I didn't get why Porthos went off his dad at the end. It all seemed to be in one sentence that i didn't hear properly, before the bit when he said he knew the picture wasn't his mum. Agree Roquefort is too much of a pantomime baddy, the cardinal was much better.
I liked the plot not being all about the Muskatters v Roquefort this week but think they overcomplicated the plot and Roquefort trying to rape the queen was just silly.

Have just been having a think why it felt out of kilter tonight. No sass. No raised eyebrows or grinning at each other Musketeers. No humour. Maybe that's the darker bit? But I agree the finale is looking to be good - it's a two parter yes? I wonder if Mave is in it?

At the moment, for me, the difference is this;
I couldn't wait to get the first series on DVD, was disappointed I had to wait and really happy when I got it.

I got the impression it was going to be sexy. It isn't. The violence and storylines fine whatevs, but it isn't sexy. (Yes, I know there are bits but overall)

I'm worried that all the positivity re: Connie & Dog this ep is setting us up for a massively sad outcome in the finale

Did think that Rochefort trying to rape Queenie was far fetched, especially as he then tried to threaten her with a charge of treason re: Aramis. Erm Rochefort, you have no proof of that, whereas Connie is a witness to you assaulting the Queen.

WRITERS : can we please have one episode without an attempted rape in it?

I THINK that Porthos had his doubts already, or was at least a bit confused, wanting to believe both Trev and his Dad. Then he gets the fake portrait, and he also checks the drawer and realises it had a pistol in it and therefore Belgarde was worried he might have attacked him (Belgarde has drawer open when Porthos returns to the chateau) and why would he be worried unless he has something to hide? This is possibly why he goes looking round everywhere in all the rooms. So I think in the final three way scene Porthos is playing along a bit and deep down trusts Cpt Trev most.

See what happens when not enough pretty? I start overthinking the plot.

I did like Athos moving his wine away from Milady.
