunch Rafa fan that I am, I am neverthless under no illusions about his Wimbledon chances well, maybe a little deluded, it would be great to see him winGrin . He showed some good form at Stuttgart- shame he couldn't build on it.

But Wimbledon, more than any other slam (last year's US open aside) often throws up surprise results, so who knows. I would love to see Stan do well, and Federer might even push for the title. Players with an outside chance include Lopez- he's been playing well. Dimitrov would have to really up his game, Nishikori might be an actual threat. But I hope notGrin

I have been hearing strange rumblings about freak weather though. I hope it doesn't affect the tournament too much!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/06/2015 10:43

Freak weather doesn't sound good.

Raahh · 24/06/2015 10:50

It's all to do with Tropical Storm Bill, Rafa Grin. And the threat of a 'mini ice age'.

Probably really means, might be a bit chilly, with lots of rainGrin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/06/2015 10:54

Chilly is good, as far as I'm concerned. Still haven't fixed out temp control issues at work. It was 24C+ and humid inside yesterday. I'm not sure I didn't prefer the 14C minus windchill from the AC and several layers.

Raahh · 24/06/2015 13:22

Am enjoying watching Baghdatis, Zverev looks like he is one to watch.
He is very young- and very tall. Grin

InDespair · 24/06/2015 16:47

Even tho Simons playing well, he looks tired.

Match fatigue.

Its all very well getting grass court practice but surely these players will be a bit tired, the men, Im talking about, having to play a 5 setter next week.

Eurosport- does anyone know wht that song is on the Croatia advert? it goes 'shine on, shine on' or something? i like it but dont know who it is.
Tennis.

Raahh · 24/06/2015 17:21

I keep hearing that too, in. No idea what it is.

Yesterday they were querying why Lopez is playing this week-he must think he can do it , or he wouldn't bother. He has a solid chance at Wimbledon to see out the first week.

Then there are players like Djokovic, who don't do a warm up event at all. Which doesn't seem to do him any harmGrin

Raahh · 24/06/2015 17:26

Right - found the song on you tube but can't link on my phone.

It's called Shine On, and is by Olivier Delevingne and Olivier Andres.

I'm just watching the women at Eastbourne and Heather Watson getting whacked by Sloane Stephens. They are allowed to consult their coaches in the breaks which is actually quite interesting cos you can hear what they are saying.

Raahh · 24/06/2015 18:06
Hmm

I disappear to make dinner, and Lopez starts losing.

Sad

Vamos

Raahh · 24/06/2015 18:34

and again, sorry Deliciano Sad

magimedi · 24/06/2015 21:20

Majestic - I was watching a bit of Eastbourne as well - tell me I am being daft but all those coaches look like real pervs - especially Muguraza's.

Why do all the women have male coaches?

Andy (who is going to win Wimbledon) has the sense, grace & humility to have a female coach.

Off to FWR any moment (I do drop in there from time to time!)

Raahh · 24/06/2015 22:18

magi GrinGrin.

I read the dumbest thing ever today. (maybe not ever, but still).

Someone posted a question on a tennis forum asking if Murray's 4 Queen's titles now make him more successful than Djokovic.

That would be the same Djokovic who has 8 grand slam titles, (to Murray's 2) has won Wimbledon twice, and beaten Murray in their last 8 meetings? (And I'm not even a Djok fanGrin).

Maybe it was Andrew Castle who posted the quesrion? sad deluded man that he is Grin ?

Raahh · 24/06/2015 22:31

And I perv over male coaches- Roger Rasheed can come and show me how to slice a backhand any time he likes. And as for Edberg, well, Annette knows he was MINE, dammit.

Grin
MajesticWhine · 24/06/2015 23:52

Edberg was always hot. And the shorts were just so short back in the day.

Raahh · 25/06/2015 16:09

Oh dear, is she paralysed?

Raahh · 25/06/2015 16:10

sorry- I really need to stop mixing g up threadsGrin Grin Grin
