Is anyone going to watch this? I'm really torn because the presenter is Giles Coren who I don't like much but the idea is interesting. They are basically getting a family to eat from a different decade each week from 1950s to now

People who climb Kilimanjaro say shit like that.

No if you pay attention you'll find that many of the minutes were rubbish.

ppeatfruit · 26/04/2015 11:43

When Rochelle rewatches the programmes she'll no doubt be surprised abut the way she came across, maybe it's done her, and esp. her family,Grin a favour , because she'll think about stopping moaning Grin Or even actually stop. Grin

chocolatelife · 26/04/2015 11:48

Poor Rochelle

love her kids, so she cant be all bad.
i like the whole family tbh.

ppeatfruit · 26/04/2015 11:57

No, she's ok, I like her too chocolate just a bit negative that's all Grin

Jacana · 26/04/2015 12:45

I really hope that she sorts out her posture and if she scrunches herself smaller cos of Brandon's more diminutive size, ffs buy him some built up shoes, like wot them teensy film stars wear.

Btw, when Charles and Diana were still an item, anyone else notice that the more their marriage deteriorated, the higher her heels became?

ppeatfruit · 26/04/2015 13:09

It's scoliosis I think Jacana not scrunching herself up, though maybe she did that when she was younger.

I didn't notice that, but Charles must've worn built up shoes for the wedding Grin (Diana wouldn't have got married in flats, it was almost the only time I wore heels Grin) Dh wore cuban heels too!

Jacana · 26/04/2015 13:34

I wondered about scoliosis, hope it's not tho. Sad

The children were the best, weren't they? That lad is an absolute delightSmile

derxa · 26/04/2015 15:16

Yes Rochelle. She has three lovely children and a husband who obviously adores her but life seems such a trial. Could she be in physical pain of some sort?

ElizabethHoover · 26/04/2015 15:18

christ at this thread Shock

chocolatelife · 26/04/2015 15:58

what Elizabeth?
Dont think Christ is gonna help tbh

Davros · 26/04/2015 16:08

I don't know why everyone is being so horrid about Rochelle, I thought she was perfectly nice. It's all edited and the subject means that woman/mother often got more focus. I think it's very unfair to have a go at her (hoiks bosoms)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2015 16:26

Davros, I thought she was lovely too, I don't get negative comments at all. She must be doing something right if her children are anything to go by, I was quite envious of how they all mucked in together.

ElizabethHoover · 26/04/2015 16:46

i loved her rather dry weary attitude/

very mumsnet in fact

redautumnleaves · 26/04/2015 16:51

I thought Rochelle was fab. I loved her sense of humour. I thought the family as a whole was wonderful to watch and was quite envious of their cohesiveness and the obvious pleasure they have in each other's company.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2015 17:03

Me too Elizabeth , I didn't find her moany in the slightest and she was very ready to laugh at her cooking, except when Brandon called it bland and he ended up nearly wearing it! She was hilarious imo.

ElizabethHoover · 26/04/2015 20:53

I laughed a lot at the scene when Brandon was in the pub with his friend, and they suddenly realised they couldn't even be called home as nobody had mobile phones!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/04/2015 21:17

All in all I enjoyed this - as did rochelle Grin

Sure some parts were heavily edited - we see 60mins out of a weeks filming

Loved her 60's hair do's :)

Bet she is Happy life goes back to normal - ie she doesn't have to cook

Jacana · 26/04/2015 22:52

Yeah, doesn't have to cook and candid camera's not there to see her every moanGrin. On a bad day I could give her a run for her money on that scoreWink

OnlyLovers · 27/04/2015 09:30

I liked Rochelle! She was funny and insightful. She and Brandon obviously have a great time together and overall I thought they came across as a lovely warm family.

Isn't scoliosis more of a sideways curve to the spine rather than a front-to-back one?

And yes, Princess Di's heels got visibly more towering the more the marriage crumbled. See also Nicole Kidman bounding out of the divorce court post-Tom in skyscrapers. Grin

I can't chop veg properly sitting down. You need the height/gravity/whatever for the knife to work properly, IMO.

Akire, I know you said you couldn't remember the new foodie programme, but ... might you be able to remember it? I haven't seen the ad.

ElizabethHoover · 27/04/2015 09:31

no one cooks sitting down, and tbh if that is the main criticism of the show..

chocolatelife · 27/04/2015 09:41

yes it is more like a kyphosis to be exact.
a scoliosis is sideways

chocolatelife · 27/04/2015 09:48

as usual dont bother with the bitchy comments in the telegraph,

OnlyLovers · 27/04/2015 09:55

Kyphosis! That's the word. I should have known that; I studied anatomy and physiology a hundred years ago.

ElizabethHoover · 27/04/2015 10:02

this is a real life person you are diagnosing with back issues Hmm
