I know there's a few of you out there...

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 30/07/2016 22:51

Can't wait for the next one.
But I just can't believe there's been no action before and today on Lily of the bullying cos Alysha sent that email in. That annoys me!!

NicknameUsed · 30/07/2016 23:40

It was wasn't it GetHappy

JudyCoolibar · 31/07/2016 00:31

It's not too bad when it's the Olympics it's making way for.

Yes it bloody is. After all, they've got three channels they can use, it's not like they couldn't make space for it, and not everyone wants to watch wall-to-wall Olympics.

But I see Holby's eccentric employment practices are back in evidence. Need a new F2? Forget advertising, shortlisting and interviewing, leave HR right out of the picture, just leave it to the consultant tot dish out jobs on a whim in the intervals between sorting out her bratty daughter.

purpleme12 · 31/07/2016 00:45

But it's the series end. There's always a bit of a wait in between series.

specialsubject · 31/07/2016 10:41

Connie, world's worst boss (staff selection carried out by shagging, bad tempered, badly organised, plus trousers up to armpits and hair everywhere) is also the world's worst driver. All she had to do was brake and let the maniac go past.

Not much of a cliff hanger though...

neveradullmoment99 · 31/07/2016 19:38

Are they dead though? Need spoilers!!! Or do they land in a river??? Maybe still a chance!

JudyCoolibar · 31/07/2016 20:35

My money's on them not being dead (sadly, I'd be delighted to get rid of Connie). It seems to be a basic term of employment at Holby that sooner or later you will end up as a patient.

FoxesOnSocks · 01/08/2016 06:29

Just caught up - I thought I'd missed two but was there no casualty last week (23rd)?

Wonder if they'll kill off Grace, with Connie taking about two weeks to recover before she's back to work and totally ok.

insancerre · 01/08/2016 07:04

Foxes, it was just a minor bump, I'm sure she will be back at work in a jiffy

ThornyBird · 01/08/2016 22:31

They can't possibly survive that! Surely, even in Casualty World Hmm

JudyCoolibar · 02/08/2016 00:19

We will find that, just out of shot, there is a tree that breaks their fall before they land on a conveniently place haystack. So they'll have serious injuries that are just bad enough for the scriptwriters to wring some more tension and drama out of the storyline, but not bad enough to kill them.

insancerre · 02/08/2016 07:33

Judy
And a member of ED staff, on their day off, just happens to be abseiling down that cliff face. They will be first on the scene and save Connie and her daughter.
It will probably be Charlie
Or Dixie on a day trip

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/08/2016 17:30

Just seen the end

Omg. No way they can survive that.

Unless they jumped before rolled down hill

And yes the lily bully story never got a proper ending

morningtoncrescent62 · 03/08/2016 14:50

The Connie/Jacob affair has been by far the worst Casualty plot ever (and it's up against some serious contenders). I'm so with Grace - I can't bear the way Connie turns into a simpering little girl around Jacob. Sadly, though, I don't think it's curtains. My prediction: there's a lake at the bottom of the cliff. Connie manages to free Grace who makes it, spluttering, to the surface where she realises how much she loves her mother. Either a new member of staff or someone from the good old days (Duffy? or someone from even further back?) is out for their daily run, and dives into the lake. Eventually Connie is pulled to the surface, but we don't know whether she's alive or dead. 40 minutes of tension and hand-wringing later we hear she'll pull through. Another member of staff will decide to leave at the end of the shift and go off travelling (they've got untaken annual leave, doncha know), and we'll end in the pub.

OK, so who else has been watching since the dawn of time show first started, and was struck by the echoes of those first opening shots, of Charlie driving over the Clifton Suspension Bridge? I can't believe it's been 30 years... I've grown old with Charlie!

PatricianOfAnkhMorpork · 03/08/2016 18:16

I haven't watched the last two episodes yet and I'm no hurry to do so as I'm fed up with the bloody writers with this latest season. Sick of Connie, Grace needs a good slap, no words left for Jacob, Robyn needs to wind her neck in on the gossiping. All the storylines are frankly shit and I want to see more of the A&E side like we used to.

I've been watching since the very start too mornington . Charlie was a very young man back then, seem to remember he was union rep. The ambulance men wore jumpers and the female nurses were still wearing the frilly hats!

FoxesOnSocks · 03/08/2016 18:20

30 years!!

Wasn't there a medical programme that was on before Casualty (as in before it was made, rather than the time slot before) about nurse. I think it was called 'Angels' or something similar.

insancerre · 03/08/2016 18:44

I've been watching it since the beginning too
I remember Angels as well

Optimist1 · 03/08/2016 19:54

Yes, I remember Angels - Fiona Fullerton and Lesley Dunlop in it IIRC?

JudyCoolibar · 03/08/2016 19:54

Didn't it start out as just a night shift with around two doctors and three nurses?

morningtoncrescent62 · 03/08/2016 20:10

Gosh, I remember Angels. Weren't they student nurses? I seem to remember Pauline Quirke being in it for a while, but can't remember anyone else. I was talking to DD2 earlier today, and we got onto the subject of TV, and how when you missed an episode of a favourite show, that was it, you'd missed it, no recording it for later or watching it on catch-up. Such an alien concept for anyone under about 30!

FoxesOnSocks · 03/08/2016 21:32

My biggest memory of Angles is the opening credits - with the monitor line going across the screen

JudyCoolibar · 03/08/2016 22:07

Wasn't Fiona Fullerton in Angels - maybe one of her first lead roles?

FoxesOnSocks · 03/08/2016 22:14

According to wiki yes she was.

I've also just had a vauge recollection of there being Casualty books: off to google to see if I made that up in my head.

TheDrsDocMartens · 07/08/2016 10:09

Just caught up expecting to have last nights to watch too. Angry

At least I've only three weeks to wait .....Hmm

Have you seen the trailer of the party though ?Shock

JudyCoolibar · 21/08/2016 22:44

There's some Casualty nostalgia here for those of us patiently waiting for our next fix.
